As cute as the bakery appears, the quality of the pastries and bread are poor. First, the espresso had a low pull, and tasted burnt. They need to choose a higher quality bean. The pastries were pretty fair. Very sweet, soft texture, which equates to an easy sell. Everyone spoke about the almond pastry, which appears to be made of the same dough used for their donuts and was tasty. The main issue with this bakery is not allowing everything to bake long enough to create the desired toasty Maillard flavors. Everything was underbaked in my opinion. The laminated pasties were quite sad. They were pale, instead of the deep brown maillard that should have developed during the baking process. The laminated also looked broken, or just was underproofed. Lastly, the bread itself. It too lacked the maillard effect during the baking process. We got one of each type to compare. The raisin bread was most disappointing – extremely crumbly. This is either from rushing the mixing process and not allowing the gluten to properly form, or they are not using the correct type of flower… or both. The bread should not be crumbling away as you try to spread room temperature butter on it. Instead it shreds away like cotton candy. In addition, they do not produce enough product. by 11 am they tend to already be out of everything. Most crowds tend to arrive by noon. Many things need improvement in this establishment.

This place is the best! We’ve bought their fresh bread, pies, and BEARCLAWS! The quality is superb and there’s such a ‘family’ feel to sitting and having your favorite with a cup of fresh coffee. Invariably, you’ll find yourself in conversation with one or several of the locals who frequent the bakery. That alone should tell you something. A ‘must do’ if you’re on the mountain!

Perfect haven for a post snow-play warm up! Great food, amazing Mexican hot chocolate & «the best kids hot chocolate EVER»(according to my son). Also a great selection of games for the kiddos. Bobbie had infinite patience for our crazy group. Already planning our return!

It’s a great bakery. Not too much selection and they go fast so it’s best to change me early. Also quit small inside, gets cramped. But besides that great quality and professionalism. They changed the dough on the plain glaze, they used to be my favorite. Not any more… :(

I too have experienced the sadness of arriving at the Bear Claw only to discover my favorites were sold out. I found the solution! This morning I arrived as soon as the doors opened and my wishes came true! Not only did I get my favorites, but they were so fresh they needed special care. I added a croissant and have to say, I will be back for more. Bright and early!

Really cute spot with delicious pastries and great coffee. Friendly small town service. Places like this don’t exist in LA, so glad I ventured to Pine Mountain Club.

The best and freshest donuts I have tasted anywhere, though one must arrive early in the morning(within an hour or so of the store’s opening) or the donuts will have been sold out.

Best. Donut. Ever. So I was in town for the Annual Run to the Pines car/motorcycle show(what a great event!) and two people told me how amazing the bear claws are, as well as the homemade bread, etc. One lady even said people come from all over, even L.A., just to get them. I figured, yeah right, okay, sure it’s probably good, but it can’t be THAT good. Well, it is. My husband brought me the last bear claw they had and I took the first bite and was immediately struck by the glorious taste of buttery dough, then the cinnamon kicked in, and then the chewy and soft pillowy texture. I realized that not only is this definitely The best bear claw I’ve ever had, but I actually think it’s THE best donut I’ve ever eaten.(Cronuts are in their own category and therefore don’t count). This place is awesome! They definitely walk the walk. And the lady I met was right because I’m already planning to drive the 60 minutes from Valencia to get goodies here again very soon. Those two reviews from 7÷12÷15, are absolute garbage, those people are on crack or something.

I ordered a croissant(as that’s pretty much all they had). What I just ate was not a croissant. I don’t think I would go so far as to call this a bakery.

Was this the right place? All they had was donuts that looked like they’re from Costco, anemic croissants, and bread that looked like someone shoved pre-made dough in the oven. By 1PM, they always seem to run out of everything… bizarre. I’ve checked the sign on the door, and yes, the name matches.

Love their pastries, both the sweets and the savories. Plus the lattes chocolate white are really quite nice. Service is well done, back for more we will come.

I used to live in PIne Mountain Club and frequented the delightful Bear Claw Café often with my 2 small lads in tow. We still talk about how much we adore the doughnuts and spinach croissants(we moved from there over 2 years ago now! and haven’t found an equivalent yet!!) We now live in Australia now and look forward to coming back one day to visit, sit in the kind and friendly atmosphere sipping some hot chocolate on a snowy day…

This review is long overdue. The donuts are hands down the best I’ve ever tasted, baked daily and the owners are friendly and welcoming, but not that uncomfortable fake friendly that I find unbearable in the morning before I’ve had my first cup of coffee.

Whenever I go to Pine Mountain Club I look forward to getting a donut or two from Bear Claw Bakery. Their donuts are among the best I’ve ever had, and their pies are good too!

Great staff. Bear claw is the best I have ever tasted; light and flaky with a great almond flavor. I’m kind of a apple fritter snob so take this with a grain of salt, but their fritter has a good flavor but it’s on the dry side. Almost tastes baked. Their breads also looked delicious but I didn’t try them. Enjoy!
