UPS Customer Center

If I could give less than one star I would. UPS driver decided to post a note without bothering to wait two minutes for me to open the door and then the UPS representative accused me of lying rather than admitting that the driver was wrong.
Now after paying a lot of money for an overnight delivery I have to drive to this horrible facility at Oregon Ave to pick up the package myself.
Never use UPS.

I think UPS is doing a wonderful job. I am a frequent customer of Amazon and do all of my holiday shopping online. My packages are always delivered in a timely fashion.

If I could give this a zero I would. Completely unorganized and the «lines» you stand in make absolutely no sense. You wait for on average of an hour, even though they tell you to come from 7−830pm. Every time I come I hate every minute of it. They should have weekend hours or another ups facility. Hours are horrible and they open at 11am on weekdays, can’t they get their lazy selves up and open around 9am?
It’s just the worst place ever imaginable. You can’t win in Philly, the post offices are horrible and Fed Ex you have to go all the way out to Greys Ferry.
If the UPS driver had left my package at my steps I wouldn’t be in this predicament. They leave packages at your house when there’s a few and likely to get stolen but when you have one small package they hold it. Absolutely horrible!!! Can’t describe how much I hate this place.
It’s now 10 (the store closed at 8:30) and I’m still waiting in line. Bring a chair and a few beers because your back will be killing you.
It took me TWO HOURS

This is easily the worst shipping and pick up facility you’ll have the pleasure of coming to. They will randomly reschedule your delivery and provide excuses like «the system automatically did it» as a means of covering their negligence. They won’t be able to give you a legit reason as to why it was rescheduled or why they don’t know where your package is. When you request for your item to be held for pick up, they’ll still send it on the truck for delivery anyway so when you show up that day for pick up, they’ll tell you you’ll have to wait until the truck gets back (anytime between 7:30 and 10PM). Hope you win the truck lottery! No one can give you an honest answer as to why the service is so pitiful. It took a week+ for me to receive a package because of the runaround. I pity the poor souls who have to deal with these people.

So I was going to give them a 2-​star review, but then I saw the «Meh, I’ve Experienced Better» phrasing next to it. Honestly, when going to a huge customer center like this (Fedex, Comcast, etc.), this place is fine. It will take a little while to pick up your packages even if there is no line. Sometimes the person helping me can’t find my package and then goes through a different door 5 minutes later.
TIP: If you do not have a license showing the address your package was shipped to, make sure you have the email for your shipment or at least a piece of mail with your name on it! They won’t give you your package otherwise.

Completely chaotic, unorganized, and incompetent. Anticipate spending 45 minutes attempting to retrieve the package from here. On one remarkable trip, I waited for 90 minutes to retrieve a package.
The staff has no answers.
Avoid at all costs.

JUST NO! worst ups ever! they LIE about deliveries, saying that they’ve attempted when they really haven’t, they mess up your deliveries by scanning them incorrectly by incompetent employees and they disregard all requests. they lied to amazon, telling them they misplaced a package but then called and told me that the package was there… redelivery wasn’t even attempted while the tracking info said they couldn’t attempt the delivery. wtf?! whatever management called me was useless, unapologetic and a c*^#.l! i’ve had more problems with them in the one year i’ve been in philly than anywhere else in the country my entire life. they truly suck!

Philadelphia isn’t knowing for having the best customer service but this place has got to be the hell hole of world! The customer service here the absolute worst I have EVER encountered!
Let me preface this by saying that I am a person of patience. I always try to be understanding and considerate of other people trying to do their jobs.
However, this facility will make even a saint go insane!
My package had been attempted to be delivered twice so I figured I would go to this location and just pick it up to avoid any further delays.
I figured picking it up would take 10−15min. Wrong! I was called by a very rude person who assured me my package would arrive at this faculty at 7:30 for pickup. Well I got there at 7:30 and realized that this would become a project.
The line was out the door! There must have been 50 – 60 people there! No order was provided by staff. When I finally was able to speak with a worker they took my information down on a sticky note pad and disappeared. I was not told any information on the package. I was just left in agony amongst all the other people feeling just as frustrated.
2.5 hours later. After being on my feet the whole time with no updates I was rudely told by an employee that my package was «lost». He didn’t even seem to care and I question if he even knew what package was mine. I feel he just wanted to start clearing out the place (it was 45 after their closing time) so he just wanted people to leave.
I was told to leave and call ups customer service.
I left the facility only to call the customer service line and find out that my package was physical scanned at the facility and there should’ve have been any reason why I should’ve have been able to retrieve it or told it was lost.
So, this one package now cost me $ 40 in cab rides, 6 hours wasted of my time, and a lifetime of a sour taste from this company.
I will NEVER use their services again!!!
This facility needs to be shut down.
And to the workers there, I hope you never find yourselves in need of someone else’s assistant bc I do believe in karma and you don’t deserve anyone to ever help you!

When it rains, it hails. Today was sunny and clear skies. I prepared for hell by changing my delivery to be held instead. I knew I wouldn’t be home so there was no sense in waiting for the slip. I made my visit shortly after 12pm. Only a few people were being waited on. I read off my tracking number to the employee by the front door and showed proof of address with my PECO bill. She gave me a post-​it to bring to the counter. A minute later I was out of the door with package in hand. There was no free punch and pie, but my noon trip went as smooth as I could expect it to. Note: This was a Wednesday @ Noonish.

I obsessively track my package deliveries just like any good recovering addict. My heart skips a beat as I run down the three flights of stairs to my apartment mail room to retrieve a package, and the satisfaction of seeing the «out for delivery» status is about as good as any drugs I have ever tried.
So, imagine my frustration at seeing an updated alert that a failed attempt was made. Seeing as I lack patience or open afternoons, I made the venture down to South Philth-​adelphia.
My best description of this facility is this: imagine that the Philadelphia security checkpoint fathered a child out of wedlock with the Center City DMV… the Oregon Ave. UPS office would be their respective offspring.
Come prepared for lines, undisclosed wait times, minimal seating, and maximum people watching.
The time WILL pass if you play exciting games like, «Guess the package contents based upon the individual’s perceived personalities», or «what felony did they commit?»

listen… i hate missing my package deliveries just like the next guy. So i know i have to go all the way down here to get it. I wish the people who worked here had some ‘life’ to them. I know you work at UPS. and its probably the most boring job EVER, but why you gotta make me feel all awkward! The service is soooo slow. i mean seriously, what would take 2 minutes… takes 10. sad times for UPS
you must have proof of residency and an ID in order to pick up your pkg.

Ticket on door is marked «Final Attempt,» even though it was the first attempt and someone was actually home at the time.
I figured I would pick it up on Saturday — but they are closed on weekends.
Why?
I will probably just have the item shipped back to the store, and avoid any online business that ships UPS.
It’s just not worth it.
This is supposed to be a shipping company, not a do-​it-​yourself-​when-​we-​say-​so business.

I just had to give the UPS Customer Center a shout out on here after my experience yesterday.
I had to ship some sporting event tickets through UPS. The company I sold the tickets through instructed me to print out the shipping label, which I did… before accidentally leaving it on my desk at work. The tickets are time sensitive, so they had to be out Monday night. I figured I’d just have to pony up the dough for a Next Day Air delivery. But when I explained the situation to the worker at the desk, he told me that they’d figure something out so that I didn’t have to pay an unnecessary shipping cost. He went back and came out with a very nice woman (I’m assuming a supervisor) who logged onto the computer at the front desk for me so that I could access my email. The printer is located in the employee-​only area, so she went back and got my print for me.
If that’s not excellent customer service, I don’t know what is.

Fairly unimpressed with handling of issues such as:
We will call you back within an hour and again tomorrow.
Nope! No such thing.
Try to call their local number? HA. What a joke — must be off the hook consistently.
Not that UPS reads their Unilocal reviews, but come on — FedEx seems to be the only package service in Philly that works as it should!

I can’t believe this I’m leaving a 5-​star review, but here goes nothing.
UPS in general is probably my least favorite shipping service. I trust FedEx and even USPS exponentially more. That said, I order a lot of Amazon products and a lot of online stores ship with UPS so it’s just a necessary evil.
Most recently I’ve figured out that if you can reach out directly to them at this customer center, they are infinitely more helpful than the idiots on the phone at a UPS corporate call center. They work to get the firm location of the package and know exactly what’s going on with it. They can make changes for you that cannot be made remotely via the call centers, and they also keep you updated. Multiple times I’ve had reps at this station call me directly to notify me of changes to my parcel or delivery. Never a bad attitude but instead a genuinely caring and patient attitude towards whatever issue I had.
I’ve also never had a rough time actually heading in there. I do see the picture of a long-​ass line on this page but for a UPS center that’s dispatching packages to the entire Center City/​South Philly/​probably larger metro area, what can you expect? The customer service reps have never been rude to me here. As long as you walk in with a door tag or tracking number and proper identification after being notified that your package is ready to be picked up, it’s really not a bad experience.
It looks to me that most of the negative reviews on this page are from pretty ignorant people who do not understand how UPS works. I really appreciate the great service that comes from this place and now that I have the direct phone number (which UPS call centers will not divulge), I have no worries about getting packages in my hand in a timely fashion.

If I can only give this septic tank of a business zero or negative stars then I would, but I guess one conveys my dis-​satisfaction. The people who work here are nothing but rude, uneducated, and ignorant pieces of garbage. They do not deserve a steady paycheck, but a pink slip! My ID should of been enough to pick up a package, but they never said anything about needing a bill or anything with my address. If I go back and they keep my pacakge hostage then I will be calling the Better Business Bureau on your crooked company!

Worst experience in the world !! I have been waiting almost 3 WEEKS for my 3 packages to arrive. I have called and spoken with at least 6 customer service reps
(Jason, Joanne, Tara etc.) all of which have given me a different story.
I was supposed to have all of my packages by Monday Dec 8^th at the latest, I ordered them in mid November. I checked my tracking information online and it stated, «The receiver requested this package to be held for pickup at the UPS facility. /​The receiver agreed to pick up the package this evening.»
I did NO such thing ! Why would I pay almost $ 50 in shipping costs to have to go all the way to South Philly (I live in West) and wait in an extremely long line to pick up these packages myself. I have no idea how this got in their system and I think it is poor business practice to speak on behalf of a customer that made no contact with you.
After explaining my situation to Joanne who was a bit less incompetent than the others she guaranteed that all 3 of my packages would arrive on Friday, Dec 12^th between 12pm and 1pm. She stated that I could leave a note downstairs in the lobby of my building with my signature stating that the driver should leave my packages. I did not trust this however so I took off work early and waited around my lobby for the drivers to arrive.
They were extremely short with me and very lazy. One even stated that they normally don’t even stop at my building because there is no doorbell. They have never left a notice alerting me that they have attempted to make a delivery which leads me to believe that they just drive right by and change my delivery status in the system.
He also stated that my hand written note stating to leave the packages will not suffice and that he would give me one of his notes to put on the door. I waited at the door for them to give me a note because I have a few more packages coming in next week and he just drove off and did not give me anything. ughhhh
So I get upstairs and check my packages and of course I’m still missing one. I immediately call and again am given the run around. I was told by 3 different reps that my case would be marked as urgent and that I should receive a call within 1 hour. I did not receive a call from anyone after several hours. I gave up and decided to call today.
I call first thing this morning and tell them just to hold it (hopefully they can handle that) and i’ll pick it up myself and I will NEVER use this shipping service again or buy anything online that uses UPS.
THE worst ! I’ll definitely be writing a letter to their corporate customer service center because this is just ridiculous!

I’m trying to think of something nice to say… At least there’s a parking lot?
The woman who called and left a message about my package repeated the info three times, which I liked. Okay, so we’ll go with two stars for said woman and the parking lot. The customer service I received during my brief visit was non-​existent. I asked two or three questions and each was met with the same «I dunno» from the dimwitted, robotic employee.
Lesson learned: dealing with the Philly UPS employees in person is just as frustrating as when you have to call and wade your way through the automated prompts.

Just to confirm what everyone else says: this place sucks. When they tell you to come between 7 and 830 on a Friday night– don’t bother getting there right at 7 to get your package… the drivers don’t START getting in until 730. So when they say 7, show up at 815… ugh!
Bring a book– maybe earbuds too because the place is full of angry people with lost packages.
Update: don’t bring earbuds because they call you up by address in front of a room full of people so then everyone knows where you live… VERY unsafe

Last time I was here must have been an isolated incident because my next experiences were nowhere nearly as good.
First, how come UPS keeps attempting to deliver to my place before 5pm? That pretty much guarantees that there will be no one there to receive the package. Do they think people don’t have jobs and just sit around all day? Back when I was a full-​time student, I received packages closer to 7pm. Now that I don’t get home until 5 – 5:30 because of work, of course they deliver my packages early.
Who can afford to spend a $ 20 cab ride every time to go pick up their package at the remotely located UPS center? That defeats the purpose of a delivery service!
Sometimes, they don’t even attempt the delivery, but record it as such on my tracking anyway. I’m referring to the time when I was sitting by the door with my laptop, anxiously waiting for my package, refreshing the tracking page every 2 seconds like a maniac. No delivery truck came, and yet, at one point, the tracking page stated «attempted delivery.» I don’t know who the slacker delivery worker was, but it was clear that they didn’t even bother to come because (1) I was right there! (2) I didn’t see any delivery person and (3) there was no attempted delivery note left anywhere.
Also, what’s with the non-​existent communication between the first floor (sorting, etc…) and the second floor (business office, etc…)? When you call them, the business office tells you that you can come pick up your package because all the drivers went home, and when you get there after driving 30 mins, the folks at the counter say they have no idea where the package is because it’s still out there on the road.
This is definitely one of those places that might make you question the meaning of human existence.
