Steak ‘n Shake

Eh. Ok. It’s Steak and Shake so expectations aren’t high. Service was good. Coffee was absolutely horrible, tasted like burnt cigarettes. I usually can handle most places coffee but not enough sugar or creamer to fix it. Food was what you expect.

Steak N Shake is a’ight. We have a fast-​food type stand in NYC. With limited menu options.
I really wanted to try a sit down SNS. I thought they’d have breakfast all day. They do not. BOO!

We like this place… But it’s always so dirty in here. The floors are filthy and the high chairs are disgusting never mind the bathrooms so the big question is how is the kitchen?

I generally enjoy Steak ‘n Shake, but everything about this location was awful. The bathrooms were absolutely horrifying, we had to wait 40+ minutes to get our food, and my milkshake arrived with a hair in it and they still tried to charge us for it.

I like steak n shake I do however when we arrived there was a young man who said he had been waiting for 15 mins and another lady in front of new who had been waiting for 6 mins ok is a little busy is Saturday however there wasn’t anyone who said hello be right with you anything just waiting, then the lady who hasn’t been waiting that long was seated first not fair then we er finally seated after that we were helped however the service could’ve been better. i only have a star bc you have to I would’ve Gave none

Good food, fast. Great price. Actually a great burger! Had the burger with an egg. Great fries and of course shakes.

Food was normal but sloppy. Parking lot full. Waited at least 30 minutes for food. It’s a Thursday night. Had errands to run so much for that. Drive thru wrapped around the building. Bet they didn’t have to wait 30 minutes. Have a diner OR a drive thru!!! Obviously you can’t handle both. Miffed!

I’m a fan of Steak ‘n’ Shake. Never really had a bad meal, did have one bad experience but I know the reasons for that. It was a Friday… insanely busy and somehow our order got lost in the shuffle. It happens.
I really like their hamburgers and fries are the best. You can get different seasonings on your fries. I like the parmesan and herb, but you can get vinegar and salt or sea salt and cracked black pepper. They have a great $ 4 menu, so you can really get out of there on the cheap.
I also got the Caramel Apple shake and while it didn’t look exactly like in the picture (but then again, what does?) it tasted just like a creamy caramel apple.

Never eat inside. I have never eaten here yet, where there was not garbage on the floors. I’ve never seen anybody push a broom. The bathroom smelled like the grease trap was backing up into the plumbing. Again with the uncleanliness in the bathroom. Cigarette butts and garbage litter the parking lot. Cars using drive through are served much faster than those diners inside. It’s obviously their priority. Wave your glass up in the air to get a refill. The food was hot and good when it finally came. Cheap menu keeps you coming back.

Good food, friendly service! !! I have been severel times and never have been disappointed.

I went to this location before reading reviews, and I’m glad I gave it a go. The food came out fast, hot, and fresh. The shakes were thick and not melty (which is the worst!). The staff was friendly and awesome. We were seated fast and the waitress was an all-​star. We will be back for happy hour shakes soon!

I have been to this steak and shake many many times before, generally when I go it is no earlier than 11:00 PM. Usually when it is that late there may be one or two seats that are occupied. Last night was different though. Almost every seat in the building was full, and that is the reason i believe that it had sub-​par performance.
When we first arrived we stood in the doorway waiting to be seated for roughly ten minutes. There were seats available but the staff was very busy with the amount of people that were inside. When we finally got seated our drink orders were never placed, no placemats were given, and neither was silverware. Once again we waited a good 15 minutes for our order to be placed. Our server was obviously not used to this amount of traffic and was fairly nervous so we were pretty easy on him, he took our drink and food order at this time.
The food came out fast as is usually does and tasted wonderful.
For a pretty bad visit I’m giving this steak and shake a three star rating because of numerous times I have been there in the past when it wasn’t busy, or when it was busy but during a different shift and everything was fine. I believe that for the amount of traffic in their last night they were a tad bit understaffed though.

The best place still for a great milkshake! The staff was fast and friendly and the girl who made our milkshake was fast and did a great job.

You know I used to like steak and shake, a lot, but since I moved and went to this local one I have changed my mind. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! And the whole reason to go is the shake, it was more like a cold soup.

Been there lots of times, but I wouldnt call this fast food, even tho they have a drive through. Place is always clean, service is good, and the food is great. The Frisco melt is one of their unique sandwiches that can only be had there. Fries are the best Ive ever had. And the chili is outstanding. They also let you stack coupons… as many as you can use, even on one check. Kid friendly too… hats, coloring, and usually some sort of toy… our Granddaughter loves this place. Good eats!

The food is OK. Standard fare. My problem was service. It was absolutely horrible. Took over 40 minutes to get our food. The entire restaurant was having the same issue. The staff seemed as though they could care less. Not even an apology. Very poor experience.

First let me say that this review is NOT about their food. Overall the food was good, hot and tasty.
This review is about the employees — HORRIBLE! Not one of them knows how to smile, the manager being the worst offender. All seemed to be related to a turtle or snail because they all seem to move in slow motion. The manager obviously does not know how to make a schedule as there were not enough staff on Father’s Day Sunday! The dining room was dirty… no strike that… FILTHY! When we checked out the team member did not say ANYTHING to us. He reached out and took my check, opened his hand for the money, gave me my change and walked away. Not only did he not thank me, he didn’t look at me — and I know what you are thinking — no he was not deaf or mute… because he turned to talk to another staff member.
Management at this location needs to be replaced as do most of the team members — hire some people that enjoy their jobs and enjoy customer service!
UPDATE 6÷22÷12 — I complained to Steak N Shake Corp Offices. I received an email thank you for the information and also a call from the Manager of this location. He asked me what happened and appologized. He said he would do his best to make correct the problems. I told him we would not be back to his location. I told him that I am in customer service and I understand the position he is in — but when it comes to a food establishment — he only gets one chance.

I’ve never been a fan of Steak ‘n Shake. The times I’ve been have been simply to appease the family hierarchy. I hate there thin — seem to always be cold — french fries. Back on topic. I went with family tonight, and still nothing wow-​ed me, causing me to rethink my review. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Guacamole sandwich. Instead of their cold, hard fries, I got a side salad.
The sandwich: Blah. Couldn’t taste anything other than the guacamole and the slight kick to the pepper-​jack cheese. The side salad comes with shredded red cabbage and carrot on top. There was close to 12 pieces of chopped lettuce, all contained in a plate the size of my palm. AKA, hardly considered a «side,» it was so small.
I’m getting a headache just trying to formulate my thoughts into words, so I’m gonna stop. Basically, nay for SnS.

There was a bunch of angry people here when I ate here. Most of those folks were in the drive thru. Apparently someone working there went into labor and had to be taken to the hospital, so lots of people had messed up orders.
I dined in and I had a good experience. The waitress was pretty friendly.
The triple burger was pretty good. Kids eat free on weekends, so the place was jam packed with kids before/​after the movies.
Ahh, the suburban life.

Good deal that kids eat free all weekend, the rest mediocre.
The staff not the greatest and asked us if we wanted shakes about 5 times, and I am just not a fan of mixing creamy shakes with fatty foods

I had one of each of the shooters and a side salad which is pretty useless at a fast food place and a waste of money.
the shooters were ok, tiny and 10 cent extra for cheese on each one doesn’t really make it a good deal if you think you are paying 99 cent for one bite of burger, then I’d rather go to McDonalds anyday.
The fries and onion rings also not fresh, seasoned or anything worth getting.
My husband had the western BBQ Bacon Burger and my son the kids meal with chicken nuggets and nothing blew us away.
The only thing they have going for them is the free kids meal, which is probably the only reason they get any business.
No reason for us to go back here.
