I wasn’t impressed with their décor but all the staffs are super nice. The dishes did impress me. The plates are avg prices and very tasty. It is well worth it to try and its byob.

This restaurant has changed hands a number of times and the quality has seemed to dip with the latest ownership. The sushi is fairly decent, but our last few meals(dinners) ordering other Asian food has been progressively disappointing(sadly, because it’s the most convenient spot for us to order from). Case in point, we ordered family take out on a Friday night — with the restaurant almost empty — and came away unimpressed across the board. You really shouldn’t be able to screw up General Tso’s chicken, but this had almost no flavor and even our young kids didn’t like it. One of their specials for the night — the salt and pepper shrimp — was given to us with the shells still on. The presentation looked good and the shrimp were good-sized, but any flavor or pan-seared goodness that was on the shells that got peeled away. We were stunned and I almost called them back right then and there. It seemed like a rookie error. The pork-fried rice had frozen-tasting veggies(diced carrots, peas) in it. The chicken lo-mein was adequate, but again was lacking flavor. We also ordered an appetizer called Kalbi, a marinated beef short rib done Korean style. It sounded darn good, but turned out to be slimy and very tough. Really, really disappointing. We’ve given this spot a number of chances, but sadly I don’t think we’ll be back. When you’re screwing up staples like General’s and fried rice, you lose some credibility. We have gotten some good dishes here, but the inconsistency is frustrating. At this point, sorry to say, we’ll order comparable sushi from other restaurants in the area and definitely seek out other options for Chinese food.

What an outstanding meal we just enjoyed at Toro, in Pennington. The presentation was superb, the sashimi was extremely fresh and the chef even gave us a delicious whitefish tempura appetizer on the house. Excellent service and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere completed the experience. I highly recommend this establishment!

Excellent drove 1 and ½ hrs on our way to the airport notice we were early so we stop for dinner. Crispy duck salad is to die for as well as the duck rolls. Don’t forget the fried cheesecake for dessert Winner !

The chicken tempura is super yummy and comes with brown or white rice. The wonton soup is really delicious too but comes with 3 small noodles, I could eat a few servings since it’s such a small portion. The best time to hit it up would be during the lunch specials on Monday through Friday

Fantastic sushi. Fresh fish and avocado with the perfect proportions of rice and filling. It was probably the most flavorful spicy tuna roll I’ve ever had. Great lunch prices, I would definitely come back here.

We are kinda sushi snobs and getting sushi from a Chinese restaurant wasn’t in the plan. So, we opted for the Chinese food. It was very good and I would recommend it. I had the crispy duck salad. Delicious! Next time we’ll try the sushi as Pennington doesn’t have much in variety there.

We tried this place for the first time today and my husband and I were very satisfied! Everything tasted super fresh, I’m very picky when it comes to sushi and I’m definitely getting sushi from this place again!!! Loved it!!!

This is the best sushi restaurant in Pennington. End of story. Yellowtail jalapeño appetizer is terrific. If you are local and in the mood for sushi, then Toro is the place to go.

We had the spicy tuna crunch roll but the tuna tasted like it was from a can. No free refills on soft drinks. And the pad Thai was bland, it didnt have any flavors. The wonton soup tasted like it was cooked in miso soup broth and the spring rolls tasted like they were from a box. But the green tea ice cream and the ocean special roll were tasty. Service was very friendly and it has a good atmosphere. Overall, the restaurant was not worth the high prices. I will not be returning.

No sake, so factor that into your plans. The sushi is light, fresh and amazing. It’s artistically crafted and delicious. The service is excellent. I will be visiting next time I am in town, for sure.

I loved, loved, loved their Garlic sauce! Omg! So good. They cook their veggies al dente. Thought sushi was very tasty and fresh. Place is clean and modern. Look forward to trying their fried ride and lo mein. Service is hit or miss. Always very nice. Went for lunch and service was very slow. Not good when your on your break. Enjoy!

Toro Sushi is the new, vastly upgraded version of Edo Sushi in the same location in the Pennington Market shopping center. Décor, food and service have been significantly improved. Excellent pork gyoza, with a thin, delicately pan-fried exterior — delicious! Crispy duck rolls were also very good. Salad is a nice portion, very fresh and crisp. Prefer the orange Chicken over the General Tso’s or sesame chicken — more flavor. I had them sprinkle sesame seeds over the Orange chicken and asked for sushi rice as a replacement over regular steamed rice. Very tasty. Sushi also excellent, according to my better half. Overall, I highly recommend Toro Sushi!

Toro is a very fine addition to the variety of restaurants in Pennington. The staff is knowledgable and extremely helpful in guiding us through their menu of delicious offerings. And if you are adventurous in a small degree you can sample some really wonderful genuine and delicious Chinese dishes. Do not be afraid to try some excellent new things as well as the usual items that you’ve usually enjoyed. although they have been open only a few short months, I have had a good number of very good dining experiences there. Not too pricey either.

I liked Edo sushi so I thought I’d give Toro a try for takeout. My husband got General Tso’s chicken and said it was«blah.» I ordered Shrimp Pad Thai and ended up taking home Chicken Pad Thai. I understand that mistakes happen, but the place was almost empty so it’s not like they were so busy and that’s why they got my order wrong. On top of that, it was so dry and flavorless I stopped eating it. I’ve never had any Asian food that I didn’t want to finish. Please don’t waste your money here.

They have fixed the place up and it looks cleaner and more modern than the former edo. Even their serving plates are pretty and contemporary. Food is fresh and tasty and well presented.
