Definitely got a «taste» of India today. And it was great! We went here on a Sunday for lunch after getting out of church; had never been before but saw it on the«nearby» button on Unilocal so we decided to give it a try. Back in DC there were tons of places to get delicious Indian food, so it had been over a year since last having it. Taste of India has a lunch buffet for $ 15, where you can try all the different dishes instead of simply sticking to one. I have tried many different Indian dishes after living next to an Indian family for 3 years, but they even had a couple I had never had before! Delicious! I made a point to try a little portion of each dish they had, found a couple new favorites! The tandoori chicken was a bit cold at first, but right after I sat down fresh chicken was put out and as more people filtered in the doors, the food was continuously brought out, both fresh and hot! Only other personal complaint is I’m used to a much thicker style Naan bread, but the flavor was still great on theirs. Our waiter was very nice and even stayed to talk to us about the different dishes and how they are prepared! Always nice when the people working in a restaurant are kind enough to talk to you and treat you like a friend rather than a paycheck. He even had us try a «mango ice cream» which he explained was fresh mangos blended with heavy whipping cream and condensed milk then frozen. It was phenomenal! I thought about stealing the whole tray of it from the bar and running for the car, but my wife unfortunately advised against it… Anyways, great food, great service, don’t be afraid to try something new!

If you’re in the area, their lunch buffet is a must! Service is always friendly, and the food is always very fresh. Haven’t been for dinner yet because the lunch buffet has such a nice variety!

As far as Indian goes, and I’ve definitely had my fair share of it… It is mediocre. I’ve had way better and way worse. I would say they could amp up the spices, and the food on the buffet at lunch is regularly cold, which for the price seems a little ridiculous. But if you have a horrible hankering for Indian this will lightly scratch your itch.

Been here twice, never tried Indian food before this place. The first time I went I didn’t know where to start, but a gentleman who I believe was the owner asked my party and I a few questions about our tastes and made some recommendations. I took his word and man was I ever so pleasantly surprised! Still don’t remember exactly what our dishes were called but mine was a creamy yellow chicken dish, almost kind of sweet! Delicious! And the naan bread was right on time, no utensils needed. I loved it all so much I came back and tried the lunch buffet, another great decision great way to try a wide variety of dishes. Haven’t tried one I didn’t like yet.

Worst indian food. if you really know what indian food is. they mixed up my order and gave me some thing else. I ordered onion kulcha, lacha paratha and nan bread 2 each. When i opened my order, I had 6 body bothered to mention to me they packed 6 same breads. even they mixed up with my dal. I spent close to 80 dollars and looking for decent food. The place is shabby and their kithcen is really dirty and unhygenic!!. Plz dont call it best indian food, man up, serve real indian food! I would have given negative stars but Unilocal wont allow me to do that. Finally went to Wendys and got ! Plz check your order before stepping out of resturant! Proud indian!

I have not had Indian cuisine in nearly 20 years. This was better than a reintroduction it was one of the best meals I’ve had out in years. We only ordered a few dishes, but a good variety, at the advice of the owner who was very nice. All the meat was cooked perfectly. The tikka masala was divine and all the other spices and sauces we’re perfection. Perhaps the best part of the entire meal though was the samosa. I love samosas and have not have them a decade and this did more than do them Justice.

The food here is really awesome, especially if you like Indian food. They have plenty of choices if you are a vegetarian too. The staff is great and helpful in explaining what some of the dishes are. This was my first time eating here and I would recommend the buffet since you get to try a lot of different things without the risk of being stuck with something you do not like. Also, the mango ice-cream is divine!

Worst Indian I’ve ever been to. I’m a firm believer that maybe some restaurants have bad nights, but my family and I have been here 4 – 5 times and I still can’t get over that this is passable for 4 stars! The food is super greasy(grease stains all over the table), the waitstaff seems to be annoyed, the curries are full of just liquid with hardly any veggies or meat! The naan really is a glorified breadstick, nothing like the dozens of other Indian restaurants I’ve experienced. Try Dinner India and you won’t be disappointed.

Delish! I had a vegetarian curry dish and it was excellent. I have a feeling basically everything they make is good. Too bad I don’t live close or I’d be back soon!

The atmosphere and service was great. Unfortunately, the lunch buffet was lacking. Good selection… But, the quality of food was poor and the flavor wasn’t present. Not enough spices were used in the recipes leaving the food bland. They were also out of the only Indian alcoholic beverage offered.

One of the Best Indian restaurants I have been to! Great service and great food. Had the tandoori chicken dinner. The vindaloo curry is great for those who are craving some hot & spicy! Highly recommended to anyone who has a craving for Indian food.

I want to give this place 4 stars, but it would be a disservice to my standard on how I rate. It has 4.5 stars already, I do think that’s fair, but in my honest opinion this place is a solid A-OK 3 stars. Why? This place epitomizes the fact that you should lower your food standards in Pensacola. You just can’t readily get amazing food in this area, especially if you’re looking for non-American food. Take Nom Izakaya on Palafox, for example, it’s a terrible excuse for Japanese cuisine – probably only good to the untrained tongue. Same at Taste of India, it’s good enough to eat, but for real it’s bland and not even close to amazing Indian food you can get in places where Indian food is commonplace. I wouldn’t even really recommend coming here to get your Indian food fix. The good thing about this place is that the service is great. The owner personally welcomes you and gives you good recommendations. This doesn’t mean that the food will be mind-blowing though. I also did like the metal cups. My friend and I ordered the meat platter and the goat curry which comes with rice. I think that it should automatically come with naan. I had to order some garlic naan after we already had our food so that was somewhat annoying waiting for it. I think that they should ask if you want naan or rice when they take your order. Maybe the Pensacola population prefers rice so that’s why it’s automatic. They put a lot of garlic on the naan which I did like, but was interesting that they did it that way since most places I’ve been to the garlic is more subtle but present. Anyway, I wouldn’t come back here if I wanted good Indian food. But if you really, really want some Indian food I think this place will do – just not for a seconds or thirds.

With many of the typical features of an Indian-American restaurant, Taste of India executes their menu items well. We had the Samosas Chaat which was delicious and a very generous and filling appetizer, Vegetable Korma, delicious Chicken Tikka Masala which I highly recommend, Raita, Garlic Naan and Onion Kulcha. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend is the Mulligatawny Soup which was flavored well but too thin for my taste, a little like highly seasoned water. Seemingly a family-run operation, the service was good until we went to the cash register to pay and no one had a record of what we ate. We remembered and told them but it was a little odd.

I would have rated 5 for the taste of food but how will you enjoy the taste when you have very bad service. It was just 7.00 pm still The lady who took order, seem to be owner, was so shroud that she forced us to order extra saying she will not entertain anything additional even naan later. Menu and price were completely different than one published online. Gave us plastic spoons(see pictures).Overall left very bad taste and experience.

Delicious, with tons of vegan options! The staff is friendly and always willing to help with suggestions. A Taste of India specializes in North Indian cuisine and is quickly becoming a favorite of ours. The family style servings are generous and extremely flavorful. Bring an appetite & your wanderlust.

Whether it’s authentic Mexican food or Indian food, the panhandle of Florida is notorious for not having it. Thankfully, in Pensacola, there is Taste of India to fill that void and give those of us who live hours away a taste of, well, India. We came here for the lunch buffet on a Sunday and it was surprisingly packed. Families of 10 crammed into long tables stuffing themselves with curry and naan. Unfortunately, the staff was more interested in seating the newcomers and water refills than replenishing the buffet offerings. A third of the trays were swiped clean and there was no naan in the tray after 12:10. Considering we eat with our hands, it’s probably also a good idea to provide more than one piece of paper napkin per person(what is it with Asian places and being cheap with the napkins?) The quality of the food is about average, if they can just replenish the buffet items, considering that this is one of the only Indian restaurants for hours around, they will be an even bigger hit.

YAAAAS bish yaaaaaas!!! I ate here last night, and I wanted to scream from the rooftops about how much I enjoyed my meal! I ordered the tiki masala lamb curry, a yogurt sauce, and the garlic naan bread. Yes – this was all for one person. Everything was excellent, but the one thing I enjoyed the most was the masala because it came out piping hot! Many cooks need to take notes and learn something from this restaurant. Food taste absolutely amazing when it comes out hot. The customer service was great too! Our server was so personable and friendly! The Indian silverware was also a nice touch. For dessert I ordered a mango lassi, which tastes like flavored kefir to me! Absolutely amazing! I’ll be back next week. I want to try the buffet next time, or a shrimp curry!
