A pretty decent Modell’s — especially when compared to the New Roc City location. Upon coming here, you might think this store is 2 floors, but it’s only one. You just walk in and take an escalator(or steps) up. Not sure why the waste of space, but it’s likely the building’s fault. I’ve been at this location several times and usually leave with something — though Modell’s prices can sometimes be a little high generally. I can usually find what I’m looking for, be it sneakers, sweatshirts, or exercise equipment. The floor employees usually always ask me if I need help(though I never do because I know what I’m looking for and where to find it) and are usually pleasant with me. The store is usually neat and doesn’t look in shambles as other locations tend to look. They’ve always been decently stocked and I’m found most things I came in to get in the first place. The prices can be steep on certain items. The cashiers are generally ok. Sometimes you get a cashier who looks like they’d rather be anywhere else but at their job, but I’ve never had much of a problem and they’ve rung me out with no issues whatsoever. The only problem I might have is the actual ringing area. Some customers are very easily confused with simple concepts and I’ve actually gotten into arguments with customers who think they’re waiting in line, despite an actual line of customers standing in the right spot already. This has happened more than once and I’ve had two arguments with clueless, rude, idiot customers at this location because of it. They do have a small sign stating where the line starts, but due to a lot of customers these days being brain dead, they really ought to fix up the register area a little better and make it less likely for problems with moron customers. Located in a sizable, but poorly laid out parking lot(not the store’s fault). Really, not a bad store as far as Modell’s go and it’s the most preferred location to me.

The entire team here requires retraining, starting with the manager! All I need to know is, why does the security guard knows more than the employees, mind you, he’s not employed by Modells. I was returning an item without a receipt and inquired if they could look it up via the card I utilized. The security guard informed me that it was possible. I stood in line for a period of time because there were only two cashiers. Once I was called, I explained that I didn’t have my receipt and she stated she couldn’t look it up and I would get a store credit. I politely declined and stated that I would look for receipt at home. However, another cashier informed her it could be done by calling customer service… However, they should call the manager. During this time, the line had grown massively(over 30 people) and the customers began to complain. The manager comes to inquire what I needed and tells me that customer service is not available on the weekends… another cashier informs him otherwise. He’s like oh, it’s a different department. Really!!! All I need to know is who’s doing the training here because there is a serious disconnect. This seems to be an ongoing trend here and will be the demise of this location. This place is really disorganized and I won’t be back.

There is an employee here, Matthew, and he is the worst of the worst. He was so unorganized while ringing me up it took him 20 minutes to check me out and I only had a few items. He rang the item up rolled it in a ball and then when he was done he realized he forgot to take the security tags off. and then he confused him self checking he rang everything up and then checking all the items for a security tag .it was so unorganized that i actually doubled check to make sure he didn’t charge me twice for everything. He then proceeded to roll my items into a ball and place them in a bag… awesome. Also they have no sneaker sizes. My bf wanted to try on three different pairs and he left empty handed. their womens selection is small and very limited to say the least.

Lots to choose from and a nice selection of sporting goods and equipment. My only issue? Where the hell are the people that work here? I had to walk around the store to find an associate just to ask a question about a softball bat. Other then that, they’re pretty well stocked with sizes and variety.
