So let’s say you are from out of town and looking for some good vegan food. You check out Unilocal and find there is a place close by called Sluggo’s– great! When you walk in, you might go, «hmmm, am I in the right place?» You are, my friend… just keep on the track, and you won’t be sorry. Sluggo’s is a dive bar type place, with mismatched furniture and wobbly tables. You just aren’t sure as you sit here what kind of meal you will be in for. Order from the bartender & see what happens. I have eaten here twice, and both times I was really delighted at the presentation of the dishes I have ordered as well as the taste. It just doesn’t fit with the surroundings. I don’t know who you’ve got in the kitchen, Sluggo’s– but they seriously know how to cook some vegan fare. Thank you for that. On our latest visit, I enjoyed the Sweet Thai Chili Bowl with veggies– the tofu was perfection. My husband ordered some serious vegan comfort food in the Pecan Crusted Seitan, which had garlic mashed potatoes, collard greens, mushroom gravy & a nice little fresh salad on the side. He loved every bit. So, come on in– don’t be shy. You won’t be sorry!

Being part vegan I was excited to find Sluggo’s. I think all the rave reviews have been written by friends. On street parking was all I could find. And at 50 cents per hour and it will take an hour, I think there’s only one cook. I couldn’t eat the bread on my lentil patty melt it was too tough. I did manage to finish the inside. Everything about the place strikes me as an afterthought, let’s put some sheets on the wall instead of paint. One of the wait staff looked like she’d been awake 10 minutes. She had a rat’s nest of uncombed hair, I’m glad she wasn’t carrying our food.

Not bad for vegans and vegetarians. Service was a little slow, but would go back.

This place is amazing for vegans, vegetarians, and meat-eaters. Atmosphere — yes. Pleasant employees — yes. Great selection — yes. In the back of the restaurant there is a stage for poetry readings and musical talents. The only downside to Sluggo’s is the condition of the seats at the bar and booths, but perhaps it is part of the Sluggo’s experience. You decide.

The best spot in this small town for big thinkers. Delicious, cheap, and good for the soul(or at least contemplating what that might be).

The nachos are amazing! Very eclectic place. What is NOT to like about a vegan eatery?

A darkly lit bar surrounded by a mish mash of booths tables sets the scene for an unassuming but surprisingly delicious vegan restaurant. After waiting for a minute at the table we realized you order at the bar and the servers deliver you your meat-less delights to your table. The menu provided plenty of options for even the pickiest of vegans. I had the ginger curry bowl which was just the right amount of colorful well-spiced food but could have used a pinch more salt. My girlfriend had the portobello quesadillas which featured a zesty pesto that she described as «orgasmic». All in all a very pleasant experience. As an added bonus, you could treat yourself to as much filtered water as you wanted from the water cooler. Try it and get your veg on.

Really yummy vegan food! As a music venue, not so exciting, but the menu makes a visit worth your while! We’ve loved everything we’ve tried so far. Good alcohol selection and laid back atmosphere.

The food was good but got overcharged by $ 20. I was trying to get out with my kids and didn’t feel like fighting since I didn’t even get an itemized receipt.

Terrific vegan food! Counter style service where you order from the bar, but more attentive than a lot of table service I’ve seen. We had the club deluxe, the seitan bbq and the red pepper humus. I would recommend the club deluxe if you are only going to try one thing, but everything was well made. Decent beer selection and they have Abita root beer on tap.

VERYGOOD. Maybe it’s the fact that I’m deprived of vegan food where I currently live, but this was seriously sooo good. I don’t remember exactly what I ordered, The Scramble? Sounds about right. The food to price ratio can’t be beat. GREAT location if you plan on dinner before exploring downtown. My friend had a mushroom walnut burger, and had the mashed potatoes as her side. I’m not a potato fan at all, but these was delicious. I will be coming back for sure next time I’m in the area.

This place was a gem. I got the golden bowl(sub rice for mash) and it was huge and delicious and perfect. I couldn’t even finish it. My friend got the panhandle tofu and as a vegetarian he said he loved how it was like mock fish. He really lived the flavors. The server/bartender was running everything like a champion. The ambiance was gritty divey fun with a pinball machine. Definitely my go-to next time I’m in Pensacola.

Initially we were really excited when we saw the menu because it all sounded so good! That excitement quickly faded when we got our meals. I ordered the curried lentil soup and it was bland and watery. It could have been straight from an Amy’s soup can. My husband ordered the seitan Philly cheese steak sandwich and that was NOT a philly and the«cheese» sauce was more like a gravy. The gravy was good but calling it a Philly cheesesteak is a misnomer. He also got chili on the side and again, it tasted like it was straight from a can. In which case, you’re being over charged. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because the sandwich wasn’t horrible and I do appreciate the fact that they are a vegan restaurant– I know how hard it is to cook vegan food. Also, the prices aren’t outrageous for the food, fair value for calorie/$ 1

Excellent vegan option in Pensacola. Food always tastes fresh, good beers on draft, and prices are right. Inside feels like a dive bar, and service can be slow when bartender takes care of the tables. Place is small and I found a table to sit down right away each time, but I can see how that could be hard during peak times. Despite the shortcomings, this is one of my favorite places to eat in Pensacola. Oh, and did I mention I’m nowhere near vegan or vegetarian?

Came here for lunch after wanting to come here for month. As a result I really hyped it up in my head. I wasn’t disappointed! My boyfriend and I split the cheeky wings and I got the mushroom walnut burger because I hadn’t had a decent veggie burger in a while and my boyfriend got the barbecue sandwich with seitan. I usually make my own seitan so it was nice to be fed vegan food made by someone else! The wings were amazing and the burger was also great! I wish I went outside my comfort zone and tried maybe the Berliner or Philly seitan, so I definitely have to come back!

Just in Pensacola for the day. Luckily, a coworker knew of this place. We ordered out lunch, and the club sandwich I had was a veggie protein lover’s dream! Good lentil soup, too. I went there for dinner; the BBQ seitan sub was excellent, and the savory collards may have been the star of the day. Not in love with the smashed sweet potatoes; probably should’ve ordered the regular mashed potatoes. But that dinner was cheaper than most chain non-veg restaurants! I don’t care what you normally eat. Give this place a chance!

I’ve also been to the location in Chattanooga, TN, but this has a very different vibe and I saw they do poetry on Tuesday nights so I couldn’t make it. My friend and I went for lunch and shared the«fluffy» zucchini cakes, which were okay but I felt tasted very doughy. I went with the panhandle tofu platter over cabbage salad and with cornbread and it was tasty. I also picked up a Reuben sandwich with a side of collard greens to go and ate it the next day — delicious!!! I would definitely get that sandwich again. Service was extremely slow(even though the restaurant wasn’t busy) but our server was friendly and the food was good.
