Great place, good pastries & donuts. Little pricy compared to other places in town, but worth it once in a while ;)

Fantastic customer service and insane vegan options! The brunch menu had at least 4 vegan dishes including a vegan strata dish. This place is great! Located in Levis Commons, Perrysburg Ohio. Just outside of Toledo. Also had several vegan baked goods. Delicious latte.

Solid cup of earl grey tea, Solid café mocha. Decent breakfast sandwiches on a bagel. I ordered an everything bagel which wasn’t the best tasting bagel I’ve had but not the worst. Nice little place to eat and have a cup of something warm to drink

LOVE this local gem of a coffee shop! The baristas are well trained, knowledgeable and friendly. Coffee is delicious and my fav treat is their signature Flying Joe Mocha! It’s like the Cheers of the coffee shop world. They know me when I walk in and I always know someone there!

A decent, locally owned shop in an area with a dearth of high quality coffee. TFJ is a little bit slower and a little bit pricier than the average coffee shop in Northwest Ohio but worth the few extra minutes and cents. In addition to flavorful roasts, they make nice espresso drinks and offer tasty seasonal beverages. For what it’s worth, my basic bitch fall tip is to try the chai apple cider. The only things holding The Flying Joe back are the space flow issues and food options. They do the best they can, but ordering and waiting for coffee is a little awkward in their current setup and the coffee stations are inefficient — they don’t set milk out but rather hand you a bottle at the drink counter when your coffee is up, and then leave you to get your sleeves or sugar away from the counter. There must be a reason for doing this, but efficiency is not it. Food here should also be passed on. They’ve expanded their sweets selection since opening but nothing is worth the money or calories. I get it, coffee is their passion and area of expertise and I respect the emphasis on the drinks. But a really good scone or muffin could go a long way too. Despite its flaws, I’m rooting for The Flying Joe and hope more people decide to stop in here instead of Starbucks or Biggby the next time they’re driving down 25. The aviation theme is cute and unique and they sell a wide array of stickers/clothing/other branded items to commemorate your visit and show your TFJ pride.

I’m a coffee buff — and The Flying Joe ranks high on my list of favorite coffee shops. Their coffee and coffee drinks are made with care and expertise. Their treats — whether artisanal doughnuts or breakfast sammiches on incredibly yummy pretzel croissants — are always fresh and unique. And, to top it off, their staff is friendly and the prices aren’t bad. I make a point to stop at The Flying Joe every time I’m in town!

When I moved to Bowling Green, OH I looked online for the best local coffee shops. The Flying Joe had one of the best websites so I tried them first. My first visit I had an excellent pourover to go. My second visit the coffee wasn’t as good, however after emailing about this I was offered cup on the house. Since then I’ve visited for fresh roasted coffee and manuel pourovers and they have been doing a good job. This summer they started offering nitro cold brew coffee. The first visit I had it wasn’t very good, and the second visit they dialed in the ratios. The staff are friendly and offer a nice customer experience.

One of my favorite coffee shops in the area! I tried their Fall Fusion latte and it was the perfect combination of espresso and flavor without going overboard. Their hot Matcha is also great! I recommend their Banana Nutella muffin if you want a delicious, sweet snack on the side. Baristas are friendly and knowledgeable.

Great coffee & great people! My favorite drink is the honey latte or the signature«Flying Joe!» Also, they support many local vendors like Holey Toledough — Handcrafted Doughnuts(you have to try the maple bacon one, it is delicious!) It’s an overall wonderful experience.

I tried this place for the first time this morning. I had the honey cinnamon latte and it was delicious. You can really taste both the honey and cinnamon in the drink. I had a breakfast sandwich with focaccia, ham, and garlic aioli. It was so good! My sister got the chai cider drink. She said it was tasty. We also got the maple bacon and Persian donut-of course both heavenly. The guy at the register was super friendly and nice!

Just stopped in on my way through town. Needed to get caffeinated for another 3 hours of driving. Coffee was amazing and my barista, Bri, not only made a great iced for me but she was a doll!

I don’t have much experience to give a detailed review but this place was recommended to me if I was ever in town. I stopped this summer and grabbed a black coffee to go. I do love local roasted coffee and only wish I had more time to enjoy more from this local place. I’ll go back, for sure.

Summary– If you are looking for a good third wave coffee shop with pour overs and quality espresso then this is for you. I was traveling across the nation and wanted to stop at a good third wave coffee shop. So I hopped on Unilocal and typed in third wave coffee in Toledo. What I got was the Flying Joe. I walked in and took a look at what they had. I saw Kalitas, Bee house, clever and a few other good brewing devices. I saw what looked like some quality bags of beans. I then checked out the espresso machine and that to passed my initial judgement. My second judgement came when I engaged the baristas in conversation. I asked about the coffee and the brew equipment, testing their knowledge. They were both well educated in the ways of coffee. I even found out that one of them was headed the the coffee camp in Missouri. I was very pleased. My third test was watching the barista brew. To see if she actually knew what she was doing. And indeed she did. She brewed me a great in the Kalita Wave. It was balanced and flavorful. I also really digged there carafes! Flying Joes get an A in my book. What stopped them from getting an A+ was the fact that all of their beans for sale were either close to or past peak freshness. They did tell me that a new shipment was supposed to come in the next day. So at least fresh beans were coming.

So it was my first time at Flying Joes, but I’m glad I made the leap to drive out and go try it. Right when we walked in it was a cool atmosphere inside, with some good music. My friend and I grabbed a table as we planned to spend the day there studying. The baristas were incredible friendly, and were very helpful with giving us some recommendations. The first drink I got was an iced coffee, and it was one of the best I’ve had. Way better than Starbucks, and I was in coffee heaven. I also got a turkey breakfast sandwich, which tasted so fresh and delicious. The next drink I got was the matcha, and my god, it’s my new favorite drink. The barista explained to me the different ways you could get it, and I got it frozen. It was so good. I’ve never had it at Starbucks but my friend used to work there and said it was so much better than the ones she used to make. Only downside is that you get what you pay for, and these high quality drinks are kind of expensive. All in all, I can’t wait to go back to my new favorite coffee place!
