The Cheese Steak Shop

It has been about 4 years since I have had a Cheesesteak Shop cheesesteak. As I walked back into the store I was reminded why I stopped coming here.
It is old. The pictures are faded and the whole place could use a fresh coat of paint.
It is filthy. Every table was dirty which forced me to take it to go.
Takes forever! The wait for my sandwich was in excess of 20 minutes. One lady waiting even complained to the people behind the counter and questioned why they only had one cook.
The customer service lacks. The lady behind the counter was nice but she was struggling with some basic math regarding coupons and upgrades. A customer placed an order via phone and was told they did not have his order. After 5 minutes of this conversation they said they did have it and it was being cooked. Lastly, one of the employees was in the bathroom for as long as I was there, 20+ minutes. That is yuck!
What did I learn today? Thank goodness I am up to date on my Hep A shots and I did not get food poisoning.

King of Philly, extra pepper, curly fries and jalapeño poppers! I order all of this and have enough for two meals (or enough to feed my boyfriend and myself included). Service is prompt and friendly. Delicious and consistent food every time!

Good customer service good tasting food for the price. Its a good place when u have a few people with a variety of tastes and hunger levels. Will definitely be back.

It’s been my go-​to spot ever since for these yummy Phillies.
The toppings of pickled bell peppers and jalapeños, melted cheesy goodness and with shreds of steak, is so bomb.

… I love this place. I always order the pepperoni pizza cheese steak with NO SAUCE. it’s kinda greasy in the BEST way!!! And they have dr. Browns root beer in a little glass bottle and that makes me happy too. enjoy
Get a big one not the little one you’ll be glad you did. TIP get a punch card cause you’ll definitely be going back.

This place is depressing visually, but the sandwiches are really great.

I just walked into this place. I asked the man behind the counter how he was doing. He looked at me like I was crazy. I thought maybe he did not hear me so I said it again. How are you doing? He looked right at me and he said, «hijo de la chingada» !! Which is a very big insult in Spanish. He then smiled and asked me what I wanted. I called him on it and said why did you just curse at me in Spanish. He tried to play it off. WHAT AN ASSHOLE! Hey owner of this place! Fire this guy right away. I can’t imagine how many of your customers that this guy has insulted before me. I left the restaurant without ordering anything. How can I trust someone like this not to spit in my food? Can you imagine?

This is purely on the service today! Today is not the day to come in! I was the second person to order today and it took over 30 minutes to get 2 sandwichs, ridiculous! When I asked they said they had really large orders, wish I could have gotten that info when I ordered! Guess I should have called mine in, as they were filling phone orders instead in store. They were up to 15 people waiting before we got our food. We even told people coming in the door to go else where because their kitchen is closed. There was orders in the phone that was taken after mine that got made before mine! The management needs to get their kitchen in line and teach your employees sympathy! There was almost a riot waiting so long! Horrible service!

The woman who works the front register is rude and obnoxious and doesn’t care if the order is right. The cook makes whatever she wants for you and doesn’t care what you ordered. They won’t cancel a credit card action and if you call to inquire why such a problem, they will hang up on you. Miserable people.

Horrible service, small sandwiches when compared to other franchises, and apparently you have to spend $ 8 to get a stamp because $ 7.75 doesn’t cut it. Go to Togo’s or In-​n-​out and enjoy your meal instead.

Because I was pretty hungry when I was here, I think I cannot give an objective rating on this place. Having said that, I’d have to say that the big cheesy beef sandwich with lots of jalapeños I had at that time was enjoyable, and that curly fries were delicious, too. I think I’ll probably drop by this place again some time soon.

I shouldn’t have but I did. Ordered a 10″ philly cheesesteak… shame never done that before. I blame it on my unborn child, she made me do it! I swear. Very uncharacteristic of me. Always delicious, always hits the spot; quick and friendly service. I just get irritated that they’re always shady with «extra» hot sauce. But that’s okay, that’s why I always have my own Louisiana hot sauce ret-​ta-​go!

Love this place I actually went to jims cheesesteak in philly and I actually prefer this place better I been a fan of the cheesesteak shop as long as I can remember super good well done yummm this location is a good one

I love this place. Sometimes, the wait can be a little long, but I always leave full and happy!

Solid 4 stars. Good food, can be a little expensive if you aren’t careful (see weekly specials for best deals).
Sandwiches take about 10 – 15 minutes with no crowds, ~20 minutes if crowded.

I placed all call order for a regular cheese steak sandwich, 10 inch in length will all peppers and onions. Explaining this over the phone with the person was the utmost difficult experience I’ve ever had with placing a food order at any eatery in my years.
I’ve gone over this with the person four times. When I arrived at the place, I was given a 15inch spinach hoagie with large fries. I said no this is not what I ordered. I again repeated in person what I exactly wanted, and again I was asked with onions only? I said no, with ALL PEPPERS AND ONIONS. Now I’m waiting for my order, not only to arrive home and find that my sandwich only had onions.
This would not have been such an issue, but I was in a rush. That’s the whole reason I called in.
Normally I would have an OK experience there, but this time, this was ridiculous.

THIS PLACE IS DIRTY AND NASTY!!! I ordered a chicken sandwich which ended up tasting like pork ! It was shredded chicken had no lettuce, tomato, taste, and there fries were freakin nasty! Soo thick and under cooked !
The place it self if soo disgusting !! Hellaa dirty and smells bad !! DONT GET ME STARTED WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE !! You walk in and every employee looks at u with attitude. I will never go back!

The dude and I are regulars here. We typically call in our order and pick up but have dined in as well. I’ve never had a bad experience, and most of the crew have been working here as long as we’ve been patrons. They have yet to screw up an order, and we are very particular about our cheesesteaks.
Does it bug me that we pay almost $ 30 for a 10″ and a 15″ meal? Yeah it’s a bit steep for fast casual. But when they stamp the hell out of your frequency card, it’s worth it.
Seasoned chips, onion rings, twister fries and corn fritters are good stuff as well.

So horrible. I can go to subway and get a better philly and i hate subway thats how bad. Ive gone here twice tried to give it another chance and it aint happening.

Sloppy nasty sandwich and i seen a guy picking his nose in the back while waiting for our food, with no gloves! Yuck never will be back.

Let this be a lesson not to judge foods by their corresponding Hot Pocket flavor. I’m so ashamed! How could I have been missing out on this fatty greasy delicious goodness this whole time? For years, I thought cheesesteaks were composed of dry slices of roast beef covered with flavorless white «cheese» goo and limp sadness onions. How could I have been so wrong???
I don’t know what is up with this crazy delicious bun, but it’s crazy delicious. Big and fat and pillowy soft with a slit cut down the middle so the corners can still hold all the juicy cheesesteak goodness inside. The meat doesn’t have any gross sinewy parts and gets chopped up real small so there’s no ripping or tearing involved — just a pleasant and effortless sandwich eating experience. The peppers are imported from Philadelphia and they are somethin’ else… they don’t have that harsh astringent quality as most pickled peppers, but are tangy and sweet instead.
