Lunch buffet– overall less options available Not an ideal Indian buffet for vegetarian food It’s little over-prized No veg appetizers– no samosa, no chat No dosa– well it’s not always there Tandoori chicken was dry In goat curry the meat was chewy Only Rasmalai was available for dessert Good ambience Nice and clean Service is very good I think it’s a little overrated restaurant on Unilocal.Well! I have not tried dinner menu yet, so cannot confirm.

I came in for lunch based on other reviews and wasn’t dissapointed! The place is extreamly clean, with a brightly lit dining room as if to challenging you to find a spec of dirt(you won’t). I had the veg lunch option with naan and left full and ready for a nap. The salad was simple and delicious– the paneer perfect, chutney sweet but not too sweet. The only part I wasn’t crazy for was the cauliflower(which the rest of Unilocal seems to love). Lets call it what it is– general tso cauliflower, and it isn’t remotely Indian. One star off for the strangely uncomfortable bar seating(no foot rest bar, the chairs don’t slide so getting in them and out is awkward) and for the manager who served me– who doesn’t seem to know how to smile. The servers handling the dining room seemed very friendly though!

I never went to dine in here but ordered many times. Thier biryani flavours are so natural and tasty. Mango chicken curry is super yummy for me. And I would strongly recommend this place if you are carving for some Indian food.

One of my two favorite places for Indian food in RI, and certainly the best on Hope St/East Ave. excellent choices for vegetarians — I usually get the hardboiled egg and potato curry, but, honestly, everything here is great. The staff is very friendly, too. I went to the weekend buffet once, and it was also amazing!

The curry and spices were crazy. It’s great spot to fill up your stomach. The portions were pretty sizable. The server filled my glass with water every 5 – 7 minutes. The owner came over and boxed our leftovers. Great place!!! A must see!!!

This Indian place is spectacular! Service was top notch and super friendly. They checked on us after every course and made sure everything was okay. I love mango chicken and they literally make the best here. There mango lassi drink is delicious as well and far from sour like most Indian spots, this was mild light and just perfect. I love the fact that they play Bollywood music and the atmosphere is cozy. My family and I came here on a Monday and it felt like a Friday. That’s how you know a place is good when customers after customers keep coming in for dinner. I can’t wait to come back to try everything else they have on their menu!

I have sampled Indian from all regions of the country, West Coast to East coast. No matter how many places I go to, Rasoi is still my favorite. They, in my most humble opinion, have the best Indian that money can buy here in the states. Authentic, flavorful, well cooked, well presented. Their chefs are phenomenal, giving such a wonderful mix and variety of tastes in Indian Culture, NOTHING on their menu is bad, NOTHINGATALL. Their Restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere and great vibe for lunch or dinner. Dinner is most preferred. Even when it’s busy, it’s not so loud to enjoy your experience, and not to bright to blind your time in. Rasoi has built such a great place here in Rhode Island, and I continue to see a bright future for them for years to come. Whether new to the area, or long time standing resident looking for a new place to try, this is the spot to be. If you are unsure, go down on the buffet weekend on Sunday. Best Buffet in town as well with great options! I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Honestly, I will admit, Indian is not my favorite regional food. However, when I do go for it(I mean come on who can ignore Naan bread), Rasoi is top in the Providence area. Great food, great location and atmosphere, and wonderful customer service. Highly recommend anything on the menu, all the naan options, vindaloo, etc. However if you want something a little different but tastes great, try the Bengali Seafood Stew.

Quality Indian food for sure. I love the mango lassi(especially on a hot summer day!) Mushroom and spinach soup and samosas are yummy for starters. The different types of nann are inexpensive and delicious. I had and loved the vegetable mango curry for my entrée(pretty sure it’s vegan!), definitely nice and filling. I always end up taking food home, so bring your appetite!

Note: I have never physically been to their restaurant, but we get their take out at work once a month, plus 2 – 3 times a week during our busy season which runs Oct-Jan. The owners and workers have been incredibly accommodating with us; they are willing to adjust the size of the food order we need last minute, they are ALWAYS on time with their deliveries, and the food is always delicious. Like everyone else here, I recommend the cauliflower 65(or cauliflower crack as the people at work call it), chicken tikka masala, saag paneer(my personal favorite), and their naan. They also always write on each item if it is gluten free, contains milk, etc., so they are a breeze when it comes to allergy restrictions. I really can’t say enough about the service they provide, and to have delicious food to boot makes them top notch in my book. I’d recommend them to anyone.

I’ve been coming to Rasoi for years, but now that I’ve got a wee one in tow, my appreciation for their casual, fun and family-friendly atmosphere has multiplied indefinitely. In addition to having fabulous food, fun music, great service and a clean, comfortable space, it’s just the perfect place to bring your kids. It’s loud enough so that if they scream, you won’t get dirty looks and the acoustics kind of muffle the sound. Service is pretty fast so you can be in and out before a meltdown becomes a reality, and things are paced so well that you can even feed your kid nicely between courses. Kid stuff aside, the bites are the best. My favorites are Cauliflower 65(believe the hype), Papri Chat(soooo gooooooood), Saag Panner and Chicken Tikka Lababdar. There’s a great list of naan to choose from, but my favorite is the garlic & cilantro — it’s the perfect balance of flavors, and the tangy bread if fabulous with every single one of the sauces. They have a lovely cocktail list and great beers, too. Believe me when I say you’ll be super happy you hit up Rasoi — kids or no!

On my Spring Break edition of East Coast eats, naturally I had to pop into one of my favorite spots– Rasoi! The whole experience was highly typical of what I usually get(i just have my favorites okayyy), though my sister did introduce me to the amazingness that is the Potato Masala Dosa. I didn’t know what to expect and when this huge tube of yummyness came to our table i was obviously down considering my huge appetite. It was the perfect mix and the sauce was a must also. What i highly recommend about this was that eating this beforehand made me just full enough that I couldn’t finish the rest of my meal. AKALEFTOVERSPEOPLE! I could enjoy this once again the next day. As usual, the channa masala that I got and Tofu Saag my sister opted for were lovely and everything I needed. And nowwww I’m about to go eat my leftovers with my leftover date/coconut naan!(Which by some feat of self-control yesterday I had leftover as well) Thanks again Rasoi! Can’t wait to try Rasa later this week.

I’ve been coming here for almost 10 years. I usually only eat at the restaurant but on occasion I order food to go as well. This afternoon I went for Brunch and ordered something to go for dinner later. I received my dinner to go and looked at it and thought it was maybe the lunch size. I was being charged $ 15.99 for it though. I asked the manager if it was the lunch size and he told me it was the dinner. I told him I had 4 little pieces of fish in my meal and was wondering if something was missing. He took it to the kitchen, in view, opened my meal, looked around, closed it up and gave it back. He told me «no sir, there are 5 little pieces of fish in the meal.» so having already paid and plopping down my 20% tip plus tax, this meal cost me about $ 21.00 for 5 little pieces of fish, a VERY small side salad and rice. I thought the response could have been better. The manager could have offered me a small container of veggies from the buffet(considering I just paid for it) so I could have felt a little better and not feeling robbed. The food here is imo is excellent. Just don’t do take out. This has happened to me on a few occasions and i’ve never complained to the manager until now. After probably spending $ 1000 dollars here over the years, I was not happy with the response by the manager and don’t think i’ll ever be returning.

I love this place! This owner Sanjiv Dhar also owns Rasa in East Greenwich as well as Kabob n Curry on Thayer Street. All three are consistently good, this one has a slightly different menu, more regional based cuisine. I love getting the Nirvana Thali which is like a sampler, small bowls of a variety of curries — great way to see what you would like to get next time! My favorite appetizer is the Cauliflower 65… cauliflower tempura tossed in a slightly sweet slightly spicy sauce, really is so good! If you like grilled fares, get the lamb lollipops… served with rice on a bed of greens with lemon, onions, and their special lentil soup/side, it won’t disappoint. On Saturdays, they have a vegan buffet as in sure they need to compete with neighboring Garden Grille. I hear that it’s good from Vegetarian friends but have only been to the Sunday buffet myself… which is amazing and I still haven’t figured out how to taste a bit of everything without being super full(first world problems).

Short wait(5 min.) for the Saturday brunch. Once seated both service and cuisine were outstanding. I had the brunch and my husband. who never tries anything new, ordered the chicken chile. That was the only problem I had. He had take home and was able to enjoy his meal for a second time the next night. 5 minute wait at 12:45 pm tells me they are popular and doing something right. Still my favorite spot for Indian in RI. I’ve never been disappointed while dining here. Cauliflower 65 is still a go-to app of choice and the chicken lababdar entrée is still my favorite meal. I love the flavors and I love the rice. Great mango lassi as well. I love all the flavors of naan they offer even though I always choose the poori. I dine here as often as possible and recently joined the rewards program they have. Got a nifty coupon for $ 10 off and put it to good use within days of receiving it in the mail. On the weekends it can be a bit of a wait but if you get there early enough you’ll likely be seated very quickly. There’s lots of parking in the shared lot. The staff remains friendly and prompt. I can’t get enough of Rasoi!

I have eaten at Rasoi many times and each time I go I wonder why it has taken me so long to get back here again. If you love cauliflower and spicy food like I do, then you MUST try the cauliflower appetizer. The lamb samosas with the green dipping sauce are in a word ‘addicting’. Sometimes they do not have them because they are so popular among their patrons. My daughter opted for the grilled tofu spinach salad. It was fresh and although I am not a fan of tofu, it had a spicy kick to it. I went for my old standby the Chicken Tikka Lababdar. It’s a classic dish and they get it right every time. Choose any of their naan breads to try because they are all delicious. I love the garlic myself.

Rasoi has some of the kindest, most hard-working staff. Having worked on the murals for their other restaurant in East Greenwich, Rasa, I know that this comes in part from the supportive, fair, and innovative owner Sanjiv. Sanjiv trusts in his employees to do an excellent job, and it seems they strive very hard to live up to that expectation. He is a model for me for how to be a successful business owner, even just from what little interaction I have had with him. The managers are also really wonderful. They make regulars feel very welcomed, and make a point to say hello. Everything is delicious and everyone is wonderful, but I must say that our very favorite thing about Rasoi is the gluten free and vegan buffet on Saturdays. It is very nice to see them offering these things. My husband needs to eat gluten free, so having an entire buffet of choices available where he doesn’t have to second-guess things or ask tons of questions is a really big relief. Rasoi and Box Seats are by far the two best restaurants in the area for those who need to eat gluten free… but only Rasoi has a weekly buffet! I know that my friends who have a vegan food-based business of their own also would put Rasoi at the top of their list of favorites. The lentil donuts reach levels of fried comfort food yumminess that few gluten free options do — and having them on a buffet with much healthier options helps ensure that we don’t over-indulge. When choosing single items from the menu, my GF husband typically goes for the dosas — and may I say THANKYOU for getting rid of the not-gluten-free dosas, as that was always a little concerning.(We would always wonder — Is the dosa cooking surface cleaned off in between enough to avoid cross-contamination? Are they really understanding how important it is that it be this type of dosa, not that type of dosa? How would we really know the difference from looking if we got the wrong one?) Even with all those concerns in the past, as we’ve been trained to have from other restaurants who purport to have gluten free options but don’t really take proper care, we never once had any problem at Rasoi. So really, thank you! Thank you for having wonderful staff, wonderful food, and wonderful alertness to your customers’ needs.

I went to Rasoi for my Food Tourism class for one of our lectures! For an incredible price, our class got a short presentation on Indian food and spices, and the kind staff served us an array of appetizers and entrees. I had never have Indian food, and they explained that it’s not necessarily spicy, as most think, but there are a lot of spices in each dish. Our class was blown away with the dishes we tried! A class favorite was the Cauliflower 65! The service was attentive and they took interest to find out what dishes we liked. Though we went at a slow time of the day, I can visualize the atmosphere being upbeat and exciting. I definitely am coming back, especially for that Cauliflower 65 appetizer!

WOW — Rasoi has got it going on! This review is a little different than your typical as I took 35 college students to Rasoi as part of our food tourism class. To say that Chef, Nitin, and the rest of the team knocked it out of the park would be an understatement. They were a pleasure to work with in setting everything up and were very excited to welcome our class. For an extremely reasonable fee, we were treated to Mango Lassies upon arrival and a family style appetizer course of samosas, cauliflower 65(HIGHLY recommended), and chicken kabobs. There was so much food initially, that the students thought this would be their meal… and they were wrong! Upon completion of the apps, the team served us 3 amazing dishes, again family style with naan in ample abundance for all 36 guests. In addition to the courses and impeccable food, the team also gave our class a short presentation on the history of the restaurant, the culture of Indian cuisine, and shared insights into how they are pushes the evolution of their food through infused cocktails. I should mention, our class is focused on food tourism, food culture, and how when we eat out, we travel the world. The presentation was spot on with the message of the class and fit perfectly into our curriculum! All and all, we had an amazing experience and can’t thank everyone at Rasoi for being so welcoming and for the incredible food! I am looking forward to taking my next class back in the spring.

Went for the first time, everything was terrific. We sat at the bar and watched the Indian version of MTV, which was pretty cool. It definitely added to the already good atmosphere. The food was extremely good and the exact amount of spice that we had requested. The wait staff were all friendly and right there to ask if everything was OK, which it was. It’s in a small strip mall, so it doesn’t look that spectacular from the street, but it was! Definitely going back real soon.

Rasoi continues to be my favorite Indian restaurant in the area. Everytime we go, and that’s often, the food is always perfect and the service spot on. You know it’s a great place when you pull in the parking lot and it smells so good outside that you are glad you came. Can’t decide what to order? Try a Thali and get a bit of everything. Thali is also available in a vegetarian version as well.

I love Indian food and this restaurant is my favorite so far– the Saag Paneer is spiced so perfectly and not overcooked and irony. The cauliflower 65 will be that dish you can’t not get because you love it so much and the lamb rogan josh is extraordinary. Order for pick up or go in for great service and a fun atmosphere!!!

Still one of my top choices for Indian food in the area, and consistently good. With its success, however, the crowds and prices have gone up. Lately I’ve noticed that my dishes here could use a lot more heat and spice, but Rasoi is good about making adjustments to accommodate guests so I’ll probably ask for dragon fire next time I’m in. The service here has always been prompt and professional and I’ve attended a cooking class here in the past which was enjoyable as well. Rasoi participates in social media deals/coupons so keep an eye out for them for the best deal. The restaurant itself is clean, well kept, nicely designed, and visitor friendly. Well worth a visit. Recommended dishes: anything tandoori, chicken tikka appetizer, lamb biryani, naan, cauliflower.

Honestly, I’m not impressed. For years I’ve heard great reviews about rasoi. I’ve also heard that this is the best Indian meal in providence. I just don’t agree. I’ve eaten here on 4 occasions, each time thinking/hoping it would change my mind, but every time I’ve been disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, the curries taste good. They’re just not up to par with the meals I’ve had at Kabob and Curry and Not Just Snacks. I don’t think I’ll go back unless urged by a curious friend.

I love this place. You walk in and as the aroma of the food reaches you, you know you’ve made the right decision to go to Rasoi. Everything I’ve had here/sampled from friends’ dishes has been phenomenal. Prepared with care and with generous portions with plenty to take home. A huge fan of their naan. The honey&ginger naan is on the sweeter side. Really like the stuffed date&coconut naan(I’ve actually stopped by just for this before) and the stuffed potato naan. The trouble with this place is that it’s tough to not overeat– it’s okay, you can(and will) come back! Because I’m terribly indecisive, the first time I went to Rasoi, I ordered the Nirvana Thali which gave me a little taste of several dishes– the chicken tikka lababdar, lamb curry, tawa shrimp, saag paneer, house lentil, naan, basmati rice, and the dessert of the day. It takes a moment before you realize that all of the food before you is, in fact, for you. All of it was delicious, I was surprised by how good the house lentils were. A friend had Mango Curry which was also stellar. Everything was cooked to perfection and the variation in the dishes made for a fun dining experience. I’ve been here in groups both large and small, and the space works beautifully for either. Huge selection for vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free diners. Lunch is very reasonably priced if you want to give this place a try for the first time. I greatly prefer Rasoi to its sister restaurant Kabob and Curry because of its superior service, food, and ambiance. Even when filled, it doesn’t feel crowded and I’ve never had trouble hearing over the noise. Get lost in the food in the presence of great company. Paired with a trip to wildflour or Three Sisters, you’ve got yourself a perfect dinner & dessert!

Delicious Indian food. There are a lot of Indian restaurants in the world, but Rasoi is able to combine a comfortable atmosphere, good service, delicious food and very fair prices. They have a wide variety of food choices and options that there is always something new to try. I always fall back on my favorites too: Chicken Tikka Labrador(their version of Tikka Masala), Lamb Saag, Dal, Biryani, Naan… their Thali combo plates are a great deal too. The service is really great too. One time we came in about a minute past the buffet closing time(3pm on Sunday), but the servers let us still do it and left the food out for us. They were totally nice about it(although I wouldn’t recommend being late to the buffet, it was a nice thing they did for us).

Cooking Demo on 24 August Chef/Owner Sanjiv Dhar held another class on Monday. The highlights, for me, were the root vegetable soup and the potato/egg balchao. The soup is easily prepared, can be served warm or chilled, and takes into consideration seasonal vegetables. This will become one of my go-to recipes. As usual, all questions about preparation/substitutions/suppliers were answered with a wonderful sense of humor and grace. .

Came here last night(a Saturday) at 9.45pm, on the way back to New Haven. My friend said the food here was good, and she wasn’t kidding! Service at 9.45 happens to be really speedy because they close the kitchen at 10.15pm. Our waiter was quite polite and catered to us in a timely and unrushed manner during our 45 minute meal. I know thalis are always a hit or miss, but I ordered a vegetable thali in haste, which was a mistake on my part. My thali did not come with yogurt, so I had to ask for it separately(maybe they forgot?). There was also a vegetable curry that contained mango chutney, which I didn’t really care for. However, the saving graces of the thali were the naan, which was by far one of the best naans I’ve eaten outside of India, and the suji dessert. I enjoyed those things very much. The thali cost $ 13.99, which is a reasonable price. My friends ordered the potato and egg curry($ 12.99) and the Hyderabadi chicken korma($ 14.99), which were DELICIOUS. I was like, «ugh, me and my thali ambitions.» In any case, this was a tasty albeit brief dinner in Pawtucket. If ever I’m around again, I’ll be back!

If Kabob and Curry had a brother… wait a minute. Yup so K&B does have a brother, only this one is a little older and therefore doesn’t hang out with all the frat boys & college kids. Rasoi is another«so close to the east side, yet stuck in the bucket» businesses. And as such they join the company of The Garden Grille, Wildflour and that Chinese restaurant that appears to never have anyone in it. Rasoi is always busy the food is always fresh and scrumptious and the service is always fast and friendly. I would say to truly enjoy Rasoi, check out their deals such as a meal for two with a bottle of wine for under $ 50(Tuesday I think). The cocktails a fun and reasonably priced. Sunday brunch is a must, for under $ 20 you can enjoy so yummy food. Eat well Providence
