Rising Sun of the Peotone

Not good. Both times I’ve gotten food there they have tasted like straight up vinegar. Absolutely disgusting. The hot and sour soup was repulsive, and the sauce for the orange chicken just tested like vinegar and salt. Maybe because I asked for them extra spicy? But only because they asked me first. I said extra spicy not extra sour and bitter. I left the food on the kitchen table, no one in my house ate it. That’s how I know it’s bad. Sorry rising sun, but my meal was far less than enjoyable. I’ll be sticking to the other Chinese restaurant in Manteno.

Wow… just wow. Kung pow just as good as Frankfort location. Please please please start making the beef veggie soup here as well. Beef fried rice… add mushrooms. My wife says the best fried rice she has ever had. Sweet and sour chucken was nicely dark fried, super crisp and huuuuge. Well worth the ten bucks. Each entrée was two or three meals. Egg rolls are good but I wish they had the cinnemon, cardemom spice flavor of the other place. The thai dishes do need work. Ask and I will help.

I am only giving this one star because I have to in order to write this review.
My husband and I just ordered lunch from there and brought it home to eat. About 3 bites into my food I found a hair. We immediately put our forks down and called. Now at this point, my husband was half way done with his lunch, mine was hardly eaten, and our crab rangoon was not touched at all.
We were told to bring it back in for a refund, which we did.
We were told that they would only refund one meal because we only found one hair. My husband was told «well, everyone has hair» and they would refund the other lunch if we found another hair in it.
SERIOUSLY? The lady really wanted us to keep eating the food.
Disgusting. I will NEVER go back there.
Let me add, too, that Rising Sun has been a favorite of mine for years. Growing up this was our go-​to Chinese restaurant (the Mokena location).

Delicious home cooked food at fair prices!

Been a fan of the Rising Sun restaurants for a while. Can’t find another place that has better sweet and sour chicken, egg rolls, or Mongolian beef… I sure have tried. The location itself needs some work but I always take the food to go.

Good place for take out. Great lunch specials.
