Probably the worst Indian food you can get in RI or US. Went there second time after years, still somehow they were able to keep up the same test. Not for those who have eaten good indian food, not for Indians at least.

Great Indian food on college hill! Our go to spot. I especially like the goat and lamb curry. The service is great, and if you go frequently the rewards program is definitely worth it. I wholly recommend this place!

As a gluten free vegan, there aren’t too many restaurants I can go to an order anything besides a salad! My husband is a carnivore and as you can imagine, we have a difficult time finding restaurants we can both enjoy. Luckily, there’s Kabob and Curry! I absolutely love the Alu Gobhi and my husband typically orders the Chicken Vindaloo. We eat at Kabob and Curry about twice a month and have always gotten excellent food and service. As a Rewards Member, we earn points each time we eat at Kabob and Curry and get coupons and gift certificates in the mail. Even though we would be going to Kabob and Curry regardless, these reward bonuses are an added treat.

Being a fan of India and Rasoi, I find it hard to give other Indian spots a chance. One of my best friends is passionate about Kabob and Curry, having lunch there at least twice a month, so I gave it a shot. Everything was good, from the appetizers to the entrees, but not outstanding in comparison to the same dishes elsewhere. The star of the meal was the tikka masala though — my friend got chicken, I got veg and we both got delicious sauce that was just right. The other great thing about our experience at Kabob and Curry was the service we received from who we believed to be the owner or manager. He stopped by our table a few times to check on everything and was both friendly and funny. I wouldn’t say that I would not return, if I’m on Thayer and craving Indian I would absolutely pop in here.

Sometimes a girl just needs some naan for a rainy day. Kabob and Curry has always been a go-to place for college hill dwellers who need a taste of home or just some spice in their bland cafeteria lifestyle. My all time favorites here are their deep fried poori– a little greasy but so addictive and their plethora of naan selection. Paired off with samosas or your choice of curry. The mango lassi is nothing to scoff out as well. The quality of the food is quite tasty the downfall of the establishment is its slow wait staff and their not as friendly as hopped to be. The space is also a bit small during lunch hours and the top floor is mostly open for dinner service. But other than that, if you need a quick Indian craving fix– this is your place. Stay hungry college hill!

I took my girlfriend here for her first experience with Indian food. It was totally the right choice. The manager(or owner, I’m not sure) came over shortly after we were seated to offer help with the menu and described various dishes to my girlfriend to make sure she’d order something she liked for her first time. She settled on the chili chicken based on his recommendation and it was the perfect choice, she loved it! We also ordered some of the best garlic naan I’ve ever had, along with delicious chicken tikka masala and veggie samosas. This was some of the tastiest Indian food I’ve ever eaten and the service was unbeatable! Don’t miss this spot if you’re ever around here!

I don’t know if it is just me or if it is the fact that I’m comparing this to the Indian food in NYC, but I was very underwhelmed. I got a curry and it was watery and a little bland. It doesn’t seem like authentic Indian food. The naan was also nothing amazing. Don’t really recommend. There is better Indian food in Providence.

DELICIOUS Indian food, and very convenient for Brown students! The food is flavorful and each dish is unique, so you can change up your order and never get bored. My personal favorites are the chicken vindaloo and chicken Hara Masala(though I think the Hara Masala may no longer be on the menu). Kabob and Curry is incredibly accommodating of food allergies. Many dishes on the menu are labeled gluten free, vegan, and dairy free, so anyone with these restrictions will find plenty of choices. The restaurant staff is knowledgable and willing to answer questions, as well. There is even gluten-free bread– which is very good and exciting for people like me, who usually can’t have naan! The service is quick. There are also really good lunch deals: cheaper than Chipotle and much tastier. Be sure to stop in for lunch with friends, or even get take-out for while you are studying or working. Fantastic food, great service — a must try if you are on College Hill!

I was so impressed with the quality of food and service from the staff of Kabob and Curry. We stopped here for dinner on the weekend after Thanksgiving and found this place packed. I feel that says a lot about the food considering that most people keep away from eating out during a holiday weekend. We split two meals, the chicken tikka masala and the dal makhni which is a lentil bean based dish. Both were really flavorful and came in large portions with a side of rice. We also split 3 orders of the naan in rosemary, garlic, and parantha. The breads came at a price of 3/$ 8 or 2/$ 5 and I would share only 2 between a couple next time since the servings are so large. Everything else on the menu looks so good, it was hard to settle on our final decisions, but no regrets. Our server, Manny, was really friendly and helpful with the menu. The manger even came by more than once to check on us to see how our food was. There is a second level that was full as well, so I know they are a local go-to for dinner. Perfect spot for a meal on Thayer Street.

Kabob and Curry, I adore you. I love the appetizer lunch and the dinner selections. I’m delighted that you serve Hyderabad specialties because they make me nostalgic for my old work trips… The food is tasty across the board, but I really love the pakoras here. The service is great, and I go back whenever I can.

I’ve been looking for an Indian restaurant to fill the nirvana-like curry void when my fave«Deep“ly and deliciously dysfunctional Indian restaurant in town closed shop(sigh). I had a certificate for Kabob and Curry, so I gave it another chance after a long absence. For better or worse, the food hasn’t changed. It’s a standard American Indian restaurant that dumbs down the heat and spice levels for the locals(and judging by how busy this place usually is, the locals like it). I’m a heat, spice and curry monster, so to me the food tastes ok, a little bland – it doesn’t thrill and delight my senses in any exceptional way unlike some of the Indian food I’ve had at the sister restaurant Rasoi. I’d probably ask the kitchen to «bring it» like they do in Mumbai next time I dine here. The service I’ve had has been good for the most part(tho my server threw away some of my leftovers that I asked to keep on my last visit). The pricing without specials is a little more expensive than similar competitors. Overall, a solid 3. Good not great.

Kabob and curry is one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve ever been too. It may not be totally authentic, but it’s 100% delicious. I’ve stopped here many a time for a treat yoself meal, and it’s definitely my favorite place on college hill. My regular order is the chicken saag with pea and potato naan. I don’t even know what they put in their saag but it is so, so delicious. You wouldn’t believe spinach can taste so good. The p&p naan is like a mashup between naan and a samosa, and it’s just awesome and perfect for dipping into curry. Their samosas are also incredibly satisfying, with crunchy fried shells stuffed fat with a potato/vegetable mixture and accompanied by three dipping sauces. Student groups also frequently get K&C catering for events, and everything I’ve tried is very yummy. As for service, it can be a little slow sometimes, so don’t come here if you’re in a rush. However, they do give you a complimentary crispy cracker/bread with the same three sauces as the samosas to sate you as you wait. The seating is a bit cramped as well, but K&C still maintains a nice, colorful vibe. Do check this place out if you’re on Thayer!

I have been here a couple of times and I like it. The food tastes good and is always hot. I really like chicken tikki marsala and also goat curry. I also really enjoyed their soup. I am always a big fan of coconut soups and I could not resist. I am glad I got it. This is my go to place when I need to warm my chilly bones. There is nothing like some hot indian food to warm you up!

Kabob and Curry is located in College Hill, not to far from RISD. If you haven’t been to College Hill it’s quite a treat — much like other neighborhoods near colleges, there’s several inexpensive restaurants, a big Starbucks, a classic movie theater(with lit marquee!) and of course, Kabob and Curry. After a rather disappointing experience at Bombay Club I didn’t have high hopes in finding decent Indian in Providence. Since I’m usually traveling with my friend and coworker, Siddharth, we usually sample what each city has to offer in Indian cuisine — Sid had previously lived and worked in Providence and recommended Bombay Club and we found out from that experience that the restaurant had definitely taken a turn for the worst. While searching for a new dining experience we decided to go by the Rhode Island School of Design(or RISD for short) campus on this particular evening. Doing a quick Unilocal search using the smart phone app(which I highly recommend) up popped Kabob and Curry. The restaurant has a bit of an odd layout — you climb stairs into a foyer decorated in South-Eastern motifs and then walk through to an outside, covered deck. There’s a fold-out sign with specials listed — interesting to see gluten free and Halal options. The smells were very good and there were more than on Indian and South Asian groups of people seated — most appeared to be students so I still reserved judgement. We were presented a menu. I spotted a Trinity IPA to find out they were out, they were also out of the Sierra Nevada, Bass Ale and Tajmahal so I defaulted to a Kingfisher. So far I’m not too impressed. Looking over the menu Sid and I both decided to go with the Thali Plates — these are a great way to sample many different items and get some extras thrown in. You get a samosa, pappadum, two veg dishes, rice or naan and a curry(or two for the jumbo) of your choice. You also get keer for dessert! Vegetarian Thali — Sid went with a sag paneer and a veg curry — he heartily approved of everything on the plate. We both had the same dal which was more of a soup and very tasty. Also, the samosas(they were both veggie) were quite good and a welcome change from some I’ve had recently. Meat Thali — I went with a Chicken Vindaloo and a Lamb Curry, extra spicy on both. The vindaloo had an appropriate amount of spice and tartness and the lamb curry was tender and delicious We also added a garlic naan — it was good but appeared to use that chopped garlic you get in a jar. This is still much better than that powdered garlic crap I saw in Salt Lake. In all the food was quite good with an intensity of spices missing in our previous experience at Bombay Club — we thoroughly enjoyed the food, the service was great and the Thali plates offered more food than either of us could eat. The only negative was that it was a very busy night so we had to wait a bit to get our food — which was still well within our expectations. Kabob and Curry will be on my «must» list the next time I return to Providence. – John (Also posted in longer form on my food blog)
