Q: Why were the little strawberries upset? A: Because their parents were in a jam! This is my second time at the Pine/Strawberry Summer Festival [back then, it was known simply as the«Strawberry Festival”]. The first time I came here, it was a humble-sized event with mainly arts & craft tents. This second trip had disappointingly similar results. We took the 1.5 hour drive to snap a few photos, pet a few dogs, and eat some treats like Indian Fry Bread and bratwursts [which we can get for cheaper and better in the valley]. They sold jewelry, soap, dog leashes, pepper jelly, and flower crowns. I was pretty disappointed that we pretty much drove all the way here just to walk around and peek at some small tents. The most fun we had was visiting their«mall» on-site which was basically a thrift shop. My friend made out like a bandit with sewing/knitting supplies. I did enjoy the cinnamon rolls with the chocolate and vanilla sauce and topped with bacon brittle from Sassy’s Café & Bakery. They apparently are located in Mesa! Yes! Must visit! As for strawberry items, the only ones present were in our hats and headbands that we made for the event. We were more festive than the townsfolk! They did apparently sell their advertised«Strawberry Treats» with strawberries from California. Strawberry shortcake, strawberry floats, chocolate-dipped strawberries, et cetera… all stuff you can get in town! Save your gas, y’all! If you live in the general vicinity, I guess it could be fun.
