I’m so happy with the new ownership and management of CJs. They seem genuinely concerned with making the customers happy and serving excellent food in the process. The menu has changed a bit and is definitely more pocketbook friendly.

My son and I were in town for the Iron Bowl, ROLLTIDE! We were looking for a steak and some drinks after the game. We weren’t interested in going to a chain so I used trusty ol Unilocal again. I have to say that the service was excellent, Thanks Amanda! The steak and chop were great! Although you can tell it’s a local hangout the atmosphere was great. It’s a little small but suffice. Enjoyed listening to Dixie Duncan as well, the guy is talented. I would recommend CJ’s to anyone and will be going back when I’m back in town. Keep up the good work!

Decided to have dinner at C. J’s tonight, we were seated right away. We had been here multiple times and already knew that we wanted to order from the bar menu, like we have in the past. After we ordered, we were approached by the manager, Brandi, who informed us that the only way we could order the bar menu was if we moved to the crowded bar. Having no other option, we moved to the bar. The worst part of it all, was the lack of professionalism from the manager, constantly belittling(enough to where customers could notice the effect it had on the waitresses) and correcting her wait staff in front of customers, which caused for an awkward situation for everyone. The only saving grace and the reason for the 3 stars, is our bartender, Brittany, who was the only one who seemed to care of what we needed and made sure we were happy the whole time. Brittany did a great job. The food was delicious as always. Managing practices need to be revisited and revised.

If you ever want the perfect steak, you really need to try CJ’s. The steaks are cooked to perfection. I have had every steak on their menu. The steaks are thick and juicy. They are exceptionally tender. The sides are excellent. I particularly like the truffle fries or the whipped potatos. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The owner, Josh, checks on you to make sure your meal meets your exectations.

This was the second time my wife and I ate here. The first time a few months ago wasn’t worth Unilocaling about. Tonight I had the chicken egg roll appetizer, not a fan of goat cheese but they were very good. Couldn’t hardly taste the goat cheese at all. My wife and I both had the Ribeye’s I had the cowboy, she had the smaller one. Both were cooked very well. Solid grilled flavor with the black crispy grill marks. Real tender and juicy good steak with no thrills. Whipped potatoes you could tell were made from real potatoes.(unlike some other places across the river). Also had the bread pudding for desert, it was a different take on bread pudding, but very good. All together, I had to TAPOUT! It’s nice to have a decent place to eat on this side of the river. We will be back.

Although I wasn’t very exited about my first visit to CJ’s, I’ve been back twice. I have to say it’s definitely the best choice in the area for a steak. The second time I ordered the Cowboy Ribeye and it’s way better than the one I got before which was the Petite Ribeye. The petite was way too thin. If you’re in the area visiting I would certainly recommend CJ’s over anything else around.

The 18oz Cowboy steak was flawlessly cooked and perfect in all aspects. I paid a dollar extra for fresh asparagus and got 4 sprigs; which equated to three bites for me. My other side was the signature cheese grits which were under-seasoned and tasteless minus a mild cheddar flavor. I paid extra for a side Caesar salad and it was large, fresh, and quite tasty. Overall the meal was good, not great. Steak alone — come here. Everything else is mediocre.

Went here for lunch and drinks one Saturday afternoon with my mother. We both had beers — the draft selection was acceptable. The server was friendly enough. The décor was alright. My problem lies in the food. My mother had shrimp no grits that were almost too salty to eat. I mean this stuff was like licking a salt block. I had a cheeseburger and fries, a $ 15 cheeseburger and fries I might add. The burger was fine, but the fries were straight out of a bag, frozen fries. They were the same fries you get at a hospital cafeteria! I felt like I was back in high school eating these things. Soooo tacky. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Any restaurant willing to put cafeteria fries on a plate is not worthy of receiving my business. Stay away, you’ve been warned.

We went to CJ’s last Wednesday night. We all 3 ordered the special of 14 oz NY Strip, baked potato, and salad. Our server was nice enough but a little slow with service. The soda was off so we had to switch to tea… no big deal. The salad was good but on the small side… very good ranch dressing that appeared homemade. When our steaks were served, we were all excited because they looked great. First couple of cuts were cooked right but then we got to the middle and it all went downhill. My son ordered well done… crazy I know. but his steak was medium at best. My husband and I both ordered medium and ours were rare. I mean cold and bloody. The texture also makes me think they were cooked from frozen. Our waitress apologized but that was it. No offer to remake or refire and no discount given. None of us ate more than a couple of bites of steak. We actually stopped at Taco Bell on the way home because we were still hungry! The bill was $ 55 which would have been a great value if the food was good. Needless to say, we will not return to CJ’s in the future.

Good atmosphere, but the bartender didn’t know what an old fashioned was — she started putting gin it and then asked me. Oh well I guess. The place isn’t bad but it needs to lower its prices, get more stuff on the menu, and figure out how to draw more customers. One bartender was very nice though and professional — I think Tamara was her name. Edit: had a steak here. Saltiest steak I’ve ever had. Avoid!

Went last night and got the 12oz sirloin with baked potatoe. Steak was cooked right but had no taste and the potatoe was still a bit hard. Waitress was great but the prices are way to high for the quality of food. I recommend Texas Roadhouse or Logans. I will say the drinks are strong and not watered down.

Went to CJ’s for the first time last night, was not impressed. I wouldn’t call it a steakhouse, it’s a sports bar. Our server was super sweet and attentive but the other employees were loud. There was yelling across the room, dishes slamming etc. It really was extremely loud. Although I like to dress up once in a while, I did enjoy the super casual vibe. Now for the food: I had the scallops which were good, however there were only three of them on a bed of very bland mashed potatoes with a yummy side of grilled squash. My mom had the pork chop which she ordered well done with a baked potato and grilled squash. For her everything tasted great but, the pork chop was cooked rare. I might return to this place if I just wanted to sit at the bar and have a drink.

Wayyyyyyyyyyyy too expensive for the quality. $ 36 for a Phenix city steak? No. Never. It’s not that any part of this place was bad – it just wasn’t all too impressive and therefore the prices were ridiculous. Service was also not an invigorating experience. To put it into perspective, you could pay $ 5 more and have a year-topping meal in any high end restaurant in Atlanta. Probably won’t visit again unless the menu gets better and prices lower.

We came here for the first time tonight. The ambiance would have been very nice if the lights were turned down. I know this because they dimmed them halfway through our meal. To start, the server did not introduce the specials and only told us about one of them when we specifically asked. We ordered a Crown and Coke($ 7) and a tall Yuengling($ 4.50). For an appetizer we had the fried calamari. It was ok but was fried more in the genre of a fritter than what I typically think of as calamari. It was also served with a fritter-esq mayo-based sauce. Each entrée came with a salad and they were good. For entrees we ordered the mahi mahi and the scallops. Both were way overcooked. The flavor of the scallops would have been very good if they were not overcooked. The veggies were just ok, but the mashed potatoes were very good. Overall, we will probably not be back.
