I can only speak to the milkshakes, but I have had the cookies and cream as well as the cookie dough and both are excellent. My boyfriend had the Turkish tea and berry cheesecake and was thoroughly satisfied.

I love this little place. I used to go there when they were on the other side of the street and was sad when I didn’t know that they moved across the street from the original location until I passed it over the weekend. The variety of sweets if vast. The owners are really nice. The coffee is always piping hot and strong, just how I like it. I really like the location of this place and its never loud or crazy in there. Its also a very clean establishment. They offer small plates and savory dishes too.

Food is delicious and location is great but what really puts this place high on my list is the hospitality of the staff. They’re always smiling and accommodating. The food is homemade on the premises and always fresh. Love it.

Cute little place. I had iced coffee with chocolate ice cream. Coffee was a little bitter.

The food is excellent and the prices are great. The woman who manages the front is very sweet and attentive. Definitely my go-to lunch spot in Society Hill.

The Evil Eye Café is the best kept secret on South Street! The more you visit the more you appreciate how welcome they make you feel. It’s a great place to get a coffee or bubble tea and enjoy some quiet time. The food is all homemade, authentic, and most importantly DELICIOUS. My personal favorite is between the chicken and tuna salad, both are out of this world! I think the best part of the café is with out a doubt the owner, Sadaat. You won’t meet a sweeter business owner, she is someone who always has enough time for her customers and friends. Definitely the heart and sole of The Evil Eye! The best spot on South Street for a quick eat, or a perfect place to have a coffee with friends.

Stopped in today just to grab a bubble tea but after chatting with Saadet, the sweet owner, and tasting some items that were in the front case, we knew we’d be going back again… soon!

Eating here is like going to visit your Aunt that cooks really good. It’s so homey and yummy. Get the Turkish meatballs with peppers, tomatoes, and peas. Perfect little spot on South Street for a quick bite to eat.

Came in and ordered a tuna salad wrap. 30 minutes later I’m still waiting. saw someone come in and also get served after me. Also ordered a smoothie. Smoothie is cold but has no ice in it. Tastes like strawberry milk; which it is. Not sure of why this place has gotten a good review. Service is slow. @Ipek some people have other things they want to do with the day. Waiting for close to 40 min for a tuna wrap is not one of them. There was no line and empty tables and everything I ordered was cold(low prep time). If the man did order before me then his wait must have been even longer if he had been waiting before me. Maybe he had the right idea and left to do what he wanted to do and came back. In either case the wait was long. Service was very friendly, and I’m sure for some people that is all they desire. But anyone thinking they could get a quick bite to eat will be very disappointed.

I love this place. We usually eat brunch/lunch about 2 – 3 times a week from here. Our standard lunch is a chicken salad sandwich and some red lentil soup(with a squeeze of lemon). You can’t go wrong if you order this. The chicken salad has tiny chopped pieces of chicken, celery, and herbs… and its one of the best I’ve ever had. Red lentil soup is delicious, but also unique. Can’t say I’ve had a soup like it before, but really like it. The Turkish coffee is a perfect mid-afternoon pick-me-up to help you get through the day. It’s a tiny cup of coffee that packs a big punch and tastes WAY better than expresso. Turkish tea is also delicious and a bit more appropriate if you’re sensitive to caffeine. Also…the woman running the counter is the sweetest lady of all time. It is EXACTLY like being in your ‘third aunt, twice removed’s house.’ She is an absolute doll.

Wow! This was the best bubble tea I’ve had in Philadelphia. I’m very surprised to read Tiffany T.‘s review about it not having fully cooked bubbles. My bubbles were perfectly cooked, and better still they had a subtle caramelized sugar aftertaste. The woman behind the counter was just as sweet as the other reviews have said. The atmosphere is clean and lovely with high ceilings and orange/red walls. This place is cash only, but there’s an ATM directly across the street.

I have mixed feelings about Evil Eye Café. It seemed like the perfect spot to stop for a quick bite while roaming around South Street the other day, so my friend and I decided to pop in for a quick drink/snack. The lady behind the counter was very friendly, and the food was homemade and authentic, for sure! However, I was a little uncertain about the freshness of everything that was covered in plastic wrap(and looked like it may have been sitting in the refrigerated cases for a few days). Some of the desserts like the tiramisu looked a little floppy; the berries had left stain marks on the cheesecake, etc. I went for the baklava, which was really delicious and seemed like it wouldn’t have been potentially spoiled like the dairy desserts. The place is really cute, but it was also slow and empty for a happening Sunday on South Street. I hope that the nice owner here can continue to keep her business profitable while serving fresh and delicious meals and desserts.

I always get the most pleasant service when I come here. I get the most sesame covered bagels(if you like lots of sesame) that they make fresh every day. I adore coming here because everything is lovingly made and I always feel like a welcome guest in a friends home.

This place is like eating at your best friends house when you were in middle school. The woman who runs this place is incredibly nice and makes all of the food herself. She runs the place herself and serves everything on what looks like my moms dinner plates. We ordered chicken salad sandwiches, they were extremely fresh and very good. I had a strawberry smoothie which was okay, and he had turkish tea which he liked and we finished off with baklava and chocolate chip cheese cake. The baklava is my only complaint, traditional baklava is made with pistachios, not walnuts, however I do understand that its ridiculously expensive to make it with pistachios, so it makes sense. All in all this place was a good stop for lunch, and I would come back.

This is purely for the bubble tea review. Although they are not«known» for their bubble tea, I’m a firm believer that if you put it on your menu, LETITBEGOOD. Otherwise, don’t put it on your menu. $ 4.50 for a bubble tea. I go the Thai Iced Tea bubble tea. She gave me the Thai Iced Coffee. I had already left, so whatever it’s okay, I like coffee. Coffee I can tell is mixed with instant creamer, sugar and it may or may not be real coffee. It wasn’t BAD, but let’s say it was a 2 out of 5 stars for coffee. The bubbles /tapioca was terrible. Not cooked thru in the middle(still white) and they were hard. 1⁄10 for the tapioca. Will not return ever for bubble tea

I stumbled upon this café after getting my haircutnearby and my friend and I finally tried it today. This café has wonderful Mediterranean/Turkish salads, dishes and you can sample some before you order. So we both had Russian Salad, and she also had white bean salad. I tried the Israeli Couscous Salad and Bulgher Salad. Yummy! All homemade, she uses dried beans. She also has homemade bakery items which look really good as well as Ice Cream. In colder months, I want to try the homemade lentil soup. The Owner is very sweet. We will be backwhen we have more adventures on South Street.

Going to this place is like visiting long-lost family members! I’ve been to Evil Eye Café about four times now, and they’ve remembered me each time. The family who owns the place are wonderful, friendly, and generous people. I first visited with some friends when they had just opened, and as they were still setting prices, they charged us next to nothing for our food. Every successive time I’ve visited, they’ve insisted on giving me samples of everything before I pick something to order. Everything is fresh and homemade that day, and there’s always something new and interesting to try! They have lunch-type food, including Turkish food, and also desserts(mostly baked goods, but also ice cream). They do really good coffee and even bubble tea! My absolute favorite thing they sell, however, is the berry cheesecake. I’m not even a cheesecake person, but this is one of the most delicious things I’ve ever put in my mouth. You do not understand cheesecake if you have not tried this thing. I bring all my friends here and make them try it, because I care about them and I want them to lead a happy and fulfilled life. If you care about your friends, you will bring them here too. If you don’t, you probably don’t care about your friends. And that’s kind of sad. I also love the café’s décor. It’s cool, sort of wacky, and very in keeping with the South Street aesthetic!

I live on South Street and always like to check out/support neighborhood businesses. The owners of this coffee/sandwich shop are two of the sweetest people I’ve ever met, and, after trying a few of their generous samples of homemade baked good, I’m completely hooked on their oatmeal raisin and chocolate chips cookies! Delicious, fresh-baked, and more than reasonable for what you get, they’ve now become my weekly guilty pleasure(sacrilege that it is, the oatmeal raisin ones rival my mom’s secret family recipe)! There’s also a large well air conditioned seating area in the front with floor to ceiling windows, so it’s the perfect place to escape the heat and enjoy a li’l South Street people watching.

We were walking by on the sidewalk and the woman gave us samples of stuffed baked potato. It was very good, so we decided the three of us should split one(we had eaten earlier). We went in, and the man made us three potatoes and charged us about $ 3 each; then the woman gave us a cookie to try and it was super delicious; then she gave us two more. We wanted to try one of her cakes, so she gave us a giant slice and asked $ 2 for that. One us us later asked for water and they just gave us tiramisu(and water). Everything we ate was delicious. The place is run by this very friendly [Greek?] couple and their daughter. They make everything. They seem to still be figuring out prices, or they don’t believe in fixed prices. He said for the potatoes they usually ask $ 5 or $ 6, but he’d charge $ 3 for us. The place is attractively decorated and has a nice atmosphere. They have a table on the sidewalk too. Besides potatoes, they have prepared salads, about 8 flavors of ice cream, coffee and tea, many beautiful deserts, and an eclectic cooler of drinks. Highly recommended: very friendly people, delicious food, great atmosphere, good prices.
