Pick Jones when you want the ultimate boozy brunch in Philly. Every single time I have done brunch at Jones, I have ended up pretty satisfied. OH did I mention, it is bottomless champagne for a fixed price of $ 21. They give you a choice of three different juices(usually peach, orange, pomegranate, etc… one time I had lavender!). If you have a large group and make a reservation ahead of time, they will let you sit and drink until 3pm or 4pm when the bottomless deal ends. The monkey bread is SOYUMMY! Def get that as a starter. I’ve only been to Jones for dinner once, and to be honest, it wasn’t really worth it. Don’t get me wrong, the food is still really good, but it wasn’t worth my money and time.

After reading all of the mixed reviews, I decided to book my birthday dinner at Jones anyway, since I love Stephen Starr restaurants to begin with. The food was delicious. From appetizers to dessert, they know what they’re doing. I loved the menu and had a hard time deciding what I wanted because everything looked so good! The ambiance was great. Loved the shag carpeting and lighting. Let me tell you, the service was great. Our waitress, Brett, was so attentive to our needs and constantly refilled our water throughout the entire meal. She really made my birthday dinner stand out. Loved the ice cream and birthday cookies! From start to finish, this place is very high on my list of favorite places. I would recommend Jones to anyone who is in Philly and wanting a great place to eat.

I would only suggest going here for bottomless deals. The breakfast burrito was not good at all, I thought maybe mine wasnt cooked properly, but my friends burrito was also in the same condition. It looked as if they took a normal tortilla and just added eggs in there and gave it to us, it was barley cooked. I didnt enjoy the food here at all but i LOVED and had a great time drinking the bottomless! Great drinking deal espeically in philly, but I have had much better food elsewhere.

I ordered the cheesesteak omelette with tater tots and it was great. Service was fast and always there. Recommend if you’re in the mood for a good brunch/lunch meal

Cool décor, indifferent waitress, food totally bland. Hostesses were polite and friendly. Décor is definitely cool. You WANT to be there. Waitress was somewhat intolerant to the point of eye rolling at us. Apps were best part of meal. Nachos, deviled eggs, and pierogi. All three were tasty but small portions. They are really not to share. Entrees were, simply put, bland and flavorless. 2 fried chicken, thanksgiving platter, meatloaf, and a salmon. All of us felt the same way. Desserts were the same. Carrot cake is my favorite and the small piece just tasted like matter. $ 300 for small portions, a waitress who could barely tolerate us, and(except for the apps) bland food. Sorry, no way and not giving it a second chance.

Not that great. Jones still has that STARR charm but their menu is being stacked up against mom, aunts, grandma’s, and great-great aunts of old and it fell short. I was a bit surprised, actually. I’ve been to Jones once before and I know it didn’t blow my mind but this time around, I really was shocked at its mediocrity. My friend and I shared Mac and Cheese and Chicken and Waffles. The Mac actually was more akin to box macaroni. Waffles, well you can’t really mess that up and the chicken was… Just meh. Nothing really stood out on the menu which is a shame because comfort food is not boring. This might be good for drinks and a quick bite in the city. The atmosphere is still very romantic and inviting but food does not measure up. I was also surprised that at 8PM on a Friday night, this place was not that busy. I think it has much to do with the location, and I also think it might get more diners during happy hour but again… Just not great. So if you’re craving comfort/soul food, save yourself a trip and find a whole-in-wall platter spot in West Philly. Jones might not do it for ya.

Not a bad spot, just underwhelming. Nice and friendly wait staff, the vibe is a bit strange, I can’t figure out if they were going for mid 60’s mountain house or 1940’s suburban living room… but either way it doesn’t do much for atmosphere. The comfort food selection is on par with what you would expect, meatloaf, mac and cheese, etc, but for 15 – 25 bucks a plate, there isn’t anything special or unique.

The hostess was really nice, and the environment great(fireplace FTW!) — but that’s where the good ends. The snooty hipster server wasn’t kind or attentive at all and seemed irritated I wasn’t ordering tons of food. Hey buddy, I usually tip REALLY well despite what I order especially if I lounge a bit. I get it, I used to wait tables too. But this attitude? NOPE. The other downfall for the two stars here was the food. Utterly average and insanely overpriced. The bread for my sandwich was so stale and hard I couldn’t bite through the crust at all. Probably won’t come back.

Jones is pretty solid, especially for brunch(can’t beat $ 23 bottomless mimosas!!) but this is far from my favorite brunch spot in the city. The food is not anything special and is probably my least favorite of the Starr restaurants, but certain menu items are worth it. Prices are a little outrageous for the food you get. They always have specials and a «special Bellini» of the day– today’s was grapefruit, yum!

Jones has both high quality food and service. The attentive and pleasant waiting staff complements the sophisticated atmosphere of the restaurant. You can’t go wrong with anything on their menu, but my favorite is hands down the mac and cheese! Jones is also a great place for brunch on the weekends, with bottomless bellinis and some out of this world monkey bread! A definite go-to when you are in the city.

Went here for lunch last week with 2 other people(Friday afternoon). We didn’t have a reservation because we didn’t think we would need one. We got a table after a 20 minute wait, so that wasn’t too bad. I think it was busier than usual because of the Villanova parade. But anyway, we ordered drinks and lunch. I had a mango bellini and it was nothing to write home about. It was on the smaller side and was a bit pricey. I had the brisket sandwich for lunch and was extremely underwhelmed. The brisket was really bland and the roll was soggy, but the french fries were skinny, crunchy, and very delicious. Our server was very nice and the perfect level of attentiveness. It seems to be very busy for lunch, so maybe it was just an off day.

I was in Philadelphia for the Love Run Philly this past weekend and since Jones seemed to have a diverse, runner-friendly menu, my friend and I decided to make this our pre-race dinner. Overall, a nice experience! We knew we’d be getting the man n cheese(helloooo carb loading!) and it did not disappoint! Bubbly, cheesy, and hearty, this mac was on POINT! My friend and I liked the build your own salad option and decided go that route. The salads we ‘built’ were enormous and delicious – exactly what we were hoping for! We didn’t get any drinks but the cocktails looked wonderful as well. The vibe is really cool, lots of neat décor and overall very upbeat. I’m docking a star because Jones seemed to have lost the reservations I’d made via OpenTable more than a month ago – very strange since it was still showing ‘booked’ in my OpenTable app. It turned out to be fine and the hostess found us a seat, but it seemed like it was a problem despite my showing them the reservation. I’d probably go back to Jones next time I’m visiting Philly – I hear they have a great brunch!

I’m usually against Starr restaurants but I heard about the bottomless that Jones offers and figured I’d check it out. We came in around noon on a saturday and sat at the bar because who doesn’t like getting drunk and chatting with bartenders? If you want a table be prepared to wait. I opted out of bottomless because I didn’t want to be too intoxicated and went with a Bloody Mary instead. LOVE that you can choose what kind of mix, alcohol, and all the garnishes you want. I basically got everything which was like a second meal. My friends ordered the bottomless bellini which is a great deal. It was ~$ 25, they actually give you the bottles so you can pour at your own pace. They also have three different flavors of purée so you can make the bellini to your liking. My friends wanted to «get their moneys worth» so they killed 5 bottles. lollll. The bottomless is over at 3pm FYI. I ordered the tomato soup and grilled cheese. Both were awesome. The bread of the grilled cheese was amazzeeeee. Service was quick and our bartender was super cool. I’d definitely come back for brunch!

This was my first time here and I enjoyed the food. Has a strawberry Bellini that was yummy. We ate at the bar since there was an opening. They now take reservations per signs up in the window and inside the restaurant. My friend and I both had the chicken and waffle dish. It was a whole waffle and 2 pieces of chicken. Chicken was fried well and moist. I would have it again. The muffins were a special appetizer that I could not pass up — they arrive hot and you could smell the chocolate inside them.

I do like the food at Jones but I am knocking stars for portion size: cost. We got the cheeseburger which was just ok, London broil(good!), and the sesame tuna(amazing). I am seriously obsessed with sesame tuna dish. I mean coconut rice and basically tuna sashimi? Yum. Also got the banana cream pie for dessert which was so good that we were throwing forks for the last couple pieces. The food is good thus the following but the portions are smaller.

Came here for lunch with some coworkers. The lunch menu is pricey and the Cobb salad is not worth $ 17.00. Bar service was great. 2 and half Unilocal.Cool décor

Good spot. Went for brunch with 8 people. The protein plate was good– very filling. My friends got the ALT and some of the omelettes. Everyone was pleased with their meals. Bloody Marie’s were PRICEY. It was cool you filled out a little card for any additional toppings– spicy, pickles, avocado… But would add up to like $ 12 – 15 a drink depending on what you want. Bellinis and mimosas were a little sugary and pulpy for my taste. Would stick with bloodies. Overall fun place, good atmosphere– not crazy expensive.

Our very personable waitperson described Jones as serving, «American Comfort Food.» Even before seeing the menu my mind was wandering about what that would mean to my Chinese friends experiencing local cuisine for just about the first time. For me, a brownie and a glass of milk is comfort food, but for anyone lacking a database of experience, they might have some fairly wild ideas. Turns out, they didn’t have a clue and relied on me to order for them. Okay. I was up for the challenge. How about a good burger for the 19 year old, and a turkey club for his mother? Handled. I’ve been curious about the chicken & waffles craze, so when I saw it on the menu, I stopped reading. We were all satisfied with our lunches. The burger was a big hit with the young guy. He believes burgers are the height of American culture. He could be right. Turkey is not well known in China, but the combination with bacon, lettuce, spicy mayo and tomato seemed to captivate my friend. I moved quickly to remove the long wooden picks used to hold each quarter together, as she was unaccustomed to this shiv and nearly poked her eye out. The fried chicken arrived as a breast/thigh combo with golden brown crispy coat. It was good, but perhaps a little too salty. The waffle was the better companion, done well on an iron and still steamy soft within with a hint of sweetness to counterbalance the NaCl on the bird. As a lover of Southern Fried Chicken, I did not truly appreciate the passionate embrace of these two carb loads on one plate. Call me old fashioned, but I will stick with waffles for breakfast and fried chicken for other meals; although I might be convinced to change my mind if someone poured pure maple syrup over both and allowed me this sticky indulgence. Jones is a very nice facility with high ceilings, which make the brown sandstone columns around the house quite attractive and draw eyes upward, giving the sense of a mountain lodge in Red Rock, Sedona. Made the saying of «Grace» seem totally appropriate.

Ahhh, Jones, how I have missed you so. The irony is I have thought about you since Thanksgiving just passed; as I would order your Thanksgiving dinner regularly while I was there. Okay, so I tried a bunch of other things on the menu(that may no longer be) including my first taste of potato pancakes with sour cream and applesauce(Canter’s takes care of me out here with those now), cobb salad(I’ve got Swingers Diner cornered here), Duncan Hines chocolate cake(still looking for that alternative) and of course, your never-fail burger. I even tried my ex’s double cut pork chop, and I realized I still hated pork(it wasn’t Jones at fault). I almost always ran into some random people here unexpectedly, including an old English professor whom I had a crush on who happened to be with some other professors. Since I was long out of college when I saw him, it was initially awkward, but I guess we(okay, I) matured where I was able to carry on a conversation without worrying about it affecting my final grade. Even my friend with me was impressed. Sadly, this was the last time I was able to see him, but I enjoyed the fact that Jones was the setting for this impromptu final visit. Comfort food has always been my weakness, and Jones always fulfilled this I even love the fact that their website hasn’t changed(same setup, even same music!). Also, the décor has remained the same; they still have that giant mural of the ladies in Atlantic City tossing around red balls, and the fireplace still burns on those chilly Philadelphia nights. Nice to see this Starr establishment still exist on the corner of 7th& Chestnut. You’re definitely on my place to visit when I’m back in the area.

I’ve walked by this place a million times but never once thought to stop in here. From the outside, it looks more like a fancy steak dinner spot but I was definitely surprised when I saw the menu. It’s definitely a comfort food and diner-ish place. We got reservations for 7pm on a Sunday pretty easy even though there was a good crowd when we got there probably from the nearby touristy spots. The décor was retro and definitely had a Stephen Starr feel to it if you’re familiar with his other restaurants. It was a hot day so I started with the black and white milk shake which in my opinion was the best thing I tasted on the menu. Worthy of five stars. For my entrée, I ordered the fried chicken and waffles(definitely not on a health watch here). The waitress brought over some syrup which was a bonus. The gravy that came with it was extremely tasty, it was a rich flavorful gravy with chicken bits, carrots and celery in it. However, the chicken was salted so heavily that I had to eat around the breading. My bf ordered the thanksgiving dinner which consisted of turkey, gravy, stuffing and mashed potatoes. At some point during dinner, he made a comment about the mashed potatoes tasting store bought and heated up. There were some hits and misses but next time we’ll probably try something different or check out the brunch that’s supposed to be good here.
