They offer a selection of dishes and a fresh salad as a buffet. However, if you call in advance you can order things not in the buffet, including South Indian dosas, uthappam and idli. We ate at the buffet, and really enjoyed it. The food is very good — tastes like real home cooking. The folks who run it are so warm and welcoming. It was a real pleasure to find in Pendelton. We certainly plan on coming back whenever we’re passing through!

This charming and delightful Indian spot is just as authentic as it appears. Owned by the sweetest husband/wife duo, the food is freshly prepared(the buffet was restocked multiple times from the kitchen while we were there), full of real ingredients, and the flavors are multi-layered and complex. I would highly recommend this to anyone passing through Pendleton!

Family run by loving people! Ate here three times in four days and each day the entrees on the buffet were different. It is vegetarian buffet only– no menu. I am a vegetarian, so this was perfect and tasty every day. Wonderful service! Naan was fantastic. Order the garlic naan. The restaurant was clean and had all gluten free food labeled as such.

Fantastic. Roomy and clean, exceptional food, super friendly owner/staff. Vegan cuisine, flavorful chutneys, lemon rice and Govinda squash were delightful.

We had such an amazing dinner at this wonderful Indian restaurant. Each dish had its own distinct flavor. The seasonings were subtle and very flavorful. The owners, Andrea, chef, and her husband Surya, made us feel like we were eating in their home, from the moment she opened the door to the time we left. We will go back there on our return trip. If you like Indian food, this place shouldn’t be missed.

Was on the road from Washington State to Arizona. Decided to stop in Pendleton for a bite to eat and wandered into this place. They’ve got the best Indian food I’ve ever had. The proprietor was extremely friendly and took the time to show us around the restaurant, and served us fresh naan bread. The buffet was only $ 10, and I didn’t find anything that I disliked after sampling the whole menu. Freaking delicious.

This place blew my mind. Who knew Pendleton would have such a gem. It’s kind of hidden in a dumpy building with dusty windows but is by far the best place to stop for dinner on the I84 corridor. This restaurant would be hard to get into and super expensive if it were in a large city.

This is an excellent Indian vegetarian restaurant. The food was well prepared and the spices were delicious. It is owned and operated by a local Indian family. Our dinner served as a delightful prelude to our watching the movie One Hundred Foot Journey, a movie about Indian cooking. It is a welcome addition to Pendleton and we will definitely eat there again.

Vegetarian ANDVEGAN! The best food and nicest owners. The owner/chef said he can not stand the cruelty towards animals and before when he was working in a non veg restaurant he prayed that one day he would be able to be in a vegetarian restaurant. EXCELLENT Indian food that’s cruelty free. Eat here for sure!

Outstanding! I absolutely love the amazing food! Highly recommended! Govindas Squash curry, and the Paneer dishes are incredible. Also the prices are more than fair. I come here at least twice a week and I am never disappointed.

Amazing. Healthy and filling and pleasant and friendly. Also incredibly inexpensive. It’s a buffet, and nothing on the table is less than fantastic. Finishing with fennel was an unexpected treat. We shall return. Many thanks.

We ate the lunch buffet and enjoyed the selection of vegetarian dishes, garlic naan and delicious chai tea, which were all included in the price of the buffet. The friendly owners were warm, attentive and welcoming and explained the buffet offerings. We would go back when we pass through Pendleton again– in a Minnesota minute!

I have to give Govinda’s a five star rating, just based on the fact that it is in Pendleton… that being said, the food here is amazing. Everything I had was spot on! One of the best dosa I have ever eaten. I also had the Thali dinner, which was very substantial, served with papadum and fantastic garlic naan! In addition also tried the samosa chatt, which I highly recommend!(it is like a deconstructed samosa, topped with tomatoes, onions and cilantro). One of the best things about all the food here, is that it is not over salted… all of the different dals and curries that came to the table were fragrant, well spiced and so enjoyable, that I felt I was being transported to a wonderful place. Such a wonderful culinary addition to the area! Well done.

Govinda’s Garden is a wonderful addition to Pendleton! I have been for both lunch and dinner and enjoyed each. The buffet this afternoon was just what I needed. All the options are super flavorful and tasty. None are too spicy. I would eat here all the time if I had the chance. Govinda’s Garden leaves me feeling full and nourished but not stuffed. The food is vegetarian but you’ll be quite satisfied.

My first time there, my girlfriend and I both just got the buffet. My only complaint would be that none of the food was spicy at all, but it still managed to carry a lot of the powerful, delicious flavor that I’m used to having in Indian food. But after talking to the staff, this is apparently just because of the location, and they don’t want to make it hotter than the locals are able to handle. This is totally understandable. Apparently, you can request as much spiciness as you like when you order off the menu, so both of us are looking forward to trying that out very soon. The best part of the meal was probably the staff and the owners. They were just incredibly friendly, helpful people. It was a genuine pleasure to chat with a few of them briefly, and I hope to be seeing a lot more of them very soon. The restaurant was clean, with interesting and simple décor. The buffet included a salad bar with decent options and a couple Indian sauces that you could use as a dressing. The Tomato Chatni was the spiciest thing I had, and it wasn’t very spicy at that, but it was remarkably tasty nonetheless. My favorite entrée was the creamed curry spinach, which went especially well with the homemade garlic naan that came with the meal. And it’s affordable. So far, this is the only good food I’ve found in Pendleton except for the places that are twice as expensive. All in all, it was a fantastic experience, and i would recommend it to anyone.
