Went back after few years and found their food has deteriorated from other visits. Looks like it may be a different owner as the previous staff and servers not there. Oh well, better luck next time, maybe!

Slow staff. Got in sat down. Took 10 minutes before someone took our order only did that after I had to go to the counter to ask for help. The food took along time to come out when it did the bacon was cold… as my son said«I like my bacon a little more cooked than frosty». Was almost raw. The free coffee refills never came, the wait staff was very unattentive. I will never go back

45 minutes for eggs over medium only to have them arrive undercooked. Wait staff was very kind but this place needs a new cook on the grill on Saturdays!

This is the first time I’ve seriously considered walking out of a restaurant: My boyfriend suggested we try this diner based on positive reviews from some friends and also online, so on a Sunday, around 11 we popped in. The place is very small, which I thought would be a positive. Less people means faster service and less wait time for food. I was so wrong. We waited close to ten minutes for someone to approach us asking what type of drinks we would like. We were sitting at the bar, very close to the register, so the waitress could see us. She was very, very noticeable frantic because the place was fairly busy. I also work in the food industry, and I can assure you it WAS busy, but not slammed. The place just seemed super chaotic. Anyways, while we were waiting for our coffees we noticed two friends of the waitress had come in. Our waitress(1 of 2 working there) stopped what she was doing and very enthusiastically greeted them. Within five minutes the girls had ordered, and received, their breakfast. Meanwhile another couple and ourselves waited to get our coffees refilled by anyone. Time passes and more and more people are getting their food before us. Our order was pretty basic, so we thought we had gotten skipped somehow. We noticed in this time that the cook was microwaving food that had been sitting out for too long, and got a little nervous. At this point we had been waiting for over 20 minutes, no refills, and definitely no one approaching us. We noticed other customers seemed agitated and at one point a man came up and said«We’ve been sitting here for 15 minutes and no one has come over!» So we knew it wasn’t just us. Ultimately the other couple received their food and a half-off check. We got our food, after seeing it sitting out, and had to return it 2 times because it was wrong. Thus our time was even further spent in this breakfast hell. Oh, and I forgot to mention that our waitress had quite the compulsion to touch her long, greasy, unkempt hair and then touch customer’s plates before serving them. She would literally pull her hair in a way that mimics putting it up in a ponytail but then would squeeze it and pull it over her shoulders… so yeah, that’s gross. Safe to say I will NEVER go back here again, and wish I had walked out.

I was coming here every week until I saw something happen while I was sitting at the booth(about a year ago). The cook(i believe the owner’s son) brought food to a couple of people. He chatted with them really quick, and really quick he scratched his groin while he thought no one was looking… and went straight back to the grill. I stopped going ever since.

I have been here only for breakfast, served until 2pm on Sunday by the way. Yesterday I went with two friends at 1:00 on Sunday afternoon. We were greeted promptly and served coffee. I ordered the steak bomb omelet. It was delicious-with three eggs, shaved steak, diced peppers and onions and cheese. It was cooked perfectly, served piping hot and loaded with flavor! My friends ordered the Spanish omelet, with salsa and cheese and they said it was delicious. All omelets came with choice of toast or English muffin and delicious, well seasoned red bliss home fries. Try it-you’ll like it!

I was in love with the Peabody diner when it first opened. It was family run and the food was always delicious. Since they change hands I have seen the difference and not for the better. Hope it gets better but I wont be holding my breath.

I love this diner SO much. After a bummer of an experience at one of my favorite diners in Salem, a friend and I checked out this place several months ago on the suggestion of a local friend. We were really looking for a great breakfast, and VOILA! Peabody Diner had it. On a recent trip back to the area, I went in here three mornings in a row. I was a bad, bad girl. I got the Peaches and Cream French Toast, Raisin French Toast, eggs, bacon, sausage — I had a ball stuffing my face. I haven’t been able to find another amazing breakfast like this one in the Peabody/Salem/etc. area. Service here is awesome as well — the ladies who work here really add to the vibe and are super down-to-earth and funny. I had so much fun chatting up the locals on my last trip here(shout-out to the elderly gentleman wearing a ton of chains around his neck, who told me great stories about being jumped by gangs at casinos in California. You were fun). Oh, and on that note — the locals definitely come here. You know it’s a good spot if there’s locals coming in and out! Thank you to Peabody Diner for making my breakfasts magical on the east coast. I never get up early enough to eat breakfast, except for YOU. Nom nom nom.

Food is excellent! Went there twice. Both times had an omelet with home fries. Food comes out steaming and stays that way throughout the meal. It’s a little hole in the wall. Only about 10 tables with also counter seating. They only accept cash so be sure to have it on hand. Good coffee for diner food and super friendly staff. Would defiantly go back again!

Great little diner just outside of Salem in the charming town of Peabody. The staff was super friendly and the food was really good. I had a veggie egg-white omelette and it was outstanding and huge! My kids had pancakes and French toast and both were large portions and good. They have many varieties of each(ie. captain crunch French toast). Hubs had the bug breakfast and couldn’t finish it all. Add coffee and OJ& we ate for right at $ 40 Clearly a local place, but very welcoming. A real winner!

Pros: Great food. The Irish Eggs Benedict was amazing. Cheap prices. Breakfast for mom and myself only cost me $ 14! Cons: Pretty typical service level of the Boston area, which is pretty low!(I grew up here and live in California, so I have a great comparison of the areas lol) Bottom Line: Great breakfast for a great price!

The first time I ate here it was amazing. My boyfriend got a pancake and I don’t normally like them but I couldn’t stop eating off of his plate… we both agree it was the best pancake we have ever had. Update: I took away 2 stars after my second visit because the wait staff was rude. They forgot my toast and cheese on the eggs. I waved at our waitress 3 times and she never came over(even after to see how the food was). I finally got a different waitress to come over and told her– she walks away and brings back the toast not saying a word. When we got the bill they took off the .50 for the cheese which was nice but there was never an apology. While the food is good I will probably not return

Best bacon I’ve ever had, hands down.(how do you get it to be so perfectly crispy?!) Pancakes and homefries are also amazing here. The ambiance, however is where this place falls a little flat. Some of the décor is a bit kitschy and the furniture and fixtures are cheap looking. And while the staff is extremely friendly, they are loud and often seem to be caught up in family matters with each other rather than focusing on their customers. That being said, this place makes a mean breakfast and if you can put aside their faults, you won’t be disappointed.

Excellent breakfast that was only upstaged by the friendly, attentive and entertaining staff that truly appreciates your patronage. Home fries are as amazing as advertised, using real fresh red potatoes, not some Sysco product out of a freezer bag. Linguica was amazing, breakfast portions were beyond plentiful, and prices are reasonable. Only qualm with the diner is that I think the corned beef hash was out of a can. I love me some CBH and while I have no issue with eating the canned stuff, I love a place with a good homemade CBH. You made the extra effort with the home fries, go the distance with the CBH. — Juggs tested, Juggs approved

Red’s may be a rightful institution on the North Shore but the Peabody Diner is quite possibly the best breakfast for your dollar that you can find in or around Salem.(Sure, it’s a few hundred feet beyond town lines but we won’t fault them for that.) I’ve been here a handful of times and never have I been disappointed; not to mention they make some damn good homefries — an absolute necessity for any breakfast joint. A very filling breakfast will run you under $ 10 — just make sure to bring cash since they don’t accept cards — and, for free, you can experience some of the most authentic Peabody accents around. The place is small so expect a wait, especially if you’re the annoying type that rolls in 10-deep anywhere for breakfast, but it is well worth the wait.
