I’ve been a patient of Dr. Hobuss’ for several years now. He is very knowledgeable, my visits have always been prompt and efficient, and he usually makes me laugh. A couple times my contact lens ripped, and a piece was stuck in my eye, and I couldn’t get it out. Dr. Hobuss saw me right away, and removed it without charge. I’m so glad that I found this office when I moved to Pflugerville, and would recommend them to anyone!

I split my time between Charlotte and Austin due to job and family, so I have occasion to see doctors in both locations. On a recent stint in the Austin area I realized I was out of contacts and since I was also due for an eye exam I made an appointment with Dr. Hobuss. From the moment the phone was answered to inquire about appointment availability to the time Dr. Hobuss walked into the exam room I knew I was making a sound decision. So many doctors I’ve seen in the past have had the«burn ‘em and churn ‘em» bedside manner that seems rampant in medical care these days whereas Dr. Hobuss took the time to explain eye care procedures and practices in easy to understand language. He’s professional, smart, and passionate about helping his patients. I’m not sure what the last reviewer’s problem was — maybe he didn’t like to hear the truth about his own poor hygiene habits. Kind of rude to take the truth about your own lack of concern for eye health out on the person trying to remind you of its importance, though. Dr. Hobuss is highly knowledgeable, patient, and will answer any question you have. I’d say that’s the home-run of medical care!

If I could give negative stars I would. This guy is rude as rude can get. He is extremely condescending. If you want to be lectured to by a grumpy old man with a superiority complex then go see this guy. I came in for a routine contact lens exam. He asked me if I took my lenses out every night and when I disposed of them. I was honest, I said every now and then I will forget to take them out and sometimes I’ll forget and go up to the 3rd week on my 2 week disposables. He then proceeded to give me a lecture about my poor eye care habits. I asked him about daily lenses. He said he wouldn’t prescribe them to someone who couldn’t manage my current routine. I am all about doctors providing guidance about good habits and providing warnings about the consequences. Reprimanding and derogating your patients is not the way to do it. I left their office after 10 minutes. Five minutes listening to him and I just said this is not the type of doctor I care to see, and left. Service, care, and understanding are important qualities I value in good doctors. This guy has none of those attributes.
