I’ve been coming here for over 7 years and know the staff very well. It’s sad and disappointing that there are SOMANY bad customer service reviews and it’s not improving! What is it going to take for them to listen?! My most recent experience(at the bar) was on a Wednesday evening. It’s nice they’ve brought back«Cosmo Wednesdays», however, my drink was sweet and I won’t be ordering one of these again unless Francisco or Luis makes it for me.(they know how)! I decided on the ceviche for an appetizer. The bartender asked me if I wanted the avocado(he said it’s much better with it) so I said ok. Ready for the catcher? He charged me $ 3 extra for the avocado! Making the SMALLAPPETIZER $ 14!!! Excuse me?! NEVERAGAIN. My friend came in and sat next to me(she’s a regular). Took her 10 minutes to get a margarita(which she sent back and then had to ask for more lime) and ordered the cheese plate. After nearly 30 minutes, I mentioned to another bartender that her cheese plate had not come out and it’s had been over 20 minutes! Once it arrived, she had to call them back for a napkin and utensils and ask what cheese was on her plate! Hello? When you order a cheese plate, every restaurant knows you have to tell the customer which is which! I may come in for an occasional drink, but I’ll pass on the food. Service sucks. And the management doesn’t seem to care anymore…

No longer a fan. Just had the worst Cobb Salad in my life. I paid $ 16(including tip) for a tray of lettuce. They didn’t toss it, there was no egg, and the extra avocado I paid for was nonexistent. The avo that I found had brown rotten spots and had to be scraped off. The«ribeye» steak I had there last weekend taste more like chuck, if it had any taste at all. Even salt didn’t help. I honestly can’t believe it was a ribeye because it taste nothing like one. It came with about a cup full of bell peppers, which I’m allergic to. I didn’t know I was ordering a side of bell peppers. I’m done with this whole area. Berkeley appears to be the only town where you can find decent food. Just. Fricking. Done.

Food is always good. Service today was horrible. After our initial orders we had to flag the waiter down for additional service. And that was it. He never came back. After steering at him he asked if we were ok. Great ambience, good food, bit service needs to improve.

I really wanted to give them two stars, because the food was delicious(though overpriced), but I really couldn’t in good conscience. The only reason I’m leaving a review is that the service was atrocious. Our waiter was really nice but hopelessly inept, got all 5 of our orders wrong, they had to bring some of the food three times to the table to get it right and even then we just ate it when the orders were wrong(a steak ordered medium came well done, etc.) because we were sooooooo famished. The food came a good 40 – 50 minutes after ordering, and it took a half hour for our beverages. Nothing complicated, just coffee. And water. No water to be had until we asked several times. Oh and the waiter kept spilling stuff all over. Coffee, cream, water, you name it. On the chairs, on my sister-in-law’s back. And we asked for a scrambled egg for the baby right away, that took over 25 minutes and another ask. It’s an egg. Scrambled. I started eating a Clif bar when I was getting seriously hangry. You know it’s bad when you break out emergency food IN the restaurant. It really was comical. After we complained, they did try to make things right, and offered us free dessert, but honestly, if I were them(and in all the restaurants I’ve worked in over the years), I would’ve comped the whole check. Probably not going back. Nope. Oh, and after reading all their one star reviews, wth? No response by management? They obviously don’t give a f*ck what their customers think.

First time eating there. Was recommended for a good brunch, and my mom was in from out of town. The customer service was terrible from the minute we were seated(6 of us). It took half an hour and us asking twice before a waiter came to our table to take orders. It took another half hour before food started to arrive. My wife actually had to eat a protein bar from her purse because she was so hungry. Out of the six meals, which all came at separate times, four of them were incorrect including a very well done steak that was ordered medium, potatoes instead of fruit, a side of bacon that never showed up, an espresso that showed up half way through the meal because we had to remind them, etc., etc. My wife orders a salmon Benedict, «Can I get regular hollandaise sauce instead of the dill, I don’t like dill» «sure, no problem», dill sauce arrives, «I asked for regular not dill», «we only have dill»…“uhhhh, ok, nevermind”.The two cups of coffee at the table had grounds in them. I’m not talking a few grounds, think hundreds. The waiter spilled water on the table, then spilled cream on my seat while I was using the restroom. He didn’t even even wipe it up, my sister did with her napkin! The manager actually had to get involved in helping the waiter sort out his mess, and he did apologize and offer us a free dessert, but it was to little too late. A disaster like that should have been comped or at least discounted. The prices aren’t cheap, it was $ 100 bucks with a minimal undeserved tip. I understand the restaurant business well enough to understand mistakes can happen, but this was almost laughable. Then we had to ask for the check… twice. The list goes on but you get the point. I’m really not very demanding when it comes to restaurant service, it’s a tough job, I’ve done it, but this place is a mess. The second star is for the food quality. It was pretty good. I ordered the 13 dollar egg white omelet, it was a little crispy on the outside but had a nice taste. The potatoes were cold but whatever. The décor is nice too, modern, and clean. I think they just remodeled and perhaps changed owners. If I ever go back it will be for the bottomless mimosas they advertise, and I’ll sit at the bar and watch T.V. to kill the time it takes to get them.

Kinda loud and crowded but the bartender was friendly and the food was delish. Thank goodness we made reservations. Thanks again to the server for hooking us up with a great table in the middle of all the action.

Ever since they re-opened, the customer service has gone completely downhill. Don’t get me wrong, my friends and I used to love to come here for happy hour or a meal, but ever since they’ve resurfaced, much is left to be desired. Hubby and I dined here for dinner last weekend and left with no desire to return. The drinks weren’t great(tasted like cough syrup) and the food was mediocre. The bar is expectedly loud, but why is the dining area? Don’t expect to hold a decent conversation in this environment. We were seated at the«communal» table in the middle of the dining room and the couple that was seated immediately after us, sat so close to us you’d think we were a party of 4. We politely asked to be moved and were seated at a high top table in the bar. While that experience was much better than the dining room, we didn’t appreciate how they allowed customers who are waiting for a table to stand over the customers that were already seated and trying to enjoy their dining experience. There was a guy and his child standing over our table watching TV while we were dining and the kid almost knocked over our table of drinks.(Side Note: WHYAREKIDSALLOWEDINTHEBARANYWAY???) The father kept drooling over my husband’s food admiring how good it looked, but it was so uncomfortable! I mean, who can enjoy their meal when there’s a loud stranger standing over their plate commenting on chicken and waffles and the game every 2 minutes. We alerted our server and she had them moved, but then someone else came over and stood over our table to watch the NBA game on 1 of the tv’s. And aside from that, patrons were bumrushing through the bar whenever a table opened up because there was no host at the front to seat them. So much chaos and disorganization. Ugh. Overall, this experience was not what we anticipated when we decided to dine here. I think our time at Pear Street Bistro is up. We left without any intention of returning.

Customer service sucks ! When customers walk in you should acknowledge your customers! Six people walked pass me ! Why don’t you have a host??? And I’m disappointed about my order, the lady that took it gave me the wrong order! Get it together pear street bistro ! And not only that the girl gave me the wrong change! The funny thing is that I told her and she didn’t even do anything ! You guys don’t even deserve a star

There are at least three spacious rooms with different ambiances ranging from romantic dinning area with elegant light fixtures to causal sports bar lounge. Friendly service and considerate waiters who are considerate to ask if the background music is turned on too loud or not loud enough. HH is available until 7 on weekdays and my party of two was just satisfied with HH and appetizer menu. They had plentiful choices of dinner entrée ranging from land meat to various seafood selections with under $ 30/entrée. This place can accommodate large parties and also provide a quaint room for smaller parties. Must visit!

Why is there a huge tv advertising their sub par food? I want to like pear street bistro but the food is over priced and just not that good. From a glance pear street looks nice but the acoustics make this place feel more like a weird night club designed around over priced poorly crafted drinks and a beer menu straight from 2003. In a small town without many options I will choose to drive a few more miles for my next meal.

My friend love this place. Finally had the chance to try Pear Street Bistro. Been wanting to come here but they were close for awhile due to renovation. I love the décor, classy but not intimidating. Love the chandeliers at the dining area! Came here for Sunday brunch. Good selection! I tried their Southern Chicken and waffles. It takes a bit if time to prepare. Good portion and delicious. At first I was taken a back by the price, $ 18 but the portion explained it. Hehe! It was seasoned well with just the right crisps I prefer. Servers were very attentive. Our water glasses were never half empty. I appreciate that they informed me that the chicken takes a little longer to prepare. Very courteous servers. Ample parking at the back! Would definitely go back and try their other flavors!

Three of us arrived at Pear at 3:10 for a late lunch. Once seated, we were told that they were no longer serving lunch, and we would have to order dinner. Three o’clock is way too early for dinner, even for a senior citizen looking for an Early Bird Special! But we stayed, because we had been unexpectedly delayed from our original lunch meeting time, and were all starving. Because of the time of day, the place wasn’t particularly crowded, and there seemed to be plenty of wait staff available. It still took them over 10 minutes to bring us water and ask if we wanted cocktails. Another person then came by asking if we wanted bread, and we said yes, please. Unfortunately, the bread that was brought to us was cold and still frozen in the middle! Because it was too early for a full-on dinner, we decided to order a few appetizers — the cheese plate, sweet potato tots with an aioli dipping sauce, and bruschetta with basil, mozzarella and tomato. The wait was about 30 minutes, which is pretty long for appetizers, and none of the ones we ordered should take very long to prepare. We didn’t mind too much, because the cocktails and wine we ordered were quite good. The Prickly Pear Martini with the chili rim was fabulous! The food, when it finally did arrive, was okay but nothing special. Also, when you order a cheese plate, the server usually tells you what kind of cheeses are on the plate.(The menu didn’t specify.) But it was dropped off by a busboy with no description of the cheeses, which was no big deal to me because I love all cheese, but still something they probably should have done. The waiter was pleasant, and the cocktails were good. Still, I can get good cocktails and better food and service at many places, so I won’t be returning to Pear Street Bistro.

This review needed to be updated because this place was closed for God knows how long and finally re-opened. Their prices definitely got higher too. The two stars was solely for their food which, surprisingly, has gotten worse from what they used to serve. The place definitely got a little more fancier. Granite table tops, chandeliers, and a nice check-in table. Hosting a big party has gotten more tight in which you need to either pick a 3 course meal or collect individual orders. I can see why they made this rule, it was definitely easier for the service just to bring out food. As a party of 22, we did individual orders. When we walked in, we had colorful name tags to pick up and then take a seat. Drinks came and then food shortly after. Everyone had something negative to say about their dish and we all ordered something different! All the eggs were overcooked, whether it was poached, scrambled, or over easy! One of us even had to ask for new eggs! We weren’t havin’ it. The steak was dry and not very flavorful. My friend had to ask for steak sauce which we both agreed is an indicator of a not so great quality steak. My other friend was disappointed because the salmon benedict on the menu was described as seared, but the salmon was definitely fully cooked. A plus is the dishes come with fruit which makes the meal well balanced in some way. The biscuits never changed and remains fresh and fluffy. All in all, the place definitely upgraded its décor and ambiance. The staff are the same people, so no complaint there, still very nice people and kept our glasses full. The food was very disappointing especially when it was good before they shut down. Not sure if they got a new chef or what. I wouldn’t come here again for their food on their regular menu, perhaps only happy hour so we don’t have to pay full price for overcooked food.

It was my first time coming here and heard from friends they have great Happy Hour. I actually came here with my partner for brunch. First thing I noticed was their bar in front and were seated from the right side and noticed their lighted round chandelier. Parking was not a problem and wasn’t as crowded that morning. We had great customer service, but as far as being tentative of how I want my rib eye steak cooked, I ended up getting steak too well done when I asked for medium well. Presentation of my rib eye steak with eggs and vegetable looked wonderful and did have good quality taste. My partner ordered chicken and waffles. His chicken was crispy and a bit dry and his waffles were light and tasty. Good food he had, but it did not impress me as much since I’ve tasted one elsewhere where it had such savory taste. I would come back to this place and plan to try their Happy Hour next time.

Let’s just say this won’t be good. After more than a year of interior renovations the thing they forgot to «improve» was the staff. We arrived at 725pm, no reservation. We were sat immediately. We are doing Atkins right now and apparently they didn’t feel we were losing weight fast enough. We ordered after waiting 20 minutes for even water. At 8:40 we still had no food and so did half the tables around us. What an utter shame. Sadly as we got up to leave the waiter was trying to tell us that it «would be right out». A line he had told us 25 minutes prior. Here’s the scoop. If it’s going to be forever, tell the guest. Staffing issues, tell the guest. When guests get up to leave after no dinner, get the manager(who was behind him at the kitchen window). What a waste of time. Carl’s Jr here we come.

Just opened and was kind of disappointed at the quality of the food and service. The food took about 30 minutes to arrive and upon arrival my waffles were cold. I didn’t want to say anything because then that would mean I’ll have to wait again for them to make a fresh one. Also my husband asked for their Bistro burger medium done and it came well done… plus the croutons that came with his Ceaser salad was super stale, not crunchy, but hard and chewy. Second reason I’m giving this place a two star is they didn’t have pear cider. Mind you this is only the second or third day or so of opening! Okay fine, so I opt to get something else. The final thing is I asked for a box for my cold waffles and chicken that I no longer wanted there anymore took the several about 10 minutes to get me. It was not a busy night in the bar area. If it was packed and busy I would understand. I mean, I really want to like this place again, I really do. But they seriously really need to do something to regain our trust(and we’ve been coming here for a long time before it was closed down too). It’s great that they finally opened again but I would think twice about making it a regular place to go to unless they fix these small issues soon!
