The wife and I enjoyed it here. They had a live band and a polite staff. As I recall, our two wells G&T and one Lone Star came out to $ 8.25 total, so not a bad deal at all. They have a spacious backyard(hence the bar name), which seems great for a weekend night or «Sunday Funday». Would like to return again. Came back here a couple nights later and noticed that Gin and tonics were $ 3.75’ish. Not a bad deal, but not as good as that Saturday night, AFAIR.

I made it out to Wagner’s Backyard while Austin’s own Robynn Shayne was performing for a battle of the bands benefit. It is easy to get to right off of the I-35 access road but keep your eyes peeled as it is easy to miss. The bar has a small indoor stage and games(woot Mrs PacMan). The outdoor however is the big draw. The backyard is huge and has a beautiful rustic wood stage. Kids and pups(leashed, not the kids just the pups) are welcome too. They aim to be a fun and relaxing music venue and the do that well. This is indeed a beer and liquor bar and most customer drinking cans of Lonestar and bottle of Dos X.

Very casual hangout. Service is great and the back yard atmosphere is fun. People are social able. Had the turkey and sausage from the food truck.

We wanted to grab a drink before seeing a movie and literally stumbled upon this place in the theater parking lot. Glad we found it! It is literally like a huge backyard party. There was a volleyball court, several corn hole boards, jenga pretty much on every table and even a mini-golf hole. There are a couple of outdoor bars and the bartenders are super personable and helpful. The drinks were good and pretty decently priced. We did not eat any food, but we will check that out next time we go. I heard they have trivia night that we will have to experience!

Last night was the first time going to Wagners. Suede, a cover band was playing. Nice venue, barbecue was good, but best of all was the bartenders. They were very good at working a very busy bar and were courteous too. I’ll definitely go back

I absolutely love the environment here. It’s relaxing, but still has the potential to get a little wild, especially on Saturdays when the old school hip hop and R&B comes on the juke box! You will find the bartenders dancing and goofily interacting with customers(in the best way) and it’s such a friendly, fun place to be! Not to mention the variety of games and entertainment, and the fantastic BBQ in the backyard! Definitely go check it out! This place is SO much more than your average bar! I love it!

This place looks awesome. Me and my two friends drove by and saw their backyard and were quite excited at the prospect of a «rainy street esque» backyard bar. Later when we got home we figured out it was a newer bar in the area and decided to go that evening after finding it online. The parking lot was quite crowded when we arrived around 11 and once we were in the bar we were immediately disappointed. It’s such a suburban, family hangout. The interesting thing was we were carded but the bar and backyard itself was full of families, some with their children which we couldn’t figure out? There was live music on stage but the 30 minutes we were there they were having trouble or something and loud, disruptive noises kept screeching out randomly, which I’m sure isn’t the norm. The wait for a drink isn’t too bad for as crowded as the bar is and the bartenders are pretty friendly too considering the crowds. After one drink we decided we didn’t fit and called it a night, we’re all in our later twenties– not looking for anything crazy– but felt a little odd surrounded by people that looked closer to my parents age or my nephews age.

First time going last night and let’s just say, my boyfriend and I will be going more often. I love how it’s so diverse and anybody can go in however they are dresses. Good atmosphere! Robin, our server, was way too awesome! I was there with a group of guys, the only girl, and she didn’t single me out. She actually paid more attention to me and made more conversation with me rather than the fellas! You rock Robin!

To recycle an old joke, Wagner’s Backyard seems to have two kinds of music: Country, and Western. And sure, I’m probably as valid a reviewer of a bar like this as a vegetarian reviewing the brisket from a BBQ trailer. But I’ll put in my two cents worth. A friend’s wife was in the finals of a band contest, and I went to be supportive of the cause(Yay, Robynn Shayne!). I didn’t believe my GPS, which showed it just in front of the North Austin(well, Pflugerville) Tinseltown. But sure enough, there it was. To find it, drive gingerly past the driveway at the Texas Roadhouse. But, the official lot is small, so you’ll end up driving THROUGH their whole parking lot and end up parking in the largish Tinseltown/shopping center parking, and face a whole 2 minute walk to the venue door. Northies will understand when I say it’s like if a ¼ scale model of the former Weirdo’s location(at Parmer and Mopac) was crossed with John-Travolta-in-Urban-Cowboy’s DNA. For its size, it’s trying to be, well, maybe too many things. You’ve got a small indoor space, with a sport-bar feel(many TVs, pool table, etc.), that leads to a patio. Down from the patio is the stage/dancing area, sand volleyball pit, the ubiquitous«cornhole» and giant Jenga, multiple bar options(one for beer, one for the harder stuff), two food trucks(though on a Thursday when I went, only the BBQ truck was open), and a handful, but not close enough to our table, of patio heaters. I see the reviews mentioning terrible bar service«unless you are seated at the bar», but we didn’t have an issue. The lovely tatted waitress checked in on us plenty, always with a smile. Even without HH pricing, I felt like our round of my well-poured«Makers and Coke», plus my friends’ three beers, cost what my one drink would have cost in many places in town(no cover on this Thursday night). Personally, I feel the warehouse-y places, like Grahams, etc., could change any Lover Boy To Lucifer, so this more neighborhood-y place suits me better. It’s just a simple place with men trying to be someone’s Prince Charming, if only for the evening. I wasn’t there to play The Game like that, but I was able to be a little Rowdy With Jack, and my other friend Jack, without having to shout all night to be heard. The people watching was enjoyable(though, at times, a little to «Confederate-y» for my usual comfort level). The Key To My Heart is reasonably priced drinks, and music not so loud to make my ears ring the next morning. So, What Would Dolly Do? She’d probably grab a beer and hang out at Wagner’s Backyard.

Randy and mark are the best bartenders. I would love to see some thick country girls up there. Love that it is dog friendly. Lots of out doors stuff. Free tacos on Tuesday.

New venue owned by some really cool Austin folks who know the bar business. Unfortunately, they missed the mark on service! Unless you’re belly up at a bar stool, the bar staff don’t even acknowledge you. Hard to believe considering there were only four people at the bar. I’ve been a few times allowing for the benefit of the doubt, but it’s consistently poor, if not disrespectful. Thanks Stacy for proving there’s no such thing as service — just sarcasm — you’ve set an all time new low. I feel bad for David & Jonathan because they’re taking the hit!

Really enjoyed it. It was chill, the bartender was very cool and super friendly. Plus it was a very rainy day so it wasn’t as good as it could be and it was fun. A must try.

I loved the eccentric vibe of this bar, kind of biker-bar-meets-Austin-chic, if you feel me? Anyway, we were looking for options for post-dinner drinks on a Friday night and were pleasantly surprised with this locale. It wasn’t too loud, so we could still hear ourselves talk, the bar service was good and drinks were made correctly. Love the Deep Eddy flavored vodkas! I agree that the parking situation is not so ideal. Other than that, a great night! Will definitely add it into the nightlife rotation.

Meh. We’ll go up the road to Uncle Gary’s Bar, instead. Wagner’s jerked us around with regard to providing tap water and soda refills, while we hung out and played in 90 degree Texas heat. My son and I came here today(Sunday) to hang out with family, order some drinks and play volleyball. With everyone, including our kids, we made up a party of nearly twenty. We all arrived around two o’clock and were able to quickly join other patrons in a friendly game of volleyball. Most of the adults in our party ordered beer and for the kids, we ordered fountain drinks. About an hour into our stay, my 10 year-old approached me, sweating and carrying his empty 10 oz. Dixie cup, stating that a female at the bar told him that they don’t do refills. I asked him if it was for water or a soda refill and he stated that he’d simply asked for tap water. I didn’t see any water fountains inside, so his only free option for water was the outside hose, used to cool down the sand volleyball court, or the bathroom sink. I took his empty cup and went inside, finding and introducing myself to the manager. For clarification, I asked him if they provided refills on either tap water or fountain drinks and he said that they generally did not. He went on to say that they’ve had issues in the past, with underage kids coming in, ordering free tap water, hogging the volleyball courts and tables for hours, and taking up his waitstaff’s valuable time. I pointed out that my 10 year-old didn’t drive himself here, so he was obviously here with a paying adult. Then, he said that refills would be fine as long as the kids in our party were accompanied by an adult each time they wanted a refill. To confirm, I asked, so you mean to tell me that each time my child needs water or soda, I need to stop whatever conversation or game I’m in the middle of, and walk him inside and up to a server? Then, he conceded and said that he’d allow the refills without an adult present, for our particular party. I asked how the bartenders were supposed to know our party’s kids from every other patron’s… I don’t recall getting a straight answer to that particular question… He kept defending their policy, going on a tangent about how they’re a bar, first-and-foremost, and that they’re here to make money. I had a hard time keeping a straight face, as I mentioned that I’d never been to a bar, where I was either refused tap water, or had to pay for refills on fountain drinks. I suggested that if they were *that* worried about the bar’s bottom line, that perhaps they could rent out the volleyball court or have a minimum tab per table, before providing tap water for free, to which he said the rental thing would never work, but he’d bring up the other suggestion in the weekly employee meeting. To me, charging a per-game or hourly fee for volleyball, like other establishments do for pool, bowling, darts, etc, makes a lot more sense than denying tap water to thirsty patrons and their children. By the time we finished our conversation, the rest of my party had already decided to pack up and continue playing volleyball at another bar(Uncle Gary’s), up the road. I thanked the manager for his time, and closed out my tab, tipping my bartender(male; don’t remember his name), who’d been nothing short of polite, friendly and attentive. When we arrived at Gary’s, the place was clean, the volleyball court was available and the bartender laughed, when we asked if they charged for tap water or soda refills. It’s such a shame that Wagner’s has such a ludicrous policy with regard to providing tap water. It would otherwise be a really be a fun place, with their volleyball court, washers, giant Jenga and foosball table…

It finally opened. Parking is shared with used car lot, model home park, & theater.(Very Limited) Small area under shade. The area outside is gravel, difficult to walk between all the yard game set ups. One hot dog trailer, so limited menu. Rumor is no cuts, no colors. Saw 1 customer with new vest, not a patch on it.

I saw that this place opened up recently so I decided to try it out after work today. First impressions when parking is that it’s difficult to figure out where exactly to park and how to actually get into this place. Maybe some more signage would help? After parking I was greeted at the door with a firm handshake by a gentleman I assume was associated with the bar in someway. There isn’t too much seating inside, but there is some at the bar and a few tables. The real attraction is the gigantic patio, however. There is plenty of shade, tables galore, washers, cornhole, mini golf, music stage, and a sand volleyball court. I can see this place being a hit for live music in the far North Austin region. My wife, a co-worker, and I enjoyed some beverages and relaxed after work for a while. We got a little hungry so we grabbed a bite to eat from the Mighty Dog trailer that is permanently on-site. A couple of observations that I made: –They have Geeks Who Drink Trivia on Wednesdays(it was kicking off at around 7:30ish when we left) –Taco Tuesdays, all you can eat free tacos on Tuesdays(I can’t wait to try this out) –Hookah? Apparently they have a 3rd party vendor who operates a hookah lounge on-site for partaking on the patio. We left before the dude got there, but I did see around 20 hookahs in a little room on my way to the restroom, which prompted me to ask about it. That’s about it. Prices were decent, relaxed atmosphere, what appears to be reasonably priced drinks, with onsite food, all within a stones throw from my house? Yep, I’ll be back.
