I’ve been a Bokeh Fire member for about 3 months and it has been really, really great. I stumbled on Bokeh Fire when I was looking around at lens rental sites. I was at the point where I had a basic Nikon dSLR and a kit lens, and was interested in trying out some better lenses before I dropped a lot of cash to buy one or more new lenses. I started with the Nikon Basic plan, and tried out several of those lenses and they were great. Then I had the chance to try out the Nikon 35 mm f/1.4 (a Pro prime lens) and I was hooked. What an amazing, fast lens! I upgraded to the Pro plan and I absolutely love it. I now have access to all 8 Pro and all 8 Basic lenses to trade in and out whenever.
The process is really easy– join, then select the first lens you want. You can keep it for as long or as short a time as you want– a day, a week, a month, or more. Then when you are ready to trade for a different lens, you just email Pano (the owner) and tell him which one you want next. Within a day or 2 the lens is usually ready for pick up at their Philly location (Photo Lounge on 19^th st). If you have a specific event coming up, you can reserve a lens in advance to be sure you have what you need. Pano also is great about giving recommendations if you are a beginner like me.
I know they will also ship the lenses to you (I think anywhere in the US– think Netflix for lenses) but I haven’t tried that since I live close by.
All in all, my Bokeh Fire membership has been really worthwhile and has given me the chance to learn a ton about photography by experimenting with different lenses that would otherwise be way beyond what I can afford to buy!

Most excellent place to rent fantastic top end lenses at a great price with no worries about late fees that the other lens rental company’s charge. Free shipping both ways or drop it (and pick up) at a local (Philadelphia) photo store. Since I work in the city all I have to do is email the owner Pano K what time I want to come in and and pick up or drop off it’s there waiting for you. Great selection of Canon and Nikon lenses to choose from including all the great prime lenses I can’t afford to purchase at this time. Believe me you can’t go wrong with this lens rental company.

Pano is very customer oriented. When in a bind for a wedding, he shipped out a lens to me super fast. He didnt have one in stock, but made sure I was covered.
This has been my first lens rental company experience, and for the cost, customer service, and quality of lens that they provide, the will be around for a while. I would HIGHLY recommend them over any of the other companies. Some of the best customer service I have ever witnessed, and they work for you the client!

I am an emerging photographer in the process of building out my gear. I have limited capital so the money I do spend I want to be worthwhile. I was overwhelmed by my choices and the reviews and vast cost differences only made things worse…85mm f/1.2L (beautiful, but slow to focus) vs. 85 mm f/1.8 (cheap so how can it be good)? Hours of research later I was still stuck.
