The food was good but we had to leave because the band started playing jet engine loud. Saw some people arrive and leave right away because of the volume. What is going on.

The food is good. Just good. Nothing special. What made me write a 2 star review is the service. We went in on a Sunday night. The patio was pretty full, so we sat at the inside bar. We ordered hummus and a meat plate. And for our entrée, a BBQ Sampler and mac and cheese(to share). It took an hour for the hummus to come out. An hour? For pitas, veggies and hummus? Our entrée came out without the mac and cheese a half and hour after that. The bartender said I never ordered it. I did. It was really not very crowded inside. My husband and I commented that I can’t imagine how long it would take when they were REALLY swamped. Like I said, the food was okay. BBQ chicken a bit dry and I’ve had FAR better wings that took a fraction of the time.

I went here for lunch with a friend. We ordered the scallop appetizer and the veggie wrap. The food was really good. The service was horrendous. The waitress was very nice but she had a party in the other room. We never saw her. After waiting forever for the food, we waited even longer to get the check. When someone finally arrived back to our table it wasn’t even our waitress. Because the food was good, I would give it another try. Hopefully the poor service was a one off.

Good portions. Nice flavor to the sauce. Good service. Little swanky for a BBQ joint, but still a nice atmosphere. I am from the South and good BBQ is hard to find in NJ. This is a place worth going while you are here.

Not great. Nachos weren’t that good. We were hungry so we ate most if them. Kids mac n chee had a strange taste maybe sat in frig and prepped to serve. Kids burger was fresh. House salad fell off plate because plate was a small rectangle. Mushroom risoto was ok. Smoked platter was good until I took a bite of a rib. Very dry. Definitely good and smoked but must have sat too long. Won’t be back.

Beer and cocktails good. Food came out cold. Server and manager handled it professionally. But the flavor of the Mac and cheese — creamed spinach eh. Not worth the money. Ribs and pulled pork good. Will not be coming back for BBQ.

Carolina Blue tries its best to represent legit bbq in South Jersey — using local peach wood to impart their signature smoky flavor in pulled pork, ribs, and their thin-sliced bistro filet. However, if you only go to Carolina Blue for the bbq then you are missing the best part of the restaurant. I have been to Carolina Blue quite a few times and believe their seafood is even better than their bbq — crab cakes, mahi-mahi, and scallops are all solid choices, but they have some of the best sea bass in South Jersey. Be aware that sides are all a la carte, but the twice baked potato and the mac and cheese(adult style) are both nice additions to any entrée. Although I try my hardest to only eat a few, I usually end up filling up on their blue cheese potato chips before my entrée ever even comes. Or maybe it is the three glasses of sweet tea — I guess I’ll never know. Service at Carolina Blue tends to be on the slow side and menu prices are on the high side, but it is a great choice for dinner in this part of South Jersey. The owners of Carolina Blue also operate the well-known Telford Inn in nearby Mantua. Carolina Blue also features live music, a lively bar scene with some pretty tasty signature cocktails, and special events so check the calendar on their website. If you can’t get to Carolina Blue, you could hire Carolina Blue to cater your next event out of their full service trailer.

First review on Unilocal.Usually don’t make one even though I should. But this place got under my skin so bad that I felt that inclined to do so. And now that I am, I realize that I hate this place so much that I can’t even put it into words. I had worked in the service industry for 16 years which makes me empathetic to every atmosphere, but this place deserves none. One star only because it wouldn’t let me review without one. First and last time here… let my experience save you from yours.

Great food, bar drinks, and atmosphere. Try the espresso and creamy chocolate ecstasy martinis.

We had the smoked wings to start, which were excellent. The meat fell off the bone and had great smoky flavor. I tend to finish my smoked wings in a hot oven to crisp up the skin and I don’t they do that here. For the mains, my wife had the black Angus burger and I had the smoked combo. The burger had good flavor, perfectly cooked. For the combo, I chose the ribs, the pulled chicken and the bistro filet. The ribs had a lacquer of sauce on top that looked fantastic and they tasted just as good. The chicken was the weakest part — it was good but I thought the sauce was a little too sweet. If I could do it again I would have taken the pulled pork, which I would think has a vinegar-based sauce. The filet was new to me. It was very tender and had great flavor. I would come back just for sandwich made of that filet.

First of all let me say that I Wish this place was better. It’s basically a bar with ok food… but it is way overpriced. For what they want for lunch or dinner, I’d rather go to a proper restaurant like TERRANOVA on Delsea Drive. I’ve sat outside as well as inside… the Fireside seating is nice outside. Poor service, not so great food and too high prices leaves me wanting a lot more.:(

This is one of those hidden gems that needs to be shouted about from the roof tops!!! Amazing food and amazing staff! We will be coming back! Try the ribs and the pancetta wrapped asparagus. The macaroni and cheese is second to none. And dessert.. . OMG! The grasshopper pie was minty chocolatey heaven!!!

I wish I could really love this place. The food is usually good to very good, but fluctuates with each visit. But for the options in this desolate wasteland of restaurants, it’s nice to have. The real problem here is the weird service. The service from hostess stand to table is sketchy. Hostesses often seem confused, unaware or both. I get it that you’re busy, and pretty much one of the only games in town. But their attitude seems totally misplaced in an establishment like this. It’s difficult to describe it. Not necessarily rude or arrogant, but just clueless and foggy. The servers are usually friendly, but they also seem lost on an island on occasion. Food wait times can be excessive, and they tend to just disappear during those times. One big sin this place has been guilty of more than once is poorly staging timing of apps and entrees. They should not be delivered practically on top of each other, and this has happened enough times to be more than just a one time nuisance. On the other hand, we’ve also experienced entrees arriving 30 minutes after apps, so go figure. The vibe inside is pretty cool. The bar area can be raucous during peak times. But you can also catch a much calmer mood there on off times and late nights. The dining area is nice, and the bar area outside hosts musical acts at times. Hard to call this place a true smokehouse. The ribs and other BBQ items come slathered in cold or lukewarm sauce, which is not how a true smokehouse serves them up. But you can find decent sandwiches, seafood and steak options away from the BBQ. They ought to rethink what they want to be as a restaurant. Drinks are on point, mixed strong and a good assortment of cocktails to choose from. We’ll keep returning. But it’s hard to get overjoyed about this place. It’s not a compliment when you go in expecting some type of issue every time. I can’t help but think that if they had better competition in the area, they’d have to step up their game to remain relevant.

Carolina blue. What a night. My husband brought me here for dinner for our anniversary. He made a reservation and we were seated on time or maybe earlier. He wanted me to catch a glimpse of the entire menu(as i must take forever at a new dining experience!). This place has a rather comforting atmosphere. To the left is the restaurant side with attentive, kind, and helpful staff. Bill was awesome. He knew the menu, he was patient, it was freezing and he helped with that matter(im not one of those but the lady who was next me complained… after she left the next lady sat down with jacket gloves, boots and her purse to keep her warm js) Now the real deal… THEFOOD!!! It was great. Well I got to meet one of the owners, Brad… He was great. A great host, nice guy, nice conversation. No complaints here… He suggested the roasted duck which was a special for the night. I ended up with the pork strip. It was juicy and the apple chutney went well with it. My husband had a flat iron steak he ordered medium and he got it well… it was still good, just not what he ordered nevertheless still tasty… The sides are amazing. The mac n cheese is pretty good. We tried the mashed potatoes, cream spinach, sweet potatoe fries, asparagus, and roasted potatoes… Just go… I thought it was worth it. Im going to go again.

I’ve been here a few times and it’s always been good. They have good food and nice atmosphere. Wings are my favorite here. I had The Seabass which was good not great but the cracked sea salt chunks on top were a turn off. I hated the sauce on the side. The short ribs were good too. My favorite winter drink to get is a hot apple pie martini. Service is average nothing special. Prices are fair.

I’m amazed by the slew of bad reviews. From entrance to exit this afternoon, this place was phenomenal! I arrived with my mom around 1 p.m. She hurt herself recently and wobbled in, and the host found us a suitable table in the dining room to help her feel the most comfortable. They also have a nice bar area, a patio, and a small area to purchase alcohol for later. For entrees, I was torn between the smoked chicken salad and the pulled chicken sandwich. I know, huge dilemmas. I asked our server and she explained the intricacies of each — leading me to the chicken salad sandwich. My mom went for the crab cake sandwich. While my mom said her«crab cake didn’t taste like a crab cake,» she still enjoyed it. And the chicken salad? Well, it’s chicken salad and it’s hard to botch up chicken salad, but this one was especially great. I love when they have celery in them. During the meal, I found myself staring down the artwork in the dining room. It’s all so great! I want my apartment to be decorated the same way. If only. I ate every ounce of food on my plate, yet when our(very attentive and nice!) server asked if we wanted dessert, I went for the molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. Which I also finished off. So good. It’s reminiscent of those desserts Chili’s used to have, but I haven’t been to Chili’s lately, so maybe they still have them. Nonetheless, I’d recommend. My mom also loved her crème brûlée. I’m so happy to have finally found a place to visit in this area — it’s in the site of the old JG Cooks and I’m not sure what took me so long to get there. It’s so hard to find a decent restaurant in Gloucester/Salem counties!
