This is a Courtyard hotel with all of the Courtyard amenities. I arrived late in the evening and had to wait a while for someone to check me in, and I was given a room with 2 queens instead of the king I reserved. However, these are really minor inconveniences. The internet was fast and the hotel therefore is great for business. It is connected to the nicer Pere Marquette Mariott next door. That hotel has better dining options and was perfect for client meetings. All in all, it was a fine choice. Not the best, not the worst and good for business travel.

The new Courtyard in Peoria is a decent choice for downtown accommodations. I did book a king room and was given two queens without any explanation, however it was 10:30 at night when we checked in after a long day, and I didn’t care enough to go back downstairs and try to figure out why. The room was clean enough, in good repair and contained a mini fridge and a Keurig brewer with coffee pods but no tea. The towels were very soft and pretty thick, and the bed was comfortable. Our room on the eighth floor had a nice view of downtown and was quiet enough other than when the heating/cooling blower was off I could hear the elevator ding when it arrived, but then again we were really close to the elevator. There is a restaurant attached but we did not stop by there. Free parking was available and the hotel is walkable to downtown bars and restaurants.

The hotel was very nice, great beds, and shower had great water pressure. The room and the 2 other rooms in my party had the thermostat set to the low 60’s and on not auto. It was cold to say the least and did not warm up until the next day. Not only is that uncomfortable but a waste of energy. I called from the airport at 10:02 and they told me that there last shuttle to the airport was at 10 and that the person was already leaving so sorry. I would have let this go but then I was told that the shuttle doesn’t start running until 530−6am well my flight out was at 6am so they tell me to call the morning of and they will get me a taxi. Ok fine. I call at 4am and ask the person if they can call a taxi and they tell me that they can get me the number and I can call because they are going to ask me questions. Excuse me??? What?!? I I tell the person that I have no idea the address of the hotel and need to get ready to leave. I ask if she can call please and there is dead silence on the other end of the line. Yes she hung up on me! Called back 3 times, she finally answers, tells me she will call for me. Luckily when I go outside the hotel next door has several taxis waiting outside. She did not call for a taxi, wasn’t even at the desk when I walked through the lobby but was laying down on a couch. Rude! Sad! Unacceptable!

This hotel is new and, I am told, a much-touted downtown development project. But if Peoria wants to revitalize its downtown, I’m afraid it’s going to have to do better than this. Neither the amenties nor the service(or lack thereof) justified the pretty steep price tag compared to other nearby options. I am a Marriott Rewards member, so I generally choose Marriott when I can, but this place was well below usual Courtyard standards — which are not luxury, but generally fine in my experience elsewhere. I used both the hotel’s business services and its guest rooms — I booked a conference room and then stayed one night. My experience with the conference room was all-around lousy. When I arrived, the desk attendant had no record of the booking, and I had to dig it up in my email. When I got up there, the room was locked. When they unlocked it, they did not give me a key, so we could not come and go from the room and leave our stuff there. When I requested a key, it took nearly an hour to get it to me. We had been told that pens and pads would be provided, but I had to ask that they be put out for us, they were locked away. The room was freezing. It took 45 minutes for banquet services to come up to tell me the price of coffee service(which was through the roof). You get the idea. There was one very helpful employee who did her best to navigate me through this service train wreck(thank you, Ana!), but there was only so much she could do. And the troubles didn’t end when I got up to my room. The thermostat was broken, so it was recording the ambient temperature as in the mid-70s when it was actually much colder. I waited while the HVAC guy fiddled with it for about 45 minutes, and they finally moved me into another room — where the thermostat was still funky. The place was all-around cold; one gets the sense this is how they’ve decided to economize. I would add that both the«bistro» downstairs and the Table 19 restaurant are not recommended — they both appear to strive for mediocrity and never quite achieve it. Finally, I would note that the operations manager reached out with a form email to solicit feedback after my stay, making a point of saying he reads all customer comments. Perhaps he does, but he evidently does not respond to them, as I never heard back when I sent this same information to him in reply.

If you are ever in the Peoria area, stay at this hotel! We were coming from Chicago for a wedding which the wedding party actually stayed at other known hotels and was not impressed for the price. The ambiance of the lobby area will capture your attention instantly. The staff is very nice and helpful. We were very shocked that the place seemed so dry of guest staying in the hotel but that doesn’t bother some out-of-towners wanting to enjoy their stay in piece. The beds are so comfortable, we wanted to sleep the whole time LOL! The hotel staff stopped by to bring some towels early, I just wished they would come in the afternoon to make up the beds like most hotels but nevertheless, I would stay here at the Courtyard any day. My only warning is to be prepared for a $ 20/day hold on your credit/debit card which I think is a silly policy due to something about if I charge something to my room. I’m still unsure why this policy is in place because if I wanted to charge something then you’ll have my card info or I’ll pay with cash/debit.

Giving this 5 stars in relation to other Courtyards. This is one of the nicer Courtyards I have stayed at, and I’ve stayed at quite a few. Of course it helps that it is brand new! Just open a week or two! It is located immediately adjacent to the downtown Marriott. It is a 10-story building. I found the staff and rooms very nice. Beds and pillows are comfortable. They have a nice lobby and sitting/eating area with the new standard Courtyard Bistro restaurant. It is convenient place to get a bite, but nothing fancy. Parking is in a connected parking garage behind the hotel.
