I tried this place with a few friends and we ate out on the patio. It was a nice atmosphere and the food was good, but not anything extremely memorable. Many of the salsa ingredients are grown on site and you can taste the difference! That is the one major highlight of this place. Not to mention, close to closing time, they did have a baby raccoon that came to visit patrons on the patio and swipe a chip or two! He stayed away from people and was adorable, but some people may be wary of this.

Have been going to this restaurant for quite some time. I was also a customer before it was called Zapatas. Went for dinner tonight and had Zapatas steak tacos which were ok. Had wings which were so small my mouth dropped open. Got the hotter sauce they have and it just didn’t taste good. Got a tall modelo and the beer was not very cold. All in all I am giving it a 3 as they usually are a bit better then tonight. This is really just an «ok» restaurant for Spanish food.

Imaginative dishes, but poorly executed… bordering on the bizarre. They were clearly over-serving the drunk locals at the bar who were shouting and obnoxious, which is not only frustrating but dangerous. Peculiar hours. Not impressive. (2÷5 stars accounts for atmosphere; would be just«average» 3⁄5 if I didn’t have to listen to the people at the bar.)

First time visiting Zapata’s Grill last night. Loved the open feel and the patio, while I did not sit outside, looked very nice. Excellent service! Food was great! Slightly more expensive than other Mexican places I’ve been to but it seemed like the portions were a little bigger too. Hoping to stop back on a Monday for their margarita night. Overall a wonderful experience.

Great margaritas, I like the Texas or Cadillac but the House Zapata rita is a solid choice too. Chips & salsa always on point, add some queso and you’re all set. Zapatas is redefining ‘Taco Tuesday’ with their all you can eat tacos on Wednesday for only $ 5 bones, yea I’m serious! Chicken, beef or pastor. If you’re not visiting on a Weds the Zapatas steak tacos or fish tacos are awesome as well. I really enjoy all the variety options with their sides, not just beans n rice. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced, chill dining experience check this place out. One thing that kinda weirds me out is that sluggish rude hostess in combat boots & a hair bonnet, umm just don’t get why she has a job greeting customers.

This place is a hidden gem in the town of Pickerington! Definitely unassuming, as it sits in a strip mall type lot with a minimalistic sign, with beer specials posters plastered all over the windows and door. You would think this was a bar restaurant instead of a restaurant with a bar. The food was amazing; generous portions and a pretty inexpensive combo special. The service somehow was better than the food; WHEN you go ask for Jenni! It was completely random that I even found this place but next time I’m up this way, I know I’ll go again!

I’ve reviewed this place when the name still came up as the old one. We love this alternative to La Fogata, same family atmosphere and service, delicious food. The patio is great on a summer afternoon for sure!

Stepped into this joint expecting to be amazed. Let me first point out that the staff aside from a person my boyfriend knew were completely off point. Another letdown were the fact that the fresh made tortilla chips were greasy and broken instead of the light and crisp I’m used to. Hell I’d even let those two negatives slide if it weren’t for the deal breaker of messing up my order. Every Mexican place I eat at I always order ala cart chicken quesdilla with strictly just grilled chicken and cheese. My food arrived to the table accompanied by rice, salsa, sour cream and guac. The additions are all foods I lack any appreciation for and since my quesdilla was touching them I asked for a new one. The waiter thought he was slick by bringing back my quesdilla with evident sour cream and guac culprits upon it. I was not only disappointed but disgusted at their laziness and lack of care. Thank godness for the gentlemen we knew who worked there that we were able to complain to and finally get my order correct. I may be blonde but let it be known that I am far from dumb. I will keep favoring El Vaquero.

Good food and great staff. Been there a few times and always had a good relaxing time. Roshin was my waiter. He was new and did a great job. Bar tender, Evan, was quick. Only reason I didn’t rate a 5 was because the volume for the OSU game was down.

Two stars only because the bartender really tried… chipotle is probably more authentic and definitely better! The margaritas aren’t fresh, the décor is dingy. While I was there someone was cleaning the floors and the chemical smell made the food and atmosphere feel more like a truck stop. Don’t waste your time or money

Haven’t gone in awhile but heard they were under new ownership. Changed name confirmed that so we gave it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. Victor, our server, was great! The food was great! We will definitely go back.

Toss out your old mental association and try Zapata’s. Let me preface this by saying that much like everyone else in Pickerington, we have pondered going, but avoided it, as the old Patron was stunningly awful. It actually set the bar so low that we avoided the place for three years. I had checked on Unilocal, and the word was that the place changed ownership, with rumors of it being owned by the same family as La Fogata, which is great, as the biggest problem with La Fogata is it gets super busy because it is great. Don’t know if it is true, but the food was good and quick at Zapatas. So we had lunch, and it was great. We had a lunch tacos(soft chicken) and a taco salad. Victor, our server, told us to get the grilled chicken with the salad. Good suggestion, as it was fresh and delicious. The refried beans, salsa, chips and rice were all delicious as well. The Guacamole, as suggested by Victor as well, was homemade and fresh. Service was top notch, especially for lunch. I can’t believe that the place wasn’t busy, but I think the old Patron left a really bad taste in everyone’s mouth, all puns intended. The restaurant wasn’t busy, but it was clean. The restroom was also clean. The best thing I can say about the restaurant is that by this experience, we’ll go back and are looking forward to it.

If you’re already in Picktown, Zapata’s is a solid choice for Mexican. I really like how big, bright, and clean the restaurant is. The menu is also very clear and easy to understand. Not too many choices… but just enough to make the decision difficult. The staff is super friendly and helpful. One thing I thought was weird though – anytime our server refilled our water, he would take our glasses away instead of just bringing over a pitcher. Not a big deal – just odd. The food was totally what I expected: piping hot, delicious cheesiness. I had a taco, beans, and rice, and everything was very good.

The service is a tad on the slow side but I have to say, the food is really good. I think it’s better than the other Mexican chains in the Cbus area. They have really unique offerings and the portions are huge and worth the money!

When the Spanish speaking community eat at a Mexican restaurant, one expects good Mexican food. That is what my wife and I received. Everything was made fresh and to order; I could tell because everything needed salt and for this I was thankful as I try to watch my salt intake. The guacamole salad was, cool, fresh, and refreshing(guacamole needed salt) and the refried beans were hot and also needed some salt. This to me also indicated they weren’t out of a can. Wanting to give the most accurate review I could, I asked the waiter if the beans were homemade and he said YES. He told me they get a big bags of beans, soak them overnight in lightly salted water and then cook them(without adding additional salt which explains why I needed to add salt) the next day. Wife says her lunch special chicken burrito was very good. It came with a salad and a drink fir $ 5. The burrito was very large; she couldn’t eat it all. There were 2 mistakes in our order but they were quickly made right. All in all, a good lunch experience!

Service wasn’t bad, food left much to be desired. We ordered some new type of beans, the server said the were tasty and popular… they were basically beanie weenies, literally had cut up hot dogs in then! Guessing it’ll be our last visit.

First off, the only reason this restaurant got 1 star is because I had to give it one to write this review. I ordered carry-out this evening for my family… or at least attempted to. It took approximately 15min to even place my order. Once I received my order I drove 20min home to my family. Upon checking my order I noticed they forgot the tortillas for the carnitas. At this point I went back. I told the manager I wanted a refund or new food as it would be an hour total after receiving the food that I’d get to eat. So the manager brought new carnitas and tortillas. So then asked about my burrito. The manager then took the carnitas and brought me my burritos with the tortillas. Then I asked where the carnitas were. As he was in the process of saying I could heat up the old ones, I interrupted and stated that for $ 30 I shouldn’t have to cook my own meal. After the whole debacle the food was ok… not worth the hassle. If you’re looking for Mexican cuisine in ptown go to la fagota or even Taco Bell.
