Pitman Paws

I found Pitman Paws during Pitman’s spring craft show. I bought some peanut butter muffin/​cupcake treat thingies for my dog, which he loved! For the past 5 years, I’ve bought my dog’s birthday cake at a pet bakery in Sicklerville. He loved the treats from Pitman Paws, and I was so excited to have a pet store in town, I thought I would get his cake from there this year. I went on Pitman Paws’ website & Facebook page and saw a cake just as beautiful as the one we usually get, and the same price too. Perfect!
Except it wasn’t, at all. The cake looked 0% like their pictures. It didn’t have yogurt icing, like promised (it was spread with peanut butter, like you would put it on a sandwich) and the writing was very sloppily done in runny green gel. The cake was peanut butter flavor and rock hard (I couldn’t cut it with a knife, I had to break it). Usually my dog sucks his cakes down like he’s a vacuum cleaner, and this time he ate it, but with no urgency or excitement whatsoever.
When I contacted the owner to let her know the icing had completely melted and let her know I was disappointed the cake didn’t look like her picture, she was very apologetic and graciously offered to refund my money, which was nice (but I’m not going to take a cake & not pay for it).
I chalked it up to a lesson learned and thought «Oh well, next year I’ll go back to our tried & true bakery»; at least the treats are good, right… then I got an email from the owner asking for donations through GoFundMe to support the business. One of the reasons I love Pitman is the many small businesses that make up our town, but I’ve never experienced emails asking for donations! I definitely won’t be back now.
