I like this place. I can usually find what I need. Not a dollar store. Less crowded. Usually easy to find parking right in front. Convenient. located between banks, convenient store, near gas station. It is a medium size place somewhere between a dollar store and the other thing. Lol. I applaud the new owners found this little niche for this old Blockbuster Video store and called themselves a dollar store. Pretty clever business concept.

Let’s put ourselves in the right mindset first: Think DOLLARSTORES — DOLLARSTORES — So, they have the normal stuff and then the fun, crazy stuff you’ve come to expect from and enjoy from a dollar store. i.e. — Airwick candles, Meow Mix and Friskies cat food, drinks in a cooler, greeting cards, kitchen items and disposable buffet trays/party items — noserings, lottery tickets, a slushie machine in the hot weather, gardening equipment, underwear and bras. I mean, poke around and you’ll be floored by what you find. I love this place — I buy sponges, hair accessories, hardware and tools, band aids, and gum — you know, everything you’d need for a party. … Or a botched home project that ended up messy, bloody, and medusa-headed. Let’s stick with the party story.

First of all — it’s a dollar store — so, don’t expect high quality items. However, with that thought in mind, this is a great little S. Philly place to grab something you’ve forgotten or to get a quick replacement light bulb, aluminum pans for cooking, Sterno, and any number of other things. The general hardware section tends to have the basic items you need for a quick repair job. .. Plus, plastic cups, plates, etc., straws, candles, cheap kitchen utensils, chips, sodas, wrapping paper — it’s a pretty basic, but well stocked dollar store. And, hey — if you’re into it — apparently you can buy underwear, books, movies. .. and, if you’re not stuck on the $ price tag, they also have cell phones, rolling carts for trips to the supermarket, baskets, pots, pans, mylar balloons, and amazingly gaudy, ugly electric lamps on which the really cheesy scenes appear to be moving. But, it’s got a great variety, it’s perfect for emergencies, the people are relatively friendly. And, sometimes you can even find great buys — such as the boxes of cocktail straws/stirrers that I found one day — that cost $ 7 — $ 8 each at other places — for $ 1. I bought all 8 boxes. That’s 8 boxes of 1000 each cocktail straws/stirrers — 8000 cocktail stirrers. It’ll take me a couple of months to use that many cocktail straws. But well worth it. :-) Glad they’re in the neighborhood. In response to the idiot button guy’s review, I agree. I certainly wish I had one to press right now. The store is packed, but it IS clean. And, I’ve found the people who work there to be very nice … As for customer service, seriously how many questions could you have, or did you forget — it’s a dollar store– save your questions for when your shopping somewhere that requires an income.
