Never again! I went here tonight with a small group of friends. We were seated just before 8PM and we didn’t see a waitress until 8:16PM. We ordered drinks and she did not return with our waters until 8:22PM. The bench was filthy – table and seats – we wiped it down ourselves. As for food, two different runners brought us another table’s food on two separate occasions. Our table had to stop the workers and send them off to find whomever they were looking for. After that, we were brought the bread. It was hard, tasteless, and over cooked. We weren’t given napkins and we were shorted on silverware so we had to ask for them both. My appetizer was wrong and my spouse was given a well-done, over-cooked burger when he asked for a rare-done burger, and my guests were given the wrong sides when they made custom orders. As for drinks, our beers and sodas came 15 minutes after we started our entrees. We had to remind our server that the drinks were missing even though we ordered the drinks immediately after our waters came, but before we placed food orders. Finally, three items we ordered from the menu were more expensive than the prices listed on the menus – costing us an extra, unexpected $ 18 more when the bill came!!! Additionally, the menus were falling apart, sticky, and inaccurate. The food wasn’t good and it was not true to order. The server never introduced herself. We were never asked if we had dined there before. No one walked us through the menu. The staff never offered us more water, or refilled the sodas, and they were very slow to bus our table throughout the meal. Overall, based on food quality and the service, I would never return back anytime soon and I would not recommend it to family, friends, or co-workers. This was the first time any of us had tried German food and this was a terribly troubling, and unforgettable experience for all who attended.

I really enjoyed this place. My fiancé and I passed by several times but thought the lights were too bright. We decided to stop in tonight and asked the bartender to dim the lights which made the atmosphere much more inviting. Lighting is everything ! We really enjoyed the food and the bartender was terrific. We’d night drink specials would draw a bigger crowd. We couldn’t get into Meatballs. I highly recommend this place !

My husband & I had lunch there this past Saturday & I have to say I could have done without it. We had baked clams-were okay. Then we had something called a cod fish schnitzel sandwich-really just like any other fish & chips-however, it was a tiny piece of fish on an enormous roll. It’s probably our fault for not ordering real German food but I would not recommend this place. Also, we ate at the bar & there was a table of 6 people by the bar that was making so much noise we could barely hear ourselves.

Came here with my brother and my dad on a Friday night, as expected it was pretty loud even though we were seated in the back room. If you don’t mind having to nearly yell just to speak to your company across the table, then I guess that isn’t a big deal. The hostess didn’t appear that friendly or welcoming and didn’t greet us until 5 – 7 minutes after we walked in(not even to say, «Hello welcome to…»). Once seated it took another 10 – 15 minutes before we were even acknowledged, but once we ordered the service seemed to pick up. The waitress told us she was just taking our order because she saw no one else was and didn’t know who was supposed to be taking care of us. Their beers are good(if you like dark/strong beer, their Dunkel [dark] beer is misleading and much more like an amber beer in regards to strength and flavour), their Bavarian style pretzel with 3 dips was probably my favourite food item, along with their beef and barley soup. Chicken schnitzel was tough and chewy, potato dumpling was very bland, potato pancake was dry and hard(not golden-brown, crispy and soft on the inside as I was so dearly hoping for). Their wursts are pretty good, but did not beat a Boar’s Head bratwurst from Stop and Shop in my opinion. The place is neat, very German-like feel inside with the music, décor, furnishings, etc– however they are just missing the mark on some of their food items.

My partner and I found ourselves here after a failed attempt at a different restaurant(almost an hour wait and we were hungry!!). Atmosphere: quaint, several long biergarten tables. We ended up being seated in their smaller back room. Music choice seemed out of place(top hits on the radio). Drinks: I was pretty disappointed with the beer selection. I can only compare it to one other biergarten, and the choices here were lacking. I’m assuming its because this is tied to the Hofbrau Brewery. I ordered the Hofbrau Dunkel Weizen. Looks dark, but I would place it closer to an amber in taste. Overall a solid beer that I would order again. Partner ordered the cider which was okay. Not a strong apple taste. Food: We ordered the Oktoberfest Platter to share as well as the Bavarian Pretzel and Potato Pancakes. –pretzel: I wasn’t particularly impressed. I thought there was too much salt, and the pretzel itself wasn’t evenly baked. Was also disappointed with the spicy mustard. We were hoping for whole grain, but this wasn’t it. Cheese sauce was nothing special and Velveeta-like. –potato pancakes: these were pretty good. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It seemed more like mashed potatoes inside rather than shredded potatoes. I tend to like onions in my potato pancakes and it didn’t seem like there were any here. I don’t use applesauce with mine(gasp!), however my partner does and he wasn’t thrilled with theirs. –platter: comes with sauerbraten, chicken schnitzel, a pork chop, bratwurst and all the accoutrements. Sauerbraten was definitely our favorite and paired perfectly with the red cabbage and potato dumpling. The red cabbage was definitely good, just not as good as my partner’s mother’s :) The chicken schnitzel… this was lost on me. Schnitzel should be a thin piece of breaded meat that is lightly fried. We basically got chicken cordon bleu covered in a mushroom sauce. It was good, but not traditional. Porkchop was yummy, but a little overdone for my taste. And finally the bratwurst… clearly a lot of filler with this wurst and not a lot of meat. So so in my opinion. The platter plus one or 2 appetizers is plenty to share between 2 people. Service: great service. Our waitress was incredibly helpful and friendly. She overheard me say it was my partner’s birthday and offered to bring out a small dessert to end our night. Overall we enjoyed it, but felt they were coming close to hitting all the marks and just missing.

my friend said we must dine here… as she knows I love German food so here we come long wood table as well as small its a medium size place one side is a bar with tvs its all open so you can sit at the long table and watch TV they had soccer on we started with a big pretzel 8.90 came with 2 mustards and a cheese sauce the mustards good the cheese was like melted velveeta its lunch time they have complete lunches for gasp only 10.90 now folks where are you going to get a big hearty meal for less? soup or salad rolls and butter(they could be a little less stale or a different type) the meal choices are sauerbraten fish & chips salmon and I am forgetting the others Clare & Maddy had the sauerbraten served with red cabbage and a big dumpling it looked nice and classic and they loved it Rob had a big fat burger on a pretzel roll with fries my salmon was actually very good my red cabbage fine we even had an authentic sounding accented waitress that was very friendly and right on and you even get dessert rice pudding(very pudding like) cheesecake or ice cream a little portion but hey the price is perfect and it is lunch even the coffee was pretty darn good of course parking in Patchogue can be a challenge but go behind the stores there are always spots PS I saw another review mentioning lack of Spatzle but I did indeed see it on the chalk board with specials I do indeed see a reason to return here

The atmosphere is great. Love the bar and the long tables. The beer is very good but the food is decent. The pretzel is good but very small. The burgers were okay but overcooked.

How do you call yourself a German restaurant if you don’t have spätzle? No, really? No real German flavors going on here at all– the pretzel is okay but not too authentic, the dumpling was probably the worst thing we could have tried. In keeping OUT of German tradition, they fail at just about everything we took part in. Wiener schnitzel by definition is «super thin, breaded, and pan fried veal» Austria would be up in arms as am I; the veal was like an extra thick pork chop, tough, chewy, bland — I like to give places a few chances but there isn’t a single thing drawing me back to this filth hole. Maybe they fool the masses but I have different tastes I suppose; Hofbrau has a few German styled brews and things but from my experience, I’m not all that interested in another installment of J&R’s fresh new facelift called Hofbrau.

I never write reviews, however on this occasion I felt the need to write this as soon as my absolutely disgusting meal left the table! We ordered the pork shank special and it was inedible! Who serves icebergs lettuce and Campbell’s soup for $ 20? The home fries and they were covered in some mysterious chemical. Avoid the food here at all costs!!! Beers are great and the service is very good. Just don’t expect to enjoy any food!

Hofbrau München was recommended to me by my sister, and the first thing she said was: «If you’re going to Hofbrau, you need to end at Hofbrau.» Not only was she right, but she was so spot on it was as if she predicted my fate after coming to this gem of restaurant. I recently ventured on a Monday afternoon bar crawl through Patchogue with a group of my friends, and after visiting two bars prior, we ended our adventure at Hofbrau. Many of us went all out and, to our pleasure, ordered the largest steins of beer we could order. I ordered the pumpkin cider with a cinnamon sugar rim and this drink was refreshing and brewed to seasonal perfection. A few of us struggled in selecting one of the many beer offerings, but the waitress was incredibly knowledgable of what was offered. Her assistance resulted in a group of very happy customers. The atmosphere was incredibly casual and theme-appropriate, and it really allowed us to relax and simply enjoy each other’s company. Looking around the restaurant and at the bar, you could tell that everyone felt the same. There was nothing but cheer throughout Hofbrau, and while it could have been attributed to the massive glasses of beer one could order, I would associate it with the great service, drinks, and food that Hofbrau München offers its customers. Hofbrau München represents some of the gems in the newly improved Village of Patchogue, and it’s well worth checking out if you’re a local or a visitor to the area.

We randomly went to Hofbrau München last Friday. We sat at a high top bar table. The restaurant was busy but there was a bar table waiting for us. We were greeted immediately by a bartender who served us all night. Let’s jump to the end. We had an amazing time! We found that it was very affordable. The beers were great and XXL! The food was also great and the portions were large. There was a man in lederhosen playing an accordion. That just added to the flair :) Our bartender was very attentive, ready with recommendations and never forgot about us. Can’t wait to go back.

A poor attempt at German food but in a nice environment. It can be fun inside and certainly liters of beer are terrific… just don’t bother eating.

***UPDATE I was walking through Patchogue the other day noticed they have a way bigger menu of German food now so I def want to check it out again. The bar/restaurants was super super clean and looked brand-new, the have a cute setup of long picnic style tables for«community eating», which I think would be great on a weekend to meet new locals or for a decent sized group but the menu was pretty small. The bartender was super sweet and accommodating, made me a grilled cheese on a slow Sunday during the spring and it was amazing… I was third wheeling it on a date with my girl so I didn’t really drink @ all and they had bottled beer so I can’t comment on the alcohol situation.

Food is good but not the best German food I have had. We ate at the bar. The selections of beer are great. You can never go wrong with Hofbrä. Service was warm, fast and friendly.

A different scene than your average bar. I came here for appetizers and drinks with a bunch of family(ranging from 23 years old to mid 50s) and all of us had a blast! Everyone couldn’t stop talking about the enormous glass steins. One filled stein is probably equivalent to like 2 or 3 beers. So good and such a fun environment to be in! We were there on a Friday night and I was surprised at how early this place closes in comparison to other restaurants /bars in Patchogue Village. Make sure you plan accordingly. Definitely worth a trip to Patchogue for this place.
