I came here a few Saturdays ago, by bus, as a college student from ucb, looking to buy tap shoes. I got lost, had to ask like five different strangers for help on taking the right bus, and after a 3 hour one way trip to Pinole vista, I made it to this store. I’ve been shopping for years and I have to say, this was one of my best shopping experiences ever, despite the trip there being terrifying and tiring. The store was not too crowded and I loved that they had a section for dance shoes set to the side, so I didn’t have to go scavenger hunting for what I wanted. The sales lady was so nice too and she even offered me some sort of promotion/discount where my purchase gives me 10 dollars worth of free socks, which I wasn’t even aware of. The tap shoes themselves are what I’m most happy about. I’ve been dancing for more than 11 years(ballet and jazz), but I was new to tap and wasn’t sure what type of shoes to buy. Before this, I had made a trip to sf dancewear and bought a pair of Mary Janes for $ 30,(the cheapest pair they had), because their leather ones were about $ 80 at least. On the first day of tap, my teacher said I was better off dancing in leather rather than patent leather. I then bought a pair of leather ones from Payless for $ 30 and two months of dance classes later, I still feel like that bus trip was so worth it.

Walked in didn’t see anyone working but my daughter need costume shoes. Let my daughter pick out her own shoes and brought it to the register and the lady said those shoes aren’t on sale accusing me of changing the tags, bitch please. I said there’s 3 pairs same thing said on sale. like I give a damn over $ 15 shoes seriously! Never coming back they need to fire her ass. Should of just went to target instead

I was very disappointed by an employee tonight. I ordered boots to be delivered to my local Pinole store and paid for them in advance on-line. They arrived at the store a few days later than the expected 3 – 5 days as I was first informed. I needed them for a special event. I called as I drove to pick them up and said I wouldn’t mKe it by their 9:00 closing time but would be within five minutes after. The woman I talked to was very polite and agreed to wait for me to get there since I had already purchased them. I arrived within the five minutes but no one was visible in the store. I knocked on the window but got no response. I called but got no answer. I sat outside to wait and saw someone scurry out to place something on the shelves and then rush back to the back room. After ten minutes of waiting(and several phone calls) two women walked to the front door. I walked up to them and explained that I was the woman who had called. The younger woman wouldn’t look me in the eye and said we were closed. I said I’d already paid and just wanted to pick up my boots(as promised in the phone call). She said she didn’t have time for the paperwork.(Then why wasn’t that explained to me when I called). She then rushed off and left me standing there. The other woman apologized and said she wanted to help me but the other woman wouldn’t let her. I felt very disappointed and was upset that they had told me something but hadn’t followed through. If I ever order from them on-line again, I will not be going through the Pinole branch. I feel the woman’s response was unprofessional, misleading and rude. And I thank the other, older woman for her kindhearted effort.

I don’t particularly appreciate being asked for my phone number to buy a pair of socks. Dear Payless– stop asking your employees to be so pesky… They’re just trying to do their job, and i probably won’t return because of it. Aside from that, and being asked what size shoe I wear upon stepping through the front door, this is your run-of-the-mill Payless. The parking lot(through no fault of their own), is always a war zone.

Good customer service in helping you find right size, supervisor can be pushy in informing you on other items that are on sale and if you buy this you get this for ½ off and goes on telling you about other items. I had to tell her I’m here too buy one pair of shoes and that’s it. All the cross selling was starting to irritate me. I noticed the coupons you get for 20% or 30% off they never have a sale when the coupon expires, the sale is on.

Customer service was okay. I went in to make a return but the woman at the register kept trying to get me to use my credit to make an exchange or to purchase more items. I told her multiple times I did not want to do this. Then her system failed because she pushed the wrong key on my return and instead of crediting my credit card she gave me cash instead. She asked if she could give me the cash instead and I decided to take it since I didn’t want her to ask me to purchase something else again.

Awesome customer service! My hubby was just browsing but liked this pair of shoes and unfortunately they didn’t have his size around. They went and checked inventory at the McDonald store and found a pair there for him and even printed him a $ 3 coupon on top of the sale price! We went to McDonald(its by the new Target) and hubby got his shoes! The end!(Happy Ending: P)
