We «accidentally» found this place on Unilocal. We’re both Germans who immigrated 8yrs ago and of course we had to give it a try! Well, I know it’s Czech and not German, but some foods are similar like the schnitzel. We tried some other restaurants before that cooked schnitzel as well and it was usually only an «ok» experience. This place is amazing! The schnitzel are perfect like you would find them in any restaurant in Germany. The spätzle are handmade and delicious as well. Gulasch, stroganoff and the dumplings are very authentic and we haven’t eaten any better in the Czech Republic before. The atmosphere could be better, it’s just plain and simple but the service and food are outraging! If you like to try something new, or want to eat good homemade European food then give it a try! It would be very sad to see this place not surviving! We definitely will be back! German approved! And who knows Germans, they’re very picky

I had a wonderful meal. The chicken schnitzel was moist with a golden, crispy crust. The potato pancakes with smoked salmon were equally delicious. The service was kind and gracious. I was dining alone and yet felt welcome and comfortable. Thank you for a wonderful meal. I will definitely return.

Awesome spatzle and paprikash like you can find in Europe. Lovely patio with lots of flowers, and very attentive service.

Nice spot! Sat outdoors and enjoyed a good lunch. Seemed a little short-staffed, but the waitress was pleasant.

I have been yelled at by the owner in the parking lot on 2 separate occasions even though I was using the parking lot appropriately. She judges and stereotypes and is incredibly rude to potential guests and because of this I will never try Euro Bistro.

This restaurant offers fabulous home cooked Czech inspired food and European meals that are hearty, satisfying and unique in a really good way. Save room for dessert as they have mastered the custard tart and so much more. Service is excellent and fast; environment is casual and welcoming; well behaved four legged friends are welcomed on the patio with a fresh bowl of water.

Discovered Euro Bistro just yesterday, when looking for a place to share a birthday lunch with a couple of girlfriends. We walked along Main Street and almost passed it by, but the delicious aroma lured us in! A quick peek at the menu showed several vegetarian options available, and that sealed the deal for us. We enjoyed the outdoor seating, attentive(but not annoying) service, and great variety of menu selections. Czech beer on draft, tasty salads, hearty mushroom and spinach crepes, potato pancakes, and(for the carnivore in the group, me) yummy beef and cabbage rolls with spaetzle, plus delicious desserts, were all happily devoured by our little group. I found the portions very nicely sized, and pricing quite reasonable for the quality and homemade taste. I couldn’t believe the place wasn’t more crowded than it was; I sincerely hope the proprietors are finding success in this location. What a great option for dining in Placerville! I will definitely be going back soon. Too many enticing things on that menu to try in one visit. Highly recommended. Yum!

Bottom line is this place is excellent! There’s nothing like coming home from a day of boarding at Heavenly and grubbing on so e good hearty Czech food. I got the roasted duck and good sides which included some type light roll that was so tasty! The beer selection on draft is awesome and good enough to go for just that! I would def recommend to anyone!

This place was ! Super scrumptious food! I got the chicken jäger schnitzel with mushroom sauce and spätzle. The chicken was tender, crisp and juicy, perfection! Best spätzle I’ve ever had! It was seasoned with onions, ham and parsley. Husband got the beef stroganoff with spätzle the sauce was hearty and flavorful. It was all so delicious! We will be coming back here. Great stop on the way to or from the slopes.

I am so glad we finally tried Euro Bistro. Wonderful, friendly service by the owner. When our dinner arrived it was so much food I almost wished I had skipped the bread and soup(which was borscht, and very tasty). Huge! portions of schnitzel perfectly cooked and served with delicious spätzle. A half duck was delivered with three sides. Really looking forward to going back and trying more delicious treats and lots more Czech beer.

On my recent trip back up to Carson City NV. from the Bay Area, I stopped in Placerville, as I had seen on Unilocal,a Euro style restaurant. I’m always interested to see what Euro style restaurants have to offer. Also, I haven’t seen the old town area of Placerville. I’ve only seen what most people see, just what’s right by the freeway. Visiting mid week, parking isn’t a problem, but there is a 2 hr limit on street parking, so watch your time as I saw the meter service girl walking her beat. Euro Bistro, serves mainly Czech and German cuisine. Some of the foods are similar to Russian, but no borscht here, but they do have beef strogonoff and goulash on the menu. Outdoor dining is available as well, but it was too hot so we sat inside. The AC wasn’t on, so that was sort of on the warm side too, good thing I had shorts and a short top on. I came with a friend I from the Bay Area. We start with just water to drink as we browse the menu. I see crepes, appetizers and salads and a variety of entrees, from Schitnizel to Lamb Chops to Roast Duck. The roast ½ duck($ 21.50) perked my interest, but they were out. oh poo! We decided to start with an appetizer of the Fried Mushrooms($ 8.00) followed by entrees for my friend of the Chicken Paprikash($ 12.75) and for me the Jagerschnitzel($ 12.75). These were lunch portions, but ended up being plenty of food. The fried mushrooms arrive in short order. I’m not sure these fried mushrooms are particularly Euro or not, but the generous garlic flavored breading made these quite tasty. They were served with a house made tarter sauce. You get 7 big mushrooms, see pic. Our lunch entrees are served with soup or salad. My friend got a salad and I had the soup of the day, a beef barley. My soup was definitely house made and had a hearty robust beefy flavor. The salad was a pretty standard green salad served with her choice of ranch dressing. When our entrees arrive, it’s like, oh wow, that’s some good looking food. The Chicken Paprikash my friend ordered looked very nice laying in a orange paprikish cream sauce flanked with colorfully herbed spaetzel. My Jagerschitzel was a breaded flattened pork cutlet served with a mushroom gravy accompanied by spaetzel and clove infused red cabbage. My friend really liked her chicken dish as it was very tender and had a flavor I’d not tasted before, so YES, there’s some unique cooking going on here! My Schnitzel was very good as well, well flavored and sauced in a tasty mushroom sauce. The red cabbage was unique in that it was infused with the flavor of cloves. I’d never had this in red cabbage before and I really liked the unusual flavor if gave. The spaetzel I’d actually never had before. It’s sort of like thick short cut ropy pasta with some kinda of sauce and enhanced with a lot of herbs. My dish was German and the Chicken Paprikash was Czech I think. Overall, a very tasty and unusual lunch and reasonably priced for real cooked to order food with a European flair. The food I’d say, is more slanted towards the homey common folk cooking of Europe. I wouldn’t call it gourmet and innovative with the chef taking chances on his own ideas of food, but real down home cooking like you might find in Europe that people might eat everyday. Good solid flavors with the dishes executed well. The service was very friendly and accommodating. If you’re looking for something different here in Placerville, other than the standard American fare of burgers fries and steaks, this may be a good choice for you to try! I’m glad I did and will return, and hopefully they’ll have the duck to serve for dinner.

This little bistro is listed as Czech, but it tasted like German food to me. And it was awesome! It is hard to find good German or Czech food, but the food here is excellent. I had one of the daily specials, pork knuckle and it was as good as any I’ve had in Germany. The red cabbage was very good and not too tart, but the sauerkraut was very savory and excellent. The spaetzel was tasty, but just a little gummy but the pork knuckle was a winner. Cooked to perfection, moist and delicious. The portion was so big even for lunch, that I had to take most of it home. My husband ordered the stroganoff with spaetzel and it was very good, too. The stroganoff sauce very good. We can hardly wait to return. The menu and the daily specials all look fabulous. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes German food.

Found this hidden gem on Broadway in Placerville. I haven’t eaten here in all the years I’ve lived here. Euro Bistro doesn’t really describe this wonderful place. This restaurant is really Eastern Euro food. Had I known that I would have stopped in sooner. Me and the family came here for dinner tonight and we left full! So full we didn’t even attempt the fabulous looking desserts. We’ll come back for desserts next time. The portions were huge! The flavor and quality were excellent. Also the waitstaff was on top of our every need. We tried he Jäger schnitzel, Goulash and Slow Roasted Pork Shank. The dishes were perfect. We were also served Borsch soup as an appetizer and it was spot on. If you want some authentic Eastern European food the next time you are in Placerville give this place a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Absolutely love this place! The food is the real deal. Fresh, home made, warm deliciousness in your tummy. Had a bit of everything here and each item was special and delicious. I could taste the freshness of ingredients. The service was great. I believe the restaurant is owned by a Czech couple and they run it with love and it shows! The desserts are DIVINE! European beers that aren’t available anywhere else too. It’s nice to have a restaurant where the food isn’t cookie cutter and you can feel that there is love in every item they serve. The atmosphere is intimate and clean with some nice bohemian touches. We will definitely be back!

Amazing food! My husband got some kind of Pork meal(I’m not a big fan of pork myself but tried it and it was good) He Loved it! I had the Chicken Gyro with a side salad which was fabulous. The owner is the sweetest Lady, we had our 1 yr old son and she brought out some apples, soup and French fries for him which he loved. We were very satisfied and left very happy. Will be stopping by any time we are in the area or on our way to Tahoe. Highly recommend.

My husband and I have been looking for a restaurant close to home that serves good German food. This place hit the mark. My husband went back to his childhood memories of mom’s cooking. We will be back.

Love the new Czech restaurant in Placerville. Goulash was tender and saucy and the dumplings were dead on. The schnitzel was huge and the spaetzel was hearty. The strawberry strudel was really dense and flavorful, had it with ice cream but was unnecessary as it could easily stand on its own. I dropped a star because of the limited menu and non descript décor but the food is what will bring me back.

Meine großmütter(my grandmothers) were German, not Czech — but I still grew up on REAL goulash(not that hamburger/noodle crap), schnitzel, spätzle, dumplings, chicken paprikash and other regional dishes. Others have described the dishes. I’ll just add that the flavors are authentic, the portions generous, and the specials… special. This place deserves a large clientele and a prosperous life as one of the few authentically ‘ethnic’ restaurants on Main Street. Eat here. Often. PS: the pork shank special. Oh. My. God. Eat the sides, and whatever pork you have to, then save the rest for sandwiches or whatever. It is the most beautifully seasoned piece of meat I’ve run across. Eat it. I insist.

Folks… I’m very happy! This is real Czech food! So delicious! If you are on your way to Lake Tahoe, stop here. This is the authentic Czech cousine and is owned by Czech… I’m leaving now but I’m leaving with a huge smile on my face! Well done ladies! You and your restaurant rock!
