There were zero redeeming qualities about this restaurant. Where to begin? Margaritas here are prepared using a pre-made mix that tastes like the cheap sort you buy at the supermarket. They serve cocktails in plastic glasses. The food is sub-par, barely elevated above diner quality, but with urban upscale restaurant prices. The food menu emphasis appears to be on locally sourced and organic ingredients, but if you don’t know how the to compose and execute a good menu, quality ingredients will only get you so far. And service? Terribly amateur. Neither the bartenders nor the servers are very familiar with the tequilas offered. The servers are not particularly attentive, and I had to go inside at one point to order drinks from the bar(having ordered them without success from our server). I did ask the bartender to make me a proper margarita(that is, without their mix) and she obliged, but it was terrible. It seems she didn’t understand how to make a drink that should be fundamental at a Mexican style restaurant. I resorted to ordering mezcal neat for the remainder of the evening. To contextualize this review a bit, I’m a server and bartender. I know food, I know spirits, and I know service. I can say with confidence that Taco Dive Bar knows how to do none of those things well. I did recently have the pleasure of eating at Bar Taco in Port Chester. I think Taco Dive Bar’s owner should take a trip down there to learn how the taco bar concept can be done right.

If you enjoy bar taco, this is definitely comparable. Exceptional view of the hudson river and occasionally you get alittle metro north train noise but it makes the experience so much memorable. Their menu is great, margaritas are definitely the go-to drink here. This is a great environment, love coming here during the week and weekends during the evening with friends and family and watching the sunset.

MEH! While I understand it just recently opened. It leaves much to be desired in the way of service. Bartenders are completely clueless. Hostess was like a dear in the headlights. Finally got seated. Waited way too long before a server arrived. Finally Angelo arrived and expressed apologizes for the delay. He was professional and attentive. While the food was enjoyable there needs to be more oversight. Very young staff. Which is fine. But someone needs to run the show.

This place is horrible! A group of 20 of my friends and I were having drinks and having a great time. We all decided to go in and have some food, one of the servers helped us push a few tables together and Louie Lanza came out and pretty much yelled at us and told us «we don’t do that here!» We asked, «do what?!» He replied with«push tables together and have large groups in here.» We told him we were going to buy food and continued to yell at us so we left. This is horrible business for a city that is trying to be «up and coming.» I’m disgusted.

My friend and I stopped in and this was probably one of the most disappointing meals we have had in a while. We started with calamari which was drowning in vinaigrette so it retained no texture and just ended up being soggy and I satisfying. On top of that they gave you next to nothing for $ 9 while else where $ 9 gets you a huge plateful. Then we each got one of their mushroom tacos and a shrimp taco. They were every underwhelming and poorly put together. There was barley anything on them and they were terribly under seasoned. On top of it all the service was terrible as well. We watched at least 3 groups get there food after us and leave before we got anything. While I understand the the place was busy the waitress barely had and interaction with us as everything she did was a drop in run sort of mentality. We had to flag her down to get anything. They also took away our water and never ask if we wanted more or brought refills. Over all I will not be returning or advising any of my friends to go.

This is the most over rated place in Peekskill. We have first hand heard the owner speak badly about the other restaurants in Peekskill that he doesn’t own. The food is mediocre at best and really expensive for small tacos. They have a back patio that is rarely open and there’s one staff we’ve had that was super rude to us. They claim to be pet friendly but are never accommodating when we bring our dog. There are too many good restaurants in Peekskill to waste your time here.

This review for take-out only from same menu dine-in. Best items, order again: * Smoked Brisket Taco. Excellent * Black Bean Chili Con Carne. Most tasty, contains chucks of brisket, but portion is small. Would not order again: * Mahi Mahi Taco. Dried out, so probably over-cooked or unsuitable for take-out. Good location. We ate inside and the ambiance was amazing, it made me forget I was in Peekskill for a moment. I had 3 beef tacos which were alright but not worth $ 5 a pop. My Friends tried the shrimp tacos and wings. Besides water and soda to drink I had a beer and both my friends had margaritas. The frozen margaritas weren’t all that great(which is why I ordered a beer after tasting my friends). I was honestly still hungry when I left here. I had very high expectations of this place and it turned out to be just alright. Definitely not my place of choice when it comes to tacos. I wouldn’t tell anyone not to go here, it was an experience.

I wish I could give more stars! The pork belly taco is heaven. The chicken wings are spectacular. And so nice to finally have good weather for sitting out on the street tables! Best margarita in the area. Fun, attentive and enthusiastic staff. I’ll be back again and again and again…

We dropped in here early Saturday evening. i was pretty hungry and was in no rush. After being seated it took us a while to be served, i did ask to confirm if our server knew we were here. Our server in the end was very pleasant, we ordered drinks and some apps. We then had to wait for a long time to order more drinks, and again wait a long time to order some tacos. I was now in a rush, everything was taking so long, the place was not that busy either. We ordered some Tacos and they were very tasty. I had hoped to order more but i just didnt have the time to wait around to make the order, then wait to get them. My problem with the place apart from the waiting time, is $ 5 for a Taco, i understand about overheads, but after spending $ 70+ and leaving still hungry it seemed expensive for what i had. $ 3.50 for the best Taco in NYC, the Adobada at the Los Taco in the Chelsea Market. Or, $ 5 for a tasty Taco in Peekskill. I think this should be the other way around.

LOVE this place! The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because I think for $ 5, I’d either like a bigger taco or 2 for $ 5. But with that being said, I love the taste of the tacos no matter how big or small they are. I usually get the pork belly taco, which is so tender and they really render all the great flavor out of it and the portobello mushroom taco, super yummy and healthy, topped with some goat cheese crumble. Great chips and guacamole and they have a goat cheese ball starter, which is TODIEFOR! also, their FROZEN margaritas are much better than the regular ones, and seem more alcoholic as well, so you get more bang for you buck! Also, just tried the frozen sangria tonight, new favorite! This was my 3rd or 4th time here and I’ll keep coming back!

margaritas — yes! sunsets with the windows open — yes! Adobo chicken rice bowl — yes! Whatever they put in that re fried bean dip — yes! its a pretty busy area especially when the weathers nice, the train is letting out, and the river-dwellers are all over the place. Patience is a virtue here.

Hands down the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. We sat down in the outdoor courtyard, without realising that the tables were supposed to be for groups of 5 or more. The waiter made us aware of the fact, but then kindly said just to keep it in mind for next time and allowed us to stay, then took our orders for drinks and food. As our food was being prepared, the owner came over and told us that the outdoor area was for groups of 5 or more only, and that we would have to wait for a smaller table to become available inside(even though there were 3+ available tables surrounding us outside). When I told him that the waiter who had taken our order had already told us that is was OK for us to stay at the table, and that we would happily share the table with another smaller group, he flat out told us to leave the premises. I honestly cant believe that the owner of a restaurant would be willing to throw paying customers out of his own restaurant, just because they had sat at a table that was ‘supposed’ to be for groups of 5 or more(even though there were plenty of other tables available). Never in my life have I been treated with such disrespect, and by a restaurant owner of all people. My husband and I will obviously never be going back to a place that treats it’s customers so awfully.

I have been to this place before to an awesome experience. Today not so much. Me and my wife were all ready for margaritas and tacos. I wanted the bowl I had gotten last time. To my delight the same bartender I had a couple months ago was there. Obviously she wouldn’t remember us but I knew she was pleasant last time. We sat down to a packed house… and waited… and waited. Finally after 10 mins, the person next to me was nice to hand us a menu for my wife and I to share. No biggie, she was really busy and I totally understand. It took an «Excuse me miss» to get her attention after walking by us and also serving the people next to me, their food. If I could describe her face, it would be as if she said«Yes…and…» Totally weird. But we moved on! My wife and I have super patience and moved on. I ordered the Angus filling with the rice bowl with a Pacifico beer. Wife ordered the guac nachos with a margarita. She went on her way. We then waited and waited and waited… Since we were in deep conversation as always, we didn’t realize that at least 20 mins were spent in this place and didn’t even have a drink yet. I looked up and saw her that she was pouring me my Pacifico and got super excited. She closed the tap and handed it over to some random person that walked up to the bar and asked for a Pacifico. That was the LAST straw. We walked out and said nothing. Last thing my wife and I needed was to have people looking at us like we were crazy Latinos making a scene. I really hope this person gets a talking to on how to take car of all customers not only the regulars that are snap chatting her during her shift.

Excellent staff Excellent grub Terrible name. The pork belly rice bowl was super delicious, the guacamole was salty for my liking. I had a side of Lanza farms goat cheese(chèvre) with chips and jalapeño jelly. And started with the Wings. These wings kill it !! Loved them. The spice blend and crispy light coating were so much better then I expected. Downfall is they only serve house ranch which is super good but I prefer the blue cheese dressing . Sorry I just can’t do a place like this for Tacos. You can though, the food is great.

TDB was great, and I bet it is even better in the warmer weather. I came here with my family, including my 4 and 6 year old niece and nephew on a Sunday afternoon. We were greeted by the whole staff and nobody gave us dirty looks for bringing kids to a dive bar. Brunch was being served so we ordered the gluten free pancakes for the kids to share. We ordered only a few tacos for the 3 adults to share since it was still early and I had a side of guacamole. Everything came out very quick and was super fresh. My favorite part was my brunch drink, the Mexican 70, which is basically a champagne margarita. It has tequila, lime, agave, and Cava sparkling wine. I don’t live very close(NJ) but would love to come here again, hopefully in the spring when we can sit outside.

I came and tried TDB again like I said I would. Stopped in one night with the college ladies and we were there for a good two and a half hours. Started off with the 5 dip app and a carafe of mango margarita. Unfortunately they were out of calamari so I think as a trade, our awesome waiter was able to give us the margaritas on the rocks versus frozen. Score! The dips were good and blah; the goat cheese-marmalade thing was interesting but not bad, the smokey bean dip was strange yet so tasty, guac spicy but nice with some pico on the size to mix in(considered the fourth dip which was annoying bc it was so small) and the last was a thick red, purée of idk what though it was similar to ragu [and therefore left pretty much untouched.] An hour in, we ordered the goat cheese-Portobello taco, shrimp taco and a pork belly rice bowl. I gotta say, this time I had the shrimp taco and WOW. they definitely redeemed themselves on that one. Great flavor, had enough shrimp inside(probably a good 5 – 7 mini ones) and not soggy or falling apart. The rice bowl looked like a nice portion for the price but kinda dry if that’s possible i.e. I would douse that thing in sauces. For 3 ladies. –dip app –two carafes of tequila draaaanks($ 28 a pop which is a little up there if u ask me. the carafe was small and of course filled to the brim with ice) –two tacos and a rice bowl the total came to $ 100. I had fun being with my girls again but for nearly $ 40 per person once tip was figured in, we could have gone to a restaurant and gotten a full meal with a few glasses of wine each. I did enjoy the food this time but the drinks are still so friggin overpriced. I was hungry within a few hours since all we each had was a few scoops of dip and a taco. Overall it was better than the first experience, but still not my ideal taco fiesta night.

We(party of 3) got here one BEAUTIFUL evening and naturally had to wait a bit for a table. No biggie, we head for the bar for some margaritas. The bar, as many of the places around Peekskill, seems to be an afterthought. It’s small and near the door so there’s a constant flow of traffic past you. I can see this will NOT be a hangout come Winter. Anyway, the margarita gets a big thumbs down from me. Tastes like cheap tequila and possible made with something aged. I want a drink that tastes fresh and clean… this was not. Table ready and we head over and look at the menu. I expected something a little different. They have a small but varied selection of tacos and while only 5 $ each, they are pretty small. But still, for $ 10 or $ 15, most people are going to be satisfied. The apps we delish. We split a couple of different things but the wings were the most memorable. Service was on fleek! I may be back for a sidewalk beer and some wings, but it’s not on my Top 10 for Westchester.(Was going to give 2 stars, apps made it 3).

Been meaning to try this place all summer and finally came here last weekend on the way home from spending the afternoon at a beer festival in Beacon. It was a Saturday but we were on the early side(6) so we got a table for 2 outside no problem. We started with some chips and guac/pico de gallo. The guac was nothing special but the pico de gallo was very refreshing. For entrees we each got two tacos. I had the fried shrimp and the pork belly. I enjoyed the protein in both but the toppings were a little bland and uninspiring– shredded iceberg lettuce, tomato, etc. I had just happened to be at bartaco in Port Chester the day before, which I love, so I was finding myself comparing the two. I think Taco Dive Bar has a great location and some potential, I’d be willing to give it another shot but they really need to re-think their pricing. The tacos should be $ 3.50−4.00/ea, not $ 5, or they should have a 2 for $ 7⁄8 special. Another option would be to keep the taco prices the same but up their game with the toppings, the pickled onions on the pork belly taco at bartaco are amazing!

I took it upon myself to get liquored up and run through the entire menu at this place. It was a tough job, but I owed it to you as a your friendly neighborhood Unilocaler. Taco Dive Bar is good enough, and different enough, to survive in Peekskill. One note, this is not a Mexican restaurant. It’s more like somebody crashed a taco truck into a building and set up shop. You don’t get beans and rice with your meal, and that’s fine. People need to stop getting pissed just because they don’t understand the concept of ala carte dining. We started with the appetizers. The chicken wings were amazing, something I didn’t expect from a taco place. They’re great because of two things: The crunch from being perfectly deep fried in some hot ass oil that hasn’t been cooled by dumping too many things into it at once(something every other bar is guilty of), and the«maple spiked Mexican hot sauce,» which is a perfect blend of sweet and spicy. We also got the Fiesta Dips, which gives you a sampling of all four dips Taco Dive Bar offers with their chips. The Guacamole was… guacamole. Fresh, good, nothing groundbreaking. The Ranchero sauce and Bean Dip were better. Hot, and hearty, respectively. Finally, the chevre with jalapeño red pepper jelly was excellent. Which is odd, because when I go to a dive bar, my mind doesn’t say«yeah, let’s order the goat cheese!» Next came the tacos, which run $ 4-$ 5 a piece, and can be ordered at any time while sitting down. My friend finished his two, and decided to order another two while I ran my gauntlet o’ tacos, and the kitchen had them out in record time. Now for the ratings: ***Seasoned Beef– It’s a beef taco. No frills. You’ve had one before, but this one is probably better. *****Adobo Citrus Marinated Chicken– Holy hell, this one is phenomenal. The corn and mango make it pop. Despite lacking the fancier ingredients of the other tacos, this is probably the best on the menu. *Fried Gulf Shrimp– There’s other ingredients on here, but the fact that you’re biting into breaded shrimp, wrapped into a tortilla, washes those flavors out a bit. It’s a Po’ Boy taco. ****Smoked BBQ Pork– Another great taco. The slaw really sets this one off. **Black Angus Brisket– This is a love it or hate it taco. The pickled veggies and onions are STRONG, and every bite is like getting kicked in the back of your mouth. I liked it, but it’s definitely not for everybody, and I could only eat one of these. ***Portabella and Feta– Good flavor, but what do feta and mushrooms have in common? Tons of water, in the fact that feta needs to be kept in brine to keep from drying out, and mushrooms are practically made of the stuff. So while there’s some things to love here, especially if you’re a non-vegan vegetarian, the whole thing just felt wet. **Pork Belly– Another solid addition. The texture of the pork belly is a little tougher than most taco fillings, which gives you something nice to bite into.
