I never, ever eat at subway. But I was starving getting off the train & saw that they serve breakfast all day. I got in line behind 4 people, & the 3 people behind the counter were a well-oiled machine. Truly. The people in front of me were definitely being difficult, and this crew handled it with aplomb. Courteous & efficient for fast food. It’s nice to encounter that every so often so I thought they deserved to be acknowledged!

I frequently stop into the Subway by the SEPTA station, just before I catch my morning reverse-commuter train to the suburbs. They are fast and friendly. I can go in knowing I have 5 minutes to my train and I am always out with my breakfast in time to make the train.

This morning I had a coupon for Subway and the coupon states«FREEBREAKFASTSANDWICH Get a regular 6″ breakfast sub or 6″ breakfast flatbread FREE when you buy ANYDRINK before 11AM.» According to the Philadelphia Gallery Subway employee, this«ANY drink» item DOESNOT include a COFFEE. Isn’t a coffee«ANYDRINK»?!? And… why would I want to buy a COKE at 8am in the morning? I want a medium or large(which I offered to buy to make up the price in a medium ‘fountain’ drink, and HESTILLREFUSEDME) The employee tells me that he doesn’t think Subway would offer a medium coffee for the«any drink» coupon because it costs less, «Er, …WHAT??? But I just offered to pay more?» In the fine print it states«Excludes premium subs. Add-ons extra.» It doesn’t say anything about it HAVING to be a FOUNTAINSODA versus a coffee… Not so happy about going to this subway now… And I stop here four to six times every two weeks, or, I did. Also, the employees there aren’t exactly the most helpful people, in the worst way: with eachother. One of the employees clearly had a language barrier and no one would help him on register while there were three other people in line last week. It was really sad, and it took us forever to get through because the guy and girl were not«on» their shift yet. Not the first time I’ve seen this subway in a not-so-great light. I guess I can just as easily give my business to any of the other willing coffee shops/on the run shops in the gallery instead for my morning run before the office.
