This guy is a little crook. Stands out there and lords over his crabs like they are putting golden nuggets in your bag. Got home and at least 3 – 4 were dead. Called back and the little dude told me to sue him. I should shake a soda and open it up under your a$$ you little crook.

I needed a ton of crabs for a backyard crab feast at my house. Figured I’d patrol the Italian Market for this endeavor. Well, on this particular corner, there is a white refrigerated trailer and truck with crab logos as well as CRABS displayed on a huge awning. Quite easy to find. At the time(August ’11), $ 35 for a half bushel of #2 jimmies. Away goes my $ 35 and one of workers hoists the bushel and asks where my car was. So the guy carried the wooden basket for two blocks and we later feasted. They were all about 5.5″, right on for a #2 grade. Easy.

New to Philly, stopped by on a run enticed by the«Live Crabs» sign. Found live lobster as well, and while mulling over whether I’d have to come back later in the day to keep it fresher for dinner, the elderly gentleman at the counter told me to bring it home wrapped in an ice-filled bag and to keep it in the coldest part of the fridge until dinner. Not only was it fresh, but as it warmed up, it sprung back to life, scaring our kitty and delighting my lobster-aficionado girlfriend with it’s taste. Going back as often as my food budget allows!

«Eek! Methinks not»? More like«Uh, FUCKNO!» My(Chinese) mom and her(Mexican) friend were checking out the produce displayed on the sidewalk and picking out oranges. I understand that some places do not let you choose, but if that’s the case you should probably let the(would-be) customers know politely. You know, instead of being rude and saying shit about how Chinese people always handpick produce and make a mess everywhere — never mind that her Mexican friend was the one handling the oranges. Maybe you’re okay with letting people put fruits and vegetables at random in your bag and charging you money for them, but I’m not cool with helping you get rid of bad produce. «Don’t come back,» they said. I guess if you’re too good for people who like to make sure they get good produce you don’t need our money.
