The Book Cove

A fantastic local book store, not your average big chain store. Tara and Max who work there are always a pleasure and full of insightful ideas for what to read next or as a gift. There is a great selection on hand and they will order whatever you want. It is also a great place to bring kids… a good selection of books for them plus they make them feel welcome to sit and read or play. The book club, greeting cards and other carefully thought out products are on hand so you can treat yourself while you shop for the perfect book or build a gift basket for a gift.
Another fantastic aspect of the store is the Antique Shop that shares the space. One never knows what kinds of treasures lurk on the shelves… estate jewelry, art glass, furniture, paintings, vintage knick knacks, country furnishings and eclectic whatnots.
A real destination to spend an hour, two or more whenever you’re in Pawling.

My friends and I were waiting for a table at Mckinneys next store so we popped into this little gem of a bookstore/​antiques. I told the nice lady behind the counter what kind of books I liked and she eagerly showed me 3 books that I never would have found on my own. I bought 2 and loved them both. How did she know? It’s a fun store to wander around with a good children’s section and cool antiques. When our table became available next store, I didn’t want to leave. I will definitely be back.

I had a great experience once again at the Book Cove! Tara and Max are always attentive and helpful! I highly recommend for anyone in the area, great place to buy presents for kids.

Terribly overpriced bookstore with a variable staff but they seem to dislike children. I have been there a couple times and the same lady seems to enjoy telling your children not to touch anything and following you around making you feel uncomfortable.

Wonderful local bookstore, well selected books for all ages. Also has antiques shop within and excellent greeting cards.

lovely local book store and antique store that is open! Do not know why it says closed? I have found some unique antiques there, VINTAGE 50’S HANDBAGS FOR THE WIFE. Worth a look while you are waiting for your table at Mckinney and Doyle!
