Yee Haw, just went Wednesday for the music and chicken dinner– fantastic time! Great food and music, sorry we just made it at the end of an era…

If you want great bands for free, super friendly people and a home-town roadhouse vibe that can’t be beat, come on down to the Twin Oaks. Just eat somewhere else first!

This was a fantastic outdoor bar/restaurant with a casual, laid back vibe. I believe Sheila from Notable Talent assisted in putting together such a great and enjoyable party. The finger foods and appetizers — tasty, and a live band that appealed to many age groups. A resounding success!

Bands are great that they have. Proud of the bar for having a night to help with lake county victims. Now for the food it was good but the chef they had last night shouldn’t be cooking there. They ran out of bread for one of our dining party who wanted the grilled chicken sandwich. Then they switched the broccoli for Kale and they didn’t give him his chips tried to switch it a bag of chips then gave him French fries. Another of our group ordered the linguica and they forgot the shrimp — pretty good. One other was good nothing missing. I ordered the split pea soup with ham — excellent. My problem I wanted some cheese and sour cream to put on top and was told they didn’t have any — well okay. But the chef came out and chastised me for asking for them saying they don’t go on the soup. Obviously she has never been to Split Pea Andersons. Not to mention if I want it don’t question my request. It isn’t up to her. Will I ever eat there again probably not unless they get rid of that cook. Very rude.

I have to say that the other evening, we went in for the patio series and stayed all night! I was psyched to see the old bartender from before it changed ownership – the cool dude w the great stache – and he made me killer margaritas. The food rocked. The bands were awesome. Way to go Twin Oaks!

BIG parking lot. Inside is a little dark and dingy… but the patio is CHARMING as hell. Smoking sections available. Cute little flowers everywhere. A deck for live music. The wine was good. The food… was… INCREDIBLE. How the hell. I was blown away by the burgers and roasted Brussel sprouts. I would literally drive an hour for the way they cook their vegetables.(see attached photo) Their staff was very friendly as well. Happy and cheerful. Definitely stop by here on your way in or out of wine country to enjoy the patio and watch the sunset.

Hey what a great tavern! It’s got a very chill, laid back vibe and good food to top — I ordered the fish and chips, it was just great. My dad is coming out to the west coast for his first time and he loves really authentic taverns so I’m definitely going to bring him here. Such a great atmosphere!

Twin Oaks Tavern 4÷12÷15 I was visiting my friend up in Santa Rosa, Ca yesterday, and we had just seen a great performance of a play named the«Death Trap». Fast-paced, and truly hilarious. Sorry, it was the last performance around Cotati, Ca. After the play, she recommended a nearby ‘hot spot’ called Twin Oaks Tavern– a place she experienced a number of years ago that had great live music, barbecue, dancing and an upbeat atmosphere. As we got out of the car to walk towards the entrance, the sound of the live band was uplifting and ‘a-rockin!‘ I had never noticed this spot before(I had passed by a few times over the years). I was thinking… ‘Sometimes, we can find those California nuggets when we look just a little closer’. The placed was packed on this lovely Sunday afternoon– everyone was happy– the decibels were up… the band knocking out great blues. We found a spot to sit under the semi-shaded patio area; the level of sound being a bit less intense and more pleasing to my older ears. My true disappointment was about to come, however, after I ordered their great smellin’ BBQ ribs dish. For $ 14(not a low-ball price tag), I’m looking for a great ribs meal. Let me preface by quoting another friend, Kathryn, who surprised me one day when she made the claim that… «I’m a ”Foodie». I like good food. I love to be in my kitchen… workin’ recipes… getting it right… it is ALL about freshness and taste. I’m pushing 68 yrs young, and I’ve never, ever experienced such uncaring mediocrity in roadside BBQ. Three small ribs– tender… yes– but devoid(I’m talking totally) of any authentic BBQ sauce flavor. I was asked if I wanted hot, medium or mild, figuring that they’re offering three levels of heat in the sauce department(nice touch). But when I saw the food prep dude sprinkle a bit of chili powder(or whatever it was) on my three small, paltry looking ribs, suddenly my expectations started lowering. Still, when he laid down a scoop of coleslaw to the side, along with a mouth-watering looking corn muffin– my anticipation rose once more… Ah…Ribs, fresh, delicious coleslaw and country corn bread! Lord, take me now! I couldn’t wait to get back to the table. My heart dropped from the lack of authenticity in real BBQ food. No taste(except for that bit of sprinkled ‘spice’) The coleslaw. also devoid of any lip-smacking flavor anyone, including ‘non-Foodies’ would expect. I think they must dilute a lifeless dressing and then lightly spray a bit of it on the top. Just to save a penny or two… at $ 14 bucks?! Lastly, a corn muffin so bland– salt-less, no taste at all. Even a boxed corn bread exceeds this ‘quality’. At this point I’m stunned… and rather moody. Doesn’t anyone here taste this food? The knife I felt in my heart was… how do I explain this… unbelievable… A full Tri-fecta of miserable apathy. From the reviews I read here on Unilocal,I don’t know if these owners are aware of the current state of their fare, or maybe they don’t need to care, since the band brings in the big money from the booze sales. A big One-Star for the live music. Maybe their BBQ tastes better when you’ve got a few drinks in you. I presented my thoughts to the food guy… his response was.“Well, if that’s way you feel…” and, «I don’t make the food, I just serve it’. Apathy. I requested that he might inform his boss of my concerns…“He’s around here somewhere…». NO expression of concern. Double Apathy. The Tri-fecta of Apathy– Some people just don’t freakin’ care. I sincerely hope you owners take heart and look to raise the level of your food quality. Your customers deserve better. Maybe I’ll revisit sometime later down the road to see if they’ve made any adjustments– I do hope they work to re-fire their Country ‘Soul’. ==========================================

This place is great– it’s a 100 year old tavern, a mix of every kind of customer, and staff. That’s interesting! They book the best music in the county and we ALWAYS have a great time there. Truly a locals spot, ranchers and suits, and it’s a friendly place.

Love what the new owners have done with the place. I don’t live far away, but will take time to drop by if I’m anywhere nearby. The bartenders are competent and friendly, and the clientele is very local and unassuming. Always have a good time even if I’m only there for a quick stop. Love the rear patio area in the summer, they have a great mix of bands/genres, especially The Blues Defenders. Often run into people I do business with and love reconnecting with them. Definitely worth stopping by even if only for a drink or some good conversation, one of my favorite places to go in mid county.

I don’t Unilocal often; I use the sight mainly to check out what’s good around town. That being said– this place is my favorite kinda bar. It holds true to a ranchy, local style«dive» vibe– but has a beautiful rustic back door patio scene with live music. You can sit and sip your beverage of choice at a picnic table and listen to the band. The bartenders are all different kinds of people, which I love! Character behind the bar is key, to me… this is a go to if you’re in the neighborhood.

The patio area is great to see live music and get your tan on. Cool adirondack chairs and room to dance. The Rasta BBQ is the hot ticket at Twin Oaks!

I love this place which I discovered sort of by accident. A friend and I came on a Tuesday night for Levi’s Workshop(don’t miss it). We were told there was no food but the bartender invited us to bring in food, which we did from Superburger down the road. Twin Oaks retains its true, historical road house feel but offers a friendly and casual atmosphere, top-shelf(if not always well-known) musicians, and yummy barbeque on the weekends. I’ve seen all sorts of music here but haven’t tried the karaōke yet. That’s something to look forward to. Will be trying lunch tomorrow.

The new owners have changed the place . Great music and food! I love what the new owners are doing with the Twin Oaks Bar. However, the picture of Rasta Dwight ‘s BBQ is slightly misleading as you get only half of what ‘s shown in the picture and it ‘a on a PAPERPLATE with plastic utensils. The food is also cash only and I think they need to get with it on that.

An honest local bar and informal music venue, with a continuity of spirit reaching back decades to give it that authentic, grounded nature. Swap out the flat-panels and clear air for the old CRT TVs and cigarette smoke and you’re back in familiar Penngrove history. Even has a patio out back if the smoking still calls to you.

This is an authentic old time dive, roadhouse bar. It’s been here since the 1920’s, and it ain’t been updated much since then. Unless you consider stringing some xmas lights around the ceiling in the live music room an update. Oh and maybe the billiard table was replaced in the 1970’s. Bambi & I dropped in last night for some honky-tonk western music and $ 3.50 Budwieser pints on tap. The live band was worth the free admission /no cover charge. They played from 8pm — 10:30pm. The place was pretty well populated with clients, though not oppressively so. Average age here is 60, lots of local farmers, truck drivers, cowboys and the women who love them. Saturday nite: The place started to empty out by 10pm — Getting past bedtime. There’s a full liquor license, though in my 2 hours I did not see one cosmopolitan, margarita, mojito, daiquiri, or other foo-foo drink made. You probably could order one at the risk of getting a bemused chuckle out of the bartender or a bar mate. Food: Some jerk chicken, gumbo, mac ‘n cheese was being dished out on flimsy paper plates this evening, though I understand that’s a once-per-week only deal. The food did not look or smell note worthy. Even though I’m always hungry, I passed. So dress up in some worn jeans, cowboy boots would be a good choice, plus a well worn baseball cap(John Deere logo optional). You’re gonn’a fit right in.
