There are 2 health centers located in Washington Ave. First is the 800 washington ave(Southeast Health center), the other one is at 930 washington ave(chinatown med service). My experience in Southeast HS was great. Came in for a walk in but they didnt have it so decided to make an appt for the next day. Next day i came 30 mins earlier, signed in and got seated. If you dont have insurance you have to pay 75 bucks to be seen by a doctor, Time was prompt, the doctor was professional, the workers were very helpful. To get your blood test you have to pay $ 10(no insurance). They also provide pharmaceutical, which is optional, but the prices are cheaper than other places.

This place is a disaster. I waited 3 hours for a scheduled appointment. I only needed a referral to a specialist(I have seizure disorder and have been seeing a neurologist for many years). I was very upset because I was missing work, and had been there for 3.5 hours. Kim McGinnish, the CRNP, suggested my medication was causing me problems(nope, i was mad at your rude and incompetent staff. When I asked about my wait time to inform my boss, they all said hold on ANDWENTTOLUNCH). She then referred me to the ER. She referred me to the ER for an asymptomatic chronic condition. Luckily I know how the medical system works in this country. If this is who my tax dollars are funding — for shame. These people need to get out of the caring profession.

accept walk ins. They call you in, but i always experience long waits. At least an hour or so even with appointments. Feel rushed when seen.

i’ve only been to the SE Health Center once for a visit – which was absolutely fine – but i’ve had a hellish time trying to get a referral from them for physical therapy after an ankle injury. when i called and left messages which were never answered, i was annoyed, but not completely surprised. when the physical therapist called and then my insurance company called and got the exact same response, than i knew there was a serious problem.

Southeast Health Center impressed me for a couple of reasons. One, if you don’t have health insurance, you pay whatever you can afford. Pretty sweet. Second, the staff was very friendly despite the extremely crowded waiting area and impatient customers. You can also walk in and make an appointment, which I wouldn’t suggest since it seems pretty crowded.
