Clean, fresh sushi friendly staffs, creative chefs. Came here for dinner when visiting friends, party of 4. This sushi is very spacious, you don’t feel elbow to elbow to other strangers. dish presentations are beautiful, the freshness coming from the fresh sashimi just adds vivid colors to give it perfect touch. From appetizer to deserts, no complaints. The manager there, Scott, also show me a new way of eating sashimi, to use the sesame leaves that comes with the presentation, wrap around the sashimi, dip a little soy sauce. It is gives the sashimi a whole new level of texture and a unique combo flavor. I am hooked! He also informed me that all items(flower/leaves/radish…etc.) on the plates are edible. learn something new. :) Also found out that that have BYOB* without corkage fee! NICE! I would recommend this place. Sushi is always at best when you consume right after the chefs prepare them. PS. Ask for live scallops, they might not always have them(promotional item, i think), I was in luck and received the last order they had for the night. I took the scallop shell home as a «souvenir» to make a key tray for my home. :)

Came here for lunch today and it was just okay. Had one of the specials that included three select rolls & miso soup for $ 15. Wasn’t crazy about the soup but I normally wouldn’t order that anyway. For my rolls I had the peanut avocado, spicy California, and spicy tuna. Compared to other sushi I’ve had in the area, this was pretty average. It satisfied my craving, but there are other restaurants where you can receive better quality. When I sat down, I felt very rushed to order. In the span of 5 min., I was asked three times for my order. The restaurant was very clean and had plenty of seating. I would say the atmosphere leans more to lunch spot/take-out rather than fancy dinner/date night. The place is located in a strip mall so parking isn’t an issue.

I have only ever placed online orders from this place, never got the chance to eat in BUT, with that being said, their food is delicious! Their sashimi is so fresh and their other food such as tempura and hibachi is also great. They’ve never messed up my order and have always provided me with extra plastic utensils, napkins, and soy sauce. Love them! Wish I lived closer.

The sushi was good, but the udon soup was nothing special. The chicken was over cooked, and the soup lacked flavor. The servers were unfriendly and quick to clear our plates without asking if we were finished.

Sushi was decent, service was not friendly. They did not really understand food allergies and were confused by my asking the ingredients in a «sauce». For some reason, because I asked for no sauce on an item, they assumed I didn’t want scallion in my yellowtail roll. I appreciated that they were open on a Sunday night.

This is my go to sushi place, however they dropped the ball today. Ordered for delivery and they did not give any soy sauce, zero soy sauce. Not sure if I’ll ever order from this place again.

Good sushi, horrible service. Upon arrival: We close at 2:30 — it was 2:27. Waitress was extremely rude as well, my friends both asked for water, she brought 1 glass, when asked again she rolled her eyes and sighed heavily. Although the food was tasty, I won’t return because of the terrible service. **Update** My little sis convinced me to give this place a second chance so we had an early dinner here on 1÷30÷16. I must say, the service was considerably better and the food was delicious! I’m glad that I gave them another chance, and if the good service continues I’ll keep coming here to dine!

Whenever I leave Unilocal reviews, I tend to be very generous. However, I am only going to give 2 stars to this restaurant for the following reasons: Discrepancy, and Disrespectfullness. I was in a bit of a hurry, so I decided to have sushi takeout. I walked into the restaurant and asked the staff how long would it take to get a take out. The staff said it would take about 10 – 15 minutes, and the restaurant didn’t have a lot of customers. So I ordered the Alaska roll and midori roll. 2 rolls. I thought they had a computerized system because after taking my orders, all the staff members were talking by themselves. After about 10 minutes one of the 3 staff members left the counter for the first time with the paper that had my order to the kitchen. Excuse me? She told me it would take 10 – 15 minutes to get my food. But she placed an order 10 minutes after taking my order? It took more than 25 minutes to get 2 rolls. I would have understood if they were busy, or if it was during the lunch hours. But NO. It was way after lunch time, and there were only 2 customers in that restaurant. And there were 3 staff members standing there and just talking. It was a very unpleasant experience.

Best sushi in the area!!! Was not expecting much from a strip mall sushi place but I was pleasantly surprised. My girlfriend and I had gone to the Midori sushi in Highland Park and we would rate it 3.5 stars but the one in Piscataway is so much better! It actually looks decently nice inside, something you would not expect from the exterior, and the sushi was of a higher caliber even though it’s technically the same place. I ordered the Orange Roll which was spectacular: spicy crunchy tuna w/avocado inside wrapped in rice and an orange sushi paper. I also ordered the avocado roll which was average but still made well! This place is also BYOB, which is great because one of the best value liquor stores in the area is right next door. They often have groupon deals that are awesome to use, you really save so much money, but the prices aren’t expensive on their own anyways. Highly recommend this place for a causal date, quick sushi run, or anything in between. It is also decently full on Friday nights and Saturday nights so you have a lively atmosphere!

The Piscataway Midori Sushi takes the win for my favorite sushi place in the area! Not only is it BYOB, but it’s located right next door to Wine Chateu, which has the best selection of quality cheap wine. It was so much cuter inside than I had anticipated due to the fact that is was part of a strip mall in Piscataway. The lighting and décor gave a more romantic feel than the Highland Park location. Paying attention to little details is what puts this place above the rest. They brought us a warm hand towel before we started eating. I shocked by how attentive the servers were. There were no points of the night that I felt like I was waiting to be helped. As for the actual sushi, my boyfriend and I loved all our rolls. The orange roll was our favorite. AND Midori Sushi is on groupon and living social. All I can say is. WHAT A DEAL! We only paid $ 10 for $ 20 worth of sushi. I’ll 100% be back to this location soon. I’m so happy to have tried it.

I went to this restaurant with my girlfriend mainly because I had a groupon. The restaurant itself looks very nice on the inside. It’s very clean and spacious, and I like how all of the tables are pretty spaced out unlike some other sushi restaurants I’ve been to. Most of the tables were empty, and there were probably 10 customers in total. Our waitress was very friendly and took our order promptly. We ordered a spicy seaweed salad, a kani salad, the mayflower combination, and an order of fried ice cream. The spicy seaweed salad was great. There was an excellent balance of seaweed, imitation crab, and tempura flakes. It had a slightly spicy aftertaste that I really enjoyed. The kani salad was also good, but the ratio of crab to cucumber seemed a little bit off. it was like 80% crab. The mayflower combination came with 18 pieces of assorted sushi and a specialty roll of our choice. We decided to go with the red devil specialty roll since I usually love specialty rolls that have mango inside of them. The various pieces of sushi were a little disappointing overall. The cuts of fish were thin and long while the portion of rice was tiny. The pieces of sushi were just a little sad looking, and I couldn’t help but feel like they were really skimping on the portions to save some cost. On a scale from spoiled to fresh, the fish was probably somewhere right in the middle. A few of the pieces tasted a little bit watery to me as if they were frozen and then defrosted while other pieces tasted alright. The red devil specialty roll was unimpressive and not at all what I was hoping for. The yellowfin tuna on top was again sliced really thin, and I could barely taste any of the mango. The fried ice cream was really good. They only had one flavor available(vanilla), but it was really tasty and probably the best part of the meal. The prices for the sushi here seem to be about average as far as sushi places go while the portion sizes are below average. The service was excellent towards the beginning of the meal, but we started to feel rushed and then ignored by the wait staff towards the end of the meal. We were given our check without asking for it, and that was before we decided if we wanted dessert or not. The staff wasn’t even busy because the restaurant was pretty empty, so there really isn’t even a good excuse for being inattentive. I would probably only come back to this place if I had another groupon. If I do come back, I would probably try one of the kitchen entrees or hibachi dinners instead of the sushi since it was surprisingly the worst part of our meal.

Midori Sushi is a very average neighborhood sushi bar, subsisting on equal parts restaurant and take out orders. It serves all of the standard sushi dishes, teriyaki, hibachi, and udon, with no frills or surprises. If you’re a fan of rolls, spicy tuna, crab stick, and spicy mayo, you’ll be right at home here. If you’re hoping for an omakase celebratory dinner, I’m not sure they even know what that means. Our group of four came at 6:00 pm on a Sunday and the place was really empty. Obviously there was no wait for a table. The décor is nice, with lots of dark wood, Japanese inspired art, and three large televisions. It is casual, maybe could be nice enough for a date. We ordered: Scallop appetizer(special) Midori supreme Madness roll Oceanic volcano roll Imperial dragon roll A la carte orders of sushi: salmon, white tuna, and surf clam. We tried to order uni, toro, and mango mousse, and they were out. On a Sunday. The scallop special appetizer was very good, with very thin scallop carpaccio in a light sauce with lemons. Everything else was good, although a bit heavy on the spicy mayo and sweet eel sauces. Service was okay. They refilled water and tea, but if they didn’t have to do anything active, they would stand over to the side and text vigorously, so that they wouldn’t see you waving at them from the other side of the restaurant. Price was fair.

This is one of my regular lunch spot. I recommend the Midori salad, seared tuna salad, and chirashi(a fine selection of sashimi with rice on side). The sushi and sashimi lunch combo for $ 14 was worth every penny!

*top notch sushi at reasonable prices. *My Favs: Eel Avocado Roll, Philadelphia Roll. *Must Try: Unagi Don. Seven slices of fresh eel surrounding rice with seaweed salad. The perfect portion. *Chicken Hibachi Dinner is insanely oversized with tons of chicken, noodles, and three pieces of shrimp. *Bento Boxes are only available during lunch hours! *service is phenomenal.

3.5STARS Something about this place attracts me to come here again and again! Midori has a very friendly, comfortable, Asian decorated environment! The moment you walk in you see’ll an Asian-styled, stand up curtain, bamboo sticks in vases, and wooden tables, and these decors make you feel like you just stepped into another world! The place is very cozy and is more suitable for small groups of people, usually between 2 and 4 people. Great AMBIANCE! Here comes the sushi and food! I’ve had the sushi, chicken don(meat over rice), and noodle soups! They have a decent selection of sushi and sashimi, ranging from special rolls to nigiri! I love the fun combinations of fish and flavors that they offer! Some are delicious. Some are okay! The fish quality is not bad. Also, whenever I come here, whether it’s for dinner or lunch, I always see quite a bunch of people, which is a POSITIVE sign! This means their food/fish moves pretty quickly! The chicken don didn’t look too appealing, but the flavors were not bad! It’s a little sweeter than I’d like, but I still enjoyed it. I’ve also tried the sashimi platter, seafood noodle soup, and beef noodle soup before. They were okay. None was too memorable. The sashimi platter was colorful and nicely arranged with assorted fish, but the quality was average, not good but not bad for frozen fish though. The seafood noodle soup was very one dimensional and lacked flavors while the beef noodle soup was way too sweet, which overshadowed the juicy beef tastes. For the prices and quality, it’s one of the better ones around Rutgers University!

The sushi here is amazing. It is always fresh! Definitely a spot to make your go-to sushi place. Now that I have moved back into this area, I am so happy that I am a short drive away from here. I’ve come here plenty of times and have not been disappointed yet. I mostly come for the sushi but recently had their chicken teriyaki which was so good. The chicken was covered with just enough sauce and it was not too sweet. Also they give you a good amount of food. The service is pretty good too.

Sometimes when you experience sushi restaurants you can bet you’ll find yourself questioning if they’re serving up quality vs quantity. This joint serves up a bit of both. Where you get 3 pieces of sashimi for avg of 5 $, the quality isn’t top shelf. It’s not the worst either so it makes you at least feel like you’re getting your money’s worth. That’s my 2 cents on the salmon sashimi. They didn’t have uni available that day so can’t comment on that. Eel sashimi comes with 3 pieces and with a bit too much eel sauce but the size of the sashimi pieces were larger than other places would serve up so can’t really complain about that. Soft shell crab roll is another one of my faves to order from any sushi place and there’s was okay. The tempura wasn’t as crispy and instead was a bit«soggy». Probably won’t order this if I come here again. It’s a BYOB spot and there’s a liquor store in the same shopping plaza which makes access to a boozy dinner convenient. Parties larger than 8 – 10 people are going to get split up into 2 tables because of the space and shape of the restaurant. Came here for a birthday party and we had about 16 people and so we all couldn’t sit together. Nothing amazing or memorable about the décor. It’s a typical black chair, white table cloth type of place. Service was the same — mediocre at best.

eh. Sushi was super easy to order thru Unilocal: was done on time also. The restaurant was cute, can’t speak for service. The rolls were pretty boring. They used a load of spicy mayo to mask the boring combinations of fish. Maybe I’ll order again if I’m in the area but I’m not running back.
