A couple of weekends ago my wife and I were shopping for bikes. We went to a few bike stores in our area. Our previous stop was at Clayton Bicycle Center and they were very helpful and professional. Bay Area Bikes… Not so much… I explained to the man behind the counter that my wife and I were interested in buying a bike. I told him I haven’t ridden a bike in over 30 yrs… The guy barely got out of his seat for 1 second and said okay, then he sat back down. I told him okay, I guess we’ll just look around… He was more concerned in his reading material and less concerned about good customer service… My wife and I just walked out of the shop. Btw, he said bye as we were leaving. smh… If you want good customer service, you should go to Clayton Bicycle Center and ask for Jeff

So, I went to this bike shop a week ago on a weekend. Walked in interested for a mountain bike. Waited for the associate to finish talking to other customer. After 10 minutes he asks us how we are doing and if we needed help, I said we need help in picking out a bicycle. He ignored me and started helping a customer that came in after us. I waited with my friend for another 10 – 15 minutes for someone to help us. No one bothered to help us and I left. Ended up purchasing a $ 600 mountain bike from Schwinn bikes in Antioch. You guys lost a sale from someone local all because of bad customer service. Won’t recommend my friends to buy their bikes here.

Very friendly, helpful and knowledgable staff. They were able to fix my boyfriends flat tire very quickly. I highly recommend going there for your bicycle needs.

I’ve done business with Clay at Bay Area Bikes for years. Excellent service and products at good prices. They are avid bike lifestyle folks who want to see cycling expand in the communities they do business in and I’m totally with them on that. Just bought my second road bike from them. Bought my first Giant Defy 1 from them three and a half years ago and decided it was time for an upgrade. I’ve had them do all my service and repairs and the old road bike is still in great shape after 18 thousand miles.

Stopped by to get some new tubes for my bike and was very happy with the service. Shop is nice and modern and they have what you need. Right down the road from my house, so I’ll be stopping by more often. On that same day I asked for breaks for my bike. They took down the specs and told me they’d call me when they had the break in to install onto my bike. I’ve been waiting since the 31st of Aug, 2013 and still no call. I’m writing this review today because a few days ago I got spam from Bay Area Bikes meaning they got my information, they just either didn’t call me about my break to tell me they didn’t have it in or lost my information. btw, I gave my information to them twice, probably two different people took my info, my bike specs, all for just one break. I live two blocks away and nothing from them. I gave them 5 stars but as you can see it’s 1 now.

I was so happy that a bike shop was coming to Pittsburg! I had to buy a bike, and did the day they opened(just over 2 years ago)! Clay & Glenda are awesome. Due to some medical issues, I didn’t ride my bike for over a year. I’ve recently got back on and have been increasing mileage each ride. I would recommend this shop to anyone. They have bikes for all… beginning balance bikes for the little ones, comfort bikes, mountain bikes, high end expensive bikes, and everything in between. «Thank You» Bay Area Bikes for being our local bike shop!

I bought a 2011 Giant city bike from Clay and some accessories over the past year, and the support and service there is very good. Sometimes I forget the time as I talk about bike stuff with him. I sold my motorcycle and now ride my bicycle all year long, to and from work, even getting groceries at night. Now I am a bike-as-transportation enthusiast. Many other shops only cater to spandex-wearing sport bicyclists, but this one supports people like me who even want to ride a bike because it is a rewarding and more fun way of life.

I haven’t ridden my bike in at least 10 years-since moving from Chicago. I took it to the store for ervice and found Clay to be very customer oriented. The place is clean and well lit. They stock a good selection of bikes and equipment. Their clothing came in all sizes. Something I appreciated. Clay helped me with maps of bike trails. He didn’t try and sell me more than I needed. I can’t wait to start a regular riding routine. Thanks Clay.

I value good service and this location is top notch. My poor bike had been in my garage for entirely too long without seeing the light of day. One of the owners, Clay, offered some TLC to my bike and I’ve been out riding the neighborhood. The other owner, Glenda, helped me pick out baskets so I could visit the Saturday seasonal Farmers’ Market, pick up fruits and veggies and bike home with my groceries. Oh yeah — my helmet was sooooo old I had to buy a new one. They took the time to make sure I selected the right fit/most comfortable helmet(so I’d actually wear it!). They have soooooo many cool, good quality bikes(these aren’t Walmart quality — these are really good quality bikes that will last) and I really want a new one, but it’s hard to invest when I have a perfectly good bike already. I also attended a special Saturday presentation where I was able to buy some women’s bike clothing at a special price. Really cool stuff and very comfortable. This shop isn’t just a bike shop — these owners want you to be comfortable with the bike you purchase, comfortable with the accessories so you will actually wear them/ride your bike. Gotta love it. I highly recommend this location.

Pittsburg and Antioch have very few bike shops, and was pleasantly surprised to find these guys a week or so ago. They carry a perfect mix of entry level kids bikes up to competitive road or mountain bikes. I used to head over the hill to Encina Bike in WC but can shorten my drive and shop here from now on. Great prices, great service, I’ll be back.

Took our bike in for a tune up and cleaning — The owners were professional and personable. Lots of bikes for sale big and small. Clean showroom Nice neighborhood Great Service Good Prices Downtown Pittsburg has never looked so good! Come over to buy a bike then stay for coffee a couple doors down or dinner at La Veranda, EJ Phair Brew Pub, New Mecca or hell, go walk by the beautiful Marina and eat at Nana’s Café. Lots to do now in Old Town Pittsburg.

A super-friendly, full-service bicycle shop in Pittsburg? I never thought I’d live to see the day! I first spotted the store during the Pittsburg Twilight Criterium in May. I’ve shopped the store a few times since. They carry a wide selection of new Giant bikes and even Raleigh and Dahon. If you’re deal hunter, you’ll likely find a few pre-2011 bikes at a great price. If you’re in the market just for accessories, definitely stop by the shop. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the selection you’ll have to choose from.
