So breathe taking. The water is so blue. So serene! God’s awesome handy work. So amazing!!! It is truly amazing how wonderful and privileged I am to live in such a beautiful state.

Another beautiful little neighborhood park on the cliffs overlooking the ocean and a nice little beach down below. There are a few stairways down and an info sign educating about the tidepools below where lots of little crabs and other critters were hiding. There’s a lot of seaweed in the ocean but sure didn’t stop all the surfers or Lucy from going posessed with her tennis ball. A lovely place to watch sunset in the grass.

This place is a diamond in the rough if you are a long boarder and or a beginner. There is a good amount of parking if you know where to look. Take the steps down to the beach and you will find a nice private beach with few people and nice shallow waves that have a low crumble break. I like the fact that I don’t have to paddle past the break. The bottom is a little rocky but posses no threat if you are wearing water shoes or if the waves are small. Additionally there is a lot of seaweed in the water but it isn’t too intrusive. If you have a nice surf session you can walk up the stairs to grab a post surf beer.

THISIS A PART OFPALISADES PARKs One is South Palisades & goes down to the water while the other(North-East) Palisades is land bound & extends to THEOTHERSIDEOFSHELLBEACHRD. SOUTHPALISADESPARK(AKA Shell Beach Park at Beachcomber) also leads down the stairs toward a tidal beach. It’s entrance is indeed at the South end of S. Palisades Park. You can also see the separate listing that I started, since it can be confusing… which is which park, cove, or beach all around here. On the North-East side of Palisades, you can find 2 – 3 fantastic FREE Basketball Courts & two Tennis Courts on the side of Shell Beach Rd. On the other side, toward the water, you can find a kids playground, a park, tables, benches, &BBQ.(see pics & Goggle Map). I made better corrected listings for Palisades Park & pics of each Park… since the city’s website is confusing. The Goggle street address is 2928 Shell Beach Rd. & you can see the courts with the Goggle Maps Satelite view. They are placed right between the narrow land strip between Shell Beach Rd. and the 101. While the view of the ocean & area is fantastic, the noise from the freeway is annoying. I guess if you have earplugs in, or are listening to an iPhone(or MP3 player) then it is an improvement. They are so easy to miss when you drive by on Shell Beach. Most weekdays, during the day, few people are there. The only time the Tennis Court is unavailable is when they do Tennis Lesson all Saturday mornings. Few seem to use the Basketball Courts which has three hoops & plenty of room. The is parking right there, a water fountain, and a metal bench to sit on & recover. The two Tennis Courts see more people, and a wait is possible(they do have a crappy Pot-o-potty)…but it is still FREE! While in big cities, it can cost you an arm & a leg. The neighborhood is one of the safest & best that is possible. You have a panoramic view of houses that are all millions of dollars, along with a million dollar view. The courts are clean, extremely safe, well maintained, & so easy to miss when you drive by. I am kind of glad that they are relatively undiscovered, except by a few locals… this way, I can often just shoot a few hoops, by my lonesome and get some Cardio for 15 – 30 minutes. I often«ruin» it afterwards by going to the very nearby Lido’s restaurant at the Dolphin Bay Inn, for either their great Private Ranch Burger(with all the fix ins), & go for their 16Oz. amazing very lean Rib Eye(also from a great ranch). They will make it rare upon request, and what protein crazed Carnivore can resist this after a workout… Hey you do need Protein, after exercise… so despite the free courts, I then blow lots of greenbacks eating fine food, with a great ocean view. Hey, I got to maintain my round figure :) Oh, and the Beach Part is fantastic, has a very nice grassy area, an amazing view, has stairs down to the water, & is also amazingly«undiscover» by tourists… thank heavens. There are several relatively«unknown» tiny beach parks all along Shell Beach that extend from Dinosaur Caves Park(which has no «real» dinosaurs which is a long story) & up North to the«nude» Pirate’s Cove Beach. Look at Goggle Map & explore the coast-line. IMHO, these are far nicer than the touristy Pismo Pier area beaches. These beaches can feature rocky tide pools with lovely creatures in them, others have nice shells, others have nice pebbles, others have privacy, & all have great views & super-nice people… except for the infrequent A-hole tourist. Please do not come here… I want to keep it quiet…
