One of my favorite go-to breakfast/lunch options. The bagels are good, but the real highlights are the custom schmears. Don’t come here if you hate cream cheese. If you love cream cheese, you will love their schmears. They offer a perfect, generous ratio of cream cheese to top your bagel, and if you are lucky enough to have extra, it’s phenomenal by the spoonful of spread on crackers. They have great options for sweet or savory! I like to get the veggie delight on a toasted whole wheat everything bagel or the stuffed French toast if I’m in a sweet mood. Bagel sandwiches are generally in the $ 5 – 7 range, and they are well worth it with the amount of toppings mixed into the schmear. Gluten free bagels are available! To top it off, Schmear It has very friendly staff and gives 5% of proceeds to local causes.

Had my first Schmear It experience this morning when my non-profit catered from them. We ordered a ton of bagels and two signature spreads. The bagels were: french toast, blueberry, cinnamon raison, plain, whole wheat, and sesame bagels. Spreads were plain cream cheese, stuffed french toast(cream cheese, strawberries, bananas, walnuts, cinnamon, and maple syrup), and Loxsmith(cream cheese, chopped lox, scallions, tomatoes, and cucumbers). I tried the french toast bagel with french toast spread and a gluten free bagel with both spreads(thought incorrectly that I was celiacs so they ordered me a special one). The regular bagels were okay, kind of dense which I didn’t love. The french toast spread is awesome if you like slightly sweet breakfasts(which I do). I didn’t actually love the loxsmith, but that might just be a matter of preference. The gluten free bagel(which they have!) is smaller than their regular size(it’s maybe half the size), and even denser than their regular bagels. It doesn’t have too much flavor but it’s a good base and I actually sort of liked it. If I go back I might get the gluten free bagel again actually. But if you are celiac or just don’t like to eat gluten, this is an option! Also since they have non dairy spreads you can come if you’re vegan/lactose intolerant as well.

Best bagels ever… I went here every week since the truck was right in front of my law school, and Thursdays were just not the same without it! My favorite is the veggie delight on a whole wheat everything bagel(yes… They have whole wheat everything bagel, and it is sooo good!) my other favorite is the one with lox pieces too.

A little pricey for bagels, but there are those days that I just cannot resist dropping by this truck parked on Penn campus! I am a big fan of their lox bagel and veggie delight — flavored cream cheese for the win! I love that everything is mixed in together so you can get all the flavors at once(and it’s a little easier to eat). Oh and they have whole wheat everything bagels! I also see that they have started serving cold brew, which I must try sometime. They also take credit cards, which is such a plus if you never carry cash(because all your cash is spent on cash-only food trucks) like me. If you are carb conscious, they will scoop out the insides for you. I always think to do this, but haven’t been able to get myself to ask for them scooped out because I have this love and hate(mostly love, which is the problem) relationship with carbs. Make sure to check their twitter for updates on where they’ll be every day!

Just moved up from DC and they don’t have bagels like this down there. Took a chance when I saw a line behind the truck in a random neighborhood, figured they must be good. I got the flaming whatever bagel and the French toast bagel and both are amazing. The French toast is surprisingly light like another reviewer said. Five stars.

What a big letdown. The everything bagel was just an average bagel. It was a bit hard, not warm and soft chewy, like bagels at other places I’ve had. Scallion cream cheese was okay, nothing special. There was quite a lot of cream cheese on the bagel; I was never crazy about cream cheese.

The bagels can’t get any better and the guys are always very friendly. I always make it a point to come here when I can — although the carbs do add up! I recommend anything on the menu and of course you should always ask them for suggestions. I’m also a huge fan of their social media presence — their communication is very reliable.

Standard good bagels with more interesting flavors than you’ll find at the market, but nothing extraordinary or out of the ordinary. The guy working the truck was super friendly.

Passed by several times this week and decided to try them this morning. I had 2 plain bagels, one with cream cheese and the other with peanut butter and bananas = OVERTHETOP!!! Good service, friendly = I will be coming back!!! Thank you!

For all the hype on Unilocal’s reviews, this is a comically mediocre bagel. I ordered an everything toasted with cream cheese. I got a sad, barely topped bagel with very little cream cheese. The texture is lousy, there’s very little everything flavor to be had due to the lack of topping, and though I guess the cream cheese is alright, they certainly gave me «just a schmear.» The first quarter of my bagel had just about no cream cheese on it, and there wasn’t much on its opposite half to spread around. If you’re interested in their wacky fillings, maybe this review isn’t right for you, but if you’re looking for a really good bagel with good cream cheese, look elsewhere in Philly.(And tell me when you find it.)

Great bagels for a good price, tons of mix-in options, and nice guys who do the making. Their website does a nice job of keeping track of where they’ll be parked that week. I make it a point to stop by if I see them on the Penn campus in the morning(usually along 38th north of Spruce).

Best bagel! You can customize your choice of bagel(blueberry, french toast, whole wheat, poppy seed etc.) with many choices of mix-ins(mango, walnut, cucumber, carrot, strawberry etc.) and fillings(cream cheese, salmon salad, egg salad, tuna salad, nutella etc.) Prices vary with your choices but the base is $ 3 and every mix-in is $ 0.5. Special fillings(salad) are $ 2. So generally you will end up paying $ 4-$ 6.5. Maybe a little overpriced but the customization totally makes you feel its worth.

I’ve had better bagels, but I’ve also had much worse. They make up for it with the crazy fillings. I love the flaming islander on a sesame seed bagel: plain cream cheese with mango and sriracha.

Oh hell yes! How fun and delicious! Pick your bagel, pick your spread, pick your mix ins. Vegan options! Woo hoo. And the so fresh and so crisp. So yummy. kiddos would love to create their own with those yummy fruit and chocolate chip options. These guys were the nicest ever! A perfect experience all around! They are opening a brick and Mortar store in West Philly real soon and I know we will be visiting often. YUM!

Want to get some great food, breakfast or lunch, AND support someone who makes an impact on the community? Schmear it is your place. I became obsessed with Schmear it when they parked themselves in front of my school on Thursdays and before I knew it they became the thing I looked forward to in the week between classes, studying and meetings. I definitely recommend one of their creations, my favorite is the stuffed french toast. But my other go-to is an everything bagel with cream cheese and scallions. The choices are almost endless though. The service is great, everyone there is cheery and happy to talk to you. I’m in reading period now and I hunted them down just to make studying more bearable. The walk is always worth it. I follow their Twitter feed and regularly interact with them to figure out where they are and they are always responsive. Oh, and did I mention they take credit cards, too? Best food truck. Ever. And currently my favorite business in Philadelphia.

Oh Schmear It, how I love thee! Substantial flavorful bagels with perfectly hand mixed eclectic schmears. Thus far I have had the privilege of enjoying a French Toast bagel with the French Toast spread(sans bananas, sub mango) and a special of the day(Nutella, raspberry jam, strawberries, something crunchy) on a chocolate chip bagel. Call me crazy, but I love customized spreads! They take this perfect bagel in whatever flavor you choose(toasted or plain) and then slather it in a hearty portion of «hell yeah!» So yes, it’s cold as the dickens outside, but every Friday you’ll find me mouth breathing and shivering for a chance to put this sweet mother of God into my oral canal. *iced coffee with brown sugar cream is also highly recommended. **check their Twitter before heading over to confirm that nothing has delayed their arrival at LOVE Park.

I forgot to bring breakfast to work with me last Friday, so I was very happy to see the Schmear It truck parked outside of Love Park. I wasn’t familiar with their offerings, so I ordered a regular old sesame bagel with plain cream cheese… and I wish I hadn’t! Not that it wasn’t delicious(it was), but after reading all of the Unilocal reviews and getting to explore their menu more, I am already anxiously anticipating the next time I see that truck so I can get creative! Service is so friendly(they must be morning people) and prices are very reasonable. They also have coffee. I’ll be back!

I would not be surprised if a Penn student asked the owner if they could have bagels that are scooped out. Ya know? Anyway, one scooped out bagel with lox, cream cheese and scallions later… i’m in love. And 200 calories less fat or whatever. Owner is sweet, people working there are engaging and they have a loyalty card! Mon-Weds they’re at Penn’s campus on 38th and Locust. They’re also there Friday but not till 10:30am.

Love love love For one, when I tell people about it, the first fabulous thing is their name, everyone loves it. Two, vegan cream cheese. Three, their cream cheese style — you choose what you want blended in, and then they make the schmear right then und there. The choices! I usually go with cucumber on everything, but I’m tempted to find out if the pretzel bagel I see every so often is vegan and do a PB+pretzel bagel combo … Four, excellent people. They’re so nice, and when I was totally baffled by their schmear making system, they explained it. And there’s a punch card for frequent bagelees. I hope they keep coming to Love Park, and I’ll keep trying to recruit herds from work to visit!

Not quite sure why you dummies are withholding stars for this place. Get any kind of bagel you want and have it schmeared with an overly generous portion of your favorite filling for as little as 4 bucks. My favorite is the flaming islander — mango, cream cheese and sriracha. I was skeptical just like you prolly are right now but it’s got the right amount of heat and decent mango bits in there. The banana and nutella one rounds out the top 2, especially if you’re like me and you like sweets just as much as you did when you were a little baby biatch. Service is very friendly. Get 6 or something and get one for free.
