I called this morning looking for a specific bow for my son, which they had in stock. Drove two hours *both* ways and would do it again, it was so worth the drive! The owner, Don, spent nearly two hours setting up the bow for my son and took us upstairs for my son to try it out. Don was incredibly knowledgeable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. If you have any need for their goods or services, I would highly recommend them!

Went in for some 9 mm round and wound up purchasing a bow, arrows, and a bow case. A very friendly atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. I would definitely shop there again when in the area.

Every time I come in to check out the pistols, ask questions, and just get an idea of what is going on in the gun world, the guys are always happy to answer my questions, let me handle the guns, and advise on type, size, and use. I sold my mom’s Smith & Wesson thru them and it was painless. They told me what they would pay me to buy it directly or what I could get if I sold it thru them on commission. Very good advertising obviously as it sold within 4 months for right around what they said it would go for, and with their reasonable commission, I walked away with $ 150 more than I would have received if I had sold it directly to them. They were honest in letting me know that if I had patience, they could get me a better deal thru consignment. They also recommended a teacher for learning the basics thru advanced. I would definitely deal with them again.

These guys told me two to three weeks on my 3500 $ gun order. It took closer to five. They lied at every turn, but i understand things take longer than expected. When i got the gun home and look at it fully assembled, i found out it was a 30″ barrel. I ordered a 28″ barrel. Called the owner and he LIED to me and said they only make it in a 30″. Refused to help me get what i wanted. My advice is to drive further, get a gun at cheaper than msrp somewhere else from someone who is honest.

I have purchased some great products at this store. Don is AWESOME! Any questions I have had he did a great job answering it! With one of my purchases there was a mistake from the factory. When I told him about the problem he took it and had them send me the correct product quickly! I have referred people here and they have made some big purchases, everyone has been happy! I will be coming back here over and over giving them my money Never can have too many toys right!?!

I’ve purchased guns here before, but today I was completely ignored. I stood at the counter looking at a rather bleak assortment of guns(mostly .22 rifles). One guy walked by and asked how I was doing as he passed by, but didn’t stop to assist me. Two other employees looked at me a few times, but were apparently busy doing other, more important things. I finally just left.

Love this place. Staff is welcoming, and always friendly. I drive down from Lake Tahoe to purchase my firearms here, simply because our gun shop is terrible! The mosquito creek staff has earned my business for a long time to come. While they may not have the biggest selection, if you know what you are looking for they are always willing to find you what you need at a reasonable price. On site gun smith is a plus, always willing to let you pick his brain. Often times they are very busy(and for good reason) but they try to accommodate everyone in a timely manner.

This is what a true sporting goods store is supposed to be. Yes, their prices are not going to be able to match chain stores like Wal Mart, Cabela’s, etc, but if you think that, then you probably shouldn’t be in a store like this anyways. They are helpful, knowledgeable and they carry quality stuff. They can be competitive on pricing too. I have been waiting for a store like this in Placerville for years. I try and buy everything sporting goods related from them. If it is a difference between saving a couple pennies or going to these guys’, I buy from them every time and so should you.

I received some great customer service here when I came in with a broken bow string. Archery manager Joel was super knowledgable and gave me the honest scoop on how to repair my existing bow. I ended up purchasing a nice new bow and they got it all up for me in just about an hour. He even gave me some treat tips on form so I can shoot better! When it comes to archery, hunting and fishing supplies this family owned business scores high in my book. Buy local! Juliann E

Very friendly staff! I went in looking for ammo. With so much ammo scarce these days its so very hard to find Winchester long rifle 22’s. Of course they were out but I was told that 10 boxes were coming in a few days from now and its first come first served. Okay… now the clock is ticking… and I missed out. Boooo. Parking is tight.

My quest for a replacement for my Remington 870 shotgun continues. Figured I’d pop in here for a look around on my way home from work yesterday. I was quickly greeted at the entrance, and asked if I needed help. I thanked the employee and said I was just looking around. I walked back to the busy gun counter, and looked up and down the line. My initial impression was that there wasn’t much of a selection to choose from. I saw a new Remington 870, and one or two break-action trap guns and that was about it as far as shotguns go. It appeared that they had more firearms on display in their pickup/gunsmithing section than they did on sale. I understand it costs a lot of money to stock a big selection of guns, but the other retailers in the area I visited easily had twice the selection of guns. Maybe the money that could have been spent on stocking firearms was spent on the big, flashy building and the fly-fishing stuff on the other side of the building. I should remind myself, that this establishment isn’t a «gun store» per se. They’re a firearms-friendly sporting goods retailer. As such, they look to be a good place to shop if you need that kind of thing. I was again asked if I needed any help, and thanked the employee and said«no» and went on my way. I left with the impression that the place was a bit too upscale for my simple, utilitarian needs.

I really like this place. They have good quality product and a wealth of knowledge to back it up. It reminds me of what REAL sporting good stores were like when I was younger– where the people who worked there actually knew something about fishing and hunting and were eager to share it with you. When I asked about a bow for my son, they asked me to bring him in so he could shoot a few of them and make sure he liked them before I purchased anything… When I asked about fishing, they told me some places to go with the kids where’d I’d be sure to have a great day. I hope this local business succeeds, because they are such a notch above the chain store competition. The only thing I didn’t like is that my wife found a lot of things she wanted and ended up spending way more money than I did in the store– I’ll just leave her at home next time I go.
