We stopped in for lunch after spending the morning at the beach. We tried to eat dinner at the Orange Beach location, but it was a packed house! We were greeted immediately and advised to choose our seating. Our waitress arrived within 30 seconds to grab our drink order. We all went to wash our hands after ordering and there as no soap in the men’s room but we did get him some from the women’s. My husband and I both ordered the all you can eat shrimp basket which is the Wednesday special for $ 11.99. It came with fries, hush puppies, slaw and a corn fritter. We were both very please. I did not order any addition shrimp but my husband did. His second batch came quickly, however, it was overlooked. Both of my daughters ordered the chicken and fries for $ 5.99 each. They are a light breading and both girls enjoyed them. Good food, basic selections, prompt service!

The service was terrible. Apparently they placed another table’s order in front of ours(it was only me and my boyfriend) so we waited forever on our food. Finally after waiting, we got our food. It was okay, my wasn’t very good but my boyfriends was, but the thing that got me was it was so little. I just paid 30 something dollars to be hungry in 30 minutes. If you’re going to eat here, here’s a tip eat before you come.

Affordable — basic little place — good service/food We would go back. This is a good place to eat if you’re vacationing in the area and want affordable seafood. I recommend asking for food prepped without butter. Ours had a LOT of butter on everything that wasn’t fried —(too much butter). I also recommend going with a «light seasoning» if you go with blackened. I went light seasoning and it was still pretty salty, but had good flavor. Not going light would have been too much seasoning. Cole slaw was good, potatoes were good, and White fish and shrimp were great off the grill.

We have a pug and were looking for a place to eat this Christmas season. Although it was dark and windy, we asked to be seated outside and the waitstaff very capably agreed and served us with efficiency and friendliness. We were dining with a vegan and she was surprised when her red bens and rice came topped with large chunks of sausage so it would have been nice if the menu had specified what options were vegan and what weren’t vegan and what could have been made vegan(i.e. Ask for no sausage!). However, everyone else was very happy with their meals and we became OBSESSED with the turnip greens! We talk about calling in an order of like, 14 bowls of turnip greens haha. Maybe one day! Overall, we would definitely come back to the shrimp basket, especially if it became a little bit more friendly towards diverse dietary needs.

It’s rare that you find a place that has excellent food at an excellent price; The Shrimp Basket is that place. We had the all you can eat shrimp and they were delicious! Perfectly cooked, not greasy and the portion was large as was the refill portion. The coleslaw was some of the best I’ve ever eaten and it has tiny shrimp in it! They make their own cocktail and tartar sauce and they were excellent! A gem of a restaurant if you’re in the area The Shrimp Basket is a must! Our waitress was just ok; very few people skills and very short with customers. Otherwise a great experience.

This is the macdonalds of fish restaurants. I asked for local fish and they have none. The shrimp is likely from China. So after finding nothing clean to eat on the menu, I ordered turnip greens. It came in a styrofoam container and was from a can. The cheese on a kids grilled cheese was not cooked. They asked for us to give back any unused tartar sauce which I would think would be against health dept regulations? What if we spit in it? Gross.

So for Labor Day weekend a couple of my friends decided to order food to go from here. So this is strictly on my to do experience. The inside is pretty big & spacious. The bar is a good size too. The people that worked there were nice while I waited. This place isn’t expensive which is nice. My friend and I split the corn fritters, fried pickles, crab claws, cheese bread, & funnel cake. The corn fritters and funnel cake was my absolute favorite!!! Seriously the funnel cake was to die for. Everything else was just ok. My friend got chicken tacos, she said she didn’t really care for them. If I went back, it’s for the funnel cake!

We had a buy one get one free coupon, decided to use it tonight, we each ordered a oyster and shrimp basket. Oysters, cold inside, chalky, and old grease, shrimp not fresh, and old grease. Closed my bill with have of the shrimp and oysters still in basket. Embarrassing to know our out of town visitors thinks this is fresh seafood. Not coming back, wish I had taken a picture of the oysters and shrimp.

Server was very quick and offered zero conversation or recommendations. Check was brought to table prior to us finishing dinner and then change was given without any type of thank you or goodbye. Very cool vibe at this location as it has a beach feel :) Food wasn’t bad, Gumbo and the homemade hot sauce was solid.

Keep driving. Slow service(even when less than half full) and midwest quality seafood.

If you like fried seafood, you’ll experience average fried seafood. Nothing awesome but a pretty cool view of the sea… across the street and beyond the dunes.

We didn’t wait long for a table, which was awesome. We sat outside, lovely weather and perfect place for kids. Dinner started off with great appetizers; spicy shrimp, fried pickles, and hush puppies. They came out fresh, hot, and fast. Oysters on the half shell were great also, per my family. Everything went downhill from there. I bused our table because there were no waitresses and nowhere to put our appetizer dishes. It took a very long time to get our order and when our food finally arrived, Our food was cold, and I don’t mean a little bit cold or luke warm, but COLD. We sent it back and it returned to us the exact same way. Very disappointed. Don’t recommend.

Great place for lunch/dinner after tiring of the salt and sea. Got a pitcher and a dozen oysters, which were creamy LA ones(though they could have been colder). Adding shrimp to cole slaw is a great idea – loved the shrimp slaw. Coconut shrimp with orange marmalade were good, too. Missed having cilantro on the Mahi Mahi tacos, but the were good. Great sitting outside on the porch with the ocean breeze and water misters.

The shrimp basket was good and the stuffed crab were okay as well. However, the takeout took a extraordinary amount of time for just two orders. They said it would take 15 – 20 the phone, when we got there we had to wait an additional 15 mins(looks like they put the order in when we got there!)

The BEST fried shrimp I’ve ever had was at the Shrimp Basket! We eat there multiple times when we visit Perdido Key! Great service and prices too!

We ate here 3 times during our most recent trip to Florida. I really liked it here. Oceana was our server 2 out of the 3 times and she did a great job. I normally eat blackened grilled grouper and I did here twice. It was great. Drinks have plenty of booze in them. That is a plus. I liked the meaty oysters from the gulf too.

I don’t review chain restaurants but I would only consider this a pseudo-chain, locally owned and while there are many ‘Shrimp Basket’ locations, it gets a review. Generally thinking, this is a touristy place. Near the beach, on a long strip of beachfront highway, quick service but not fast food. It’s a great place to go after spending a day in the sand and not needing to worry about a shower or getting ready for lunch or dinner. Wear your flip-flops, bathing suit, throw on a coverup and enjoy the food! They have a limited menu, but think ‘platter’ style — shrimp, oysters, crab, fish, or whatever combo you can think of. Fried seems to be their specialty, but steamed and other options exist as do salads, etc. I would definitely recommend this place, and will return, but it isn’t really anything special compared to other roadside options.
