Pro’s: Great beer list, good bar atmosphere, decent specials(food and drink), and a parking lot to park in. Oh, and tator tots. Con’s: Service and food. The two most important aspects of a restaurant. I’ve been here numerous times, and have no doubt I’ll return. Since there are several Tap House Grills, it’s a name people are familiar with, and therefore lean towards when deciding where to dine. Though my preference would be to struggle with parking and wait out a reservation at Sovereign, I get the need for familiarity. That said, I can’t say I’ve been impressed with anything here — with the exception of the donuts we ordered off the dessert menu. The burger I had was just ok, the appetizers have mostly been just alright, and the final straw was my last visit — when the buffalo chicken wrap I ordered was a mushy mess. It had clearly been sitting in it’s own pool of sauce for 10+ minutes, because by the time it got to me, the wrap was falling apart. Of course, our server was nowhere to be found — so I chose to eat what I could of the insides(which included, of course, soggy lettuce). I would suggest you fight the crowds and the difficult downtown parking and head over to any of the other local restaurants. Sometimes, what is familiar isn’t always best!

This place jumped the shark. Good was crap. Beer was good. Server was on drugs. Filthy menus and bathrooms. Too bad.

So I had no problem until tonight, my friends and myself had a couple drinks and asked for one more after my one friend had three and she cut her off even tho she wasn’t driving. And then had the nerve to cut us all off for no reason. Even tho the people people behind us were more reckless. And had the nerve to bring our checks we were not loud or pissing anyone off. I highly recommend not to go there. It’s Saturday night and she was out of line. If I could give it a –5. Very very very disappointed with her and place, will never go there again highly highly highly recommend not going there if you want to have a good time this place isn’t for you…:…mic drop… goodnight Plainfield!

Went there tonight for the 1st time. Appetizers were the Pork nachos, I would give them 3 ½ stars as the flavor was there, but the pork wasn’t warm, and probably came straight from the warming table. We also had 5 of the mild buffalo wings, I would give them 4 stars for good flavor. Entrée… did not goes as good… ordered the stuffed burger, and the prime Rib on pretzel bun… 1st the Prime Rib. Would give it a 3 looked as though they sliced the Prime Rib like deli sandwich meat… this causes it to be dry and ehhh. 2nd was the stuffed burger. I would give it a 2, the flavor was good for the 2 – 3 bites I had until the toppings came off and I seen the raw/very undercooked meat. I informed our waitress(who agreed as she seen what I seen) and returned it and put a regular burger in its place. I would rate the regular burger a 3 ½. Now onto the reason this gets 3 stars, the staff. Our waitress was Jamie, she was excellent. They didn’t have a tap beer I wanted, and she suggested the Tangerine Wheat(excellent) she was at tentative and pleasent. We also encountered a gentleman(assuming manager) who came over while we were waiting on my replacement burger, apologized, and seemed sincere to the issue. The bar was a good change for us, and seemed like a good spot to watch a game and get good appetizers. Not sure if we will return, but is still an option.

Everything about this place has become just ok. The beer selection is fine, food is fine. No complaints but also no compliments. Service is usually on point though lately which is a plus. It’s a good place to bring a group.

Came here for the kid balloon drop on New Years Eve. Awful experience. It started at 4 and we arrived at 4. We were seated reasonably quickly. However we sat at our table for 30 minutes before we finally approached someone to ask if we had a server. Turns out we didn’t. The temporary server we got was extremely polite and apologetic. We gave her $ 5 just for stepping in and helping out even though we knew she was leaving soon. She then introduced us to another server who again was very nice and polite and apologetic. We ordered 2 drinks(vodka lemonade and bud light draft). They were out of bud light draft(on New Years Eve Night!? – how is that possible?) Whatever, give me a miller light then. We ordered pretzel sticks too. Our 4 kids finally were asked to step up and make their pizza. Now it’s about 4:45. At 4:50 we added to the order and asked for nachos and cheese curds. At about 5:15, one of my girls pizza came to the table. Where were the other 3?(Balloon drop is at 5:30). At 5:25 the other 3 pizzas came to the table(why 10 minutes apart?). My girls got up to stand under the balloons at 5:30 along with a ton of little kids. That all went ok… a little anticlimactic if you ask me. Oh well. At 5:45 our nachos and cheese curds have yet to arrive. Since we needed to leave by 6:00 because they had another kids seating at 6:30 so they needed time to prepare, we just cancelled the nachos and cheese curds and asked for the check. The waitress was pleasant and did apologize but the whole procedure was awful. It’s too bad because there are a lot of kids in the area and this could have been real fun for them. My kids thought it was ok at best but from an adult perspective, it was awful and poorly ran. Do it right if you’re going to do it. Otherwise don’t offer it! Two stars are only because the two waitresses were really nice, otherwise I’d give it a zero!

I would not recommend this location for quick service or group events/parties. For the last 3 years we’ve hosted a sizable pub crawl for Halloween in the downtown area. We have always began at the Tap House for food before our night of fun with our group. Our group started at 20 people and has since grown to 44 people this year dining at the Tap House. Large groups and rushes have tended to be a problem for this location and its kitchen. We began ordering off the menu in years past which lead to people getting food lightning fast or someone waiting forever. Never enough servers to keep it all together. I figured as the coordinator of this event that perhaps a one cost/per person catering option might be an ideal situation. In principle/theory/and contract everything was in place. Below is a copy and paste from my email to the management. «…First of all, there were 40 – 50 people attending, and we had seating for half of that. We requested the After Work Package for 40 – 50 people from 5:30−7. When I arrived a 5:35 we had a few people there, but no food in the chafing dishes. Food didn’t come out for another 10 minutes. As other people began showing up it, quickly began unraveling from there. Food was not ready in a volume to accommodate those eating. Wings came out in 2 pound increments to an empty pan for 40+ people. Quesadillas were simply a mess. I’ve never witnessed food carried out of a kitchen in a mixing bowl or on a plate and dumped in a tray at the buffet before. People paid money to have unlimited food available to them for 1.5 hours, with a 2 hour package cost, and most left hungry.» There was one server for all of us and she was clearly overwhelmed. She was great but short changed by management with support. The poor girl was being repeatedly sent to the kitchen seeking more food. At 6:30 food stopped coming out while we were there up until 7pm. I received emails from the manager at this location and another manager I had to involve due to a botched date and poor communication but was being assured they were ready for our group. They weren’t ready or even close to ready for a contracted event. I reached out asking for an explanation and nothing. I got an email that the location manager was no longer with the company… the other manager I was in touch with just stopped communicating and never offered an explanation. I could copy all of the correspondence but in the end it was poor customer service, poor follow up, poor delivery. Next year we will be taking all of our business elsewhere. There are plenty of great Downtown Plainfield restaurants and bars that will welcome you and take care of your needs. I would recommend looking into them.

Edit, 11⁄15 Grr, went again, ok service, ordered a sandwich(BLT again), portion got smaller, which is not good, was small enough before. Server asked if I wanted to substitute side for a small salad I said yes,(and boy was it small, like a cup of lettuce), and found out later on bill we were charged extra for the substitution?! Did not know that, so once again, beer selection pretty decent, but they really like to keep the food portions really small, so if you are hungry, not the best place to go. Maybe we will just stick to grabbing a couple drinks here before we go somewhere else later to eat. I really don’t get the stinginess with the portions, I mean how much does it really cost to throw a few more tater tots or leaves of lettuce on a plate, beer and booze is where places like this make profits? and I’m not a big greedy eater, so it can’t just be me.

Here yesterday for lunch with the wife. Not crowded for a Sat. Thought the bar may be full of college football fans but that wasn’t the case. Maybe folks were enjoying the weather. Sat at the bar, Frank waited on us. Was a very nice man, gentleman. Obviously Hes well traveled, had lots of interesting dialogue, & a fair knowledge of beer. Service was gr8. Sampled several beers while watching the ballgame on tv. Needed an afternoon out w/the wife. Eventually we ordered appetizers & had the pretzel rolls . They were light, soft but had a lil crunch to their crust. Excellent, along w/the Merkt’s cheese & mustard! Yum yum! Coupe of more frosty’s & we settled on entrees. Wife had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap which was messy, she reported.(aren’t wraps always a mess?) but good! I had the Philly Burger & was disappointed. Ive had burgers there before & while the Kobe is quite good the regular burger or whatever meat is used thats not Kobe is always underwhelming. I had not been to Tap house for awhile and had forgotten this fact. Cheese was so so & the green peppers didn’t have any flavor just like the burger. However despite my disappointment with the burger, there are other solid food choices here along w/good service & plenty of good beer selections. Solid place

The pretzel roll is where it’s at people. Pretzel. Roll. I’ve seen Tap House Grills around Chicagoland(I believe they have about 8 locations), but last month was my first time stopping in. It was my dad’s birthday and my family loves a good deal, so we came for dinner for their $ 5 burger special on a Tuesday night. Tap House has an extensive food menu with a good variety of options. For those folks who are gluten free, they’ve got you covered. Choosing a burger was hard because they all sounded absolutely delicious. I ended up going with the bacon and blue cheese mushroom burger because well… pretzel bun. This beauty is certified Angus beef topped with crumbled blue cheese, peppered sugar bacon slices, and sautéed mushrooms, all on top of said pretzel bun. A-maz-ing. You get your standard choice of fries, tator tots, or side salad. To be quite honest, my mind is always saying«better get the salad Jacqueline!» but my body is programed on auto pilot to go with the tots. So I did. Plus, when you’re downing a burger with bacon and a side of beer… might as well go all in. Speaking of beer, they have a great selection. My dad, grandpa, and myself indulged in a Three Floyds Gumballhead(or two) and my mom had a glass of wine. Our waitress was nice, but we did have to hunt someone down for silverware and menus when we were first seated which wasn’t ideal. It was packed on this Tuesday night, which I’m sure is because of the car show downtown Plainfield. Mind you, the car show happens every week so I’m not sure why the staff was acting like they were swamped for the first time ever. It’s a great local bar and grill… surely they’ve been busy before! All in all, I enjoyed my meal and experience. I definitely won’t hesitate to stop by again or visit another location.

Ok, we tried it again and there were good and bad points. The beer list was excellent, they had Bourbon County on tap and 3 or 4 Three Floyds along with some other great beers. The cheese curd app was hot and yummy as were my tater tots. Our server, Preston, was a good guy, knowledgeable about beer and just fun. However, he had way too many tables and they were running him ragged. My burger sucked! It was teeny tiny, burnt(I ordered it medium) and had very few topping for $ 11.69. Because I’m a pain I did tell Preston and he immediately said they’d take it off our bill. But, my hubby ordered the THG Stuffed burger and it was pathetic too. I will never order another burger there but will go for Preston, beer, curds and tots. It was super loud in there too, we couldn’t hear across the table… that was a big negative too.

Fried bacon was great, burgers outstanding, and they had a special for first time visitors with a free appetizer coupon and $ 10 off your next visit. Went back and had another fantastic meal. Beer selection was huge, drink specials were nice as well. Seemed like those who were there for parties were having fun too. We’ll be back for sure.

Great service, yummy food, and when we(my husband and I) brought our dads here on Father’s Day, the meals were free! We had no idea, but when the server brought the check, she said, «you’re dads so your meal is on us!» What a nice way to end Father’s Day! Beer menu is great and so are the fried pickles. Black bean burger, yum :) Definitely check this place out for great beer selection and yum food.

I went in last night with a group of coworkers around 6:30pm. We were quoted a 20 minute wait but got seated after about 10 minutes. It was Ladies Night so there were a few specials for us girls. I started with the bruschetta, but I was not impressed. It was 5 pieces of hard bread drizzled with balsamic and it was mostly a salad of cucumbers, celery and tomatoes. It was topped with 1 scoop of goat cheese that wasn’t even enough to use on 3 pieces of bread. I also got a cup of the beer cheese soup and that was great-I should have skipped the bruschetta and just got a larger bowl of soup. For dessert it was $ 3 any dessert so we got a brownie sundae and the homemade kit kat. The brownie was pretty good but the kit kat was fantastic! Everyone loved it. I’ve eaten other things here before and it’s always just an ok experience. It wasn’t my choice to eat there and I could have named a bunch of places I preferred but I will go back when others choose it. I didn’t get a Bloody Mary this time but I’ve had them before and they’re pretty good. Service was ok-our waitress was friendly and nice but took awhile to bring us anything, especially the check.

I used to go to the Tap House Bar & Grill when there was one on Finley Road in Downers Grove. In fact, I rented space out often for corporate gatherings/parties/employee morale. I also rented space for after work socializing with friends at that same location. The food was always great and the service phenomenal. In fact, my job requires me to cater food almost weekly for meetings and we use a lot of restaurants for meeting space cand entertainment. I have no budget either… take note Tap House Mngmnt. You never know who walks in. Never judge the book byvits cover ;) I have been living in Plainfield for a while and always wanted to stop into this location because of the above, but until today, I had never gotten around to it. So today, Tuesday 6÷2÷15, I happen to finally stop in to try this location and pump some money into the community vs Downtown Naperville because Downtown Plainfield needs to step it up and stop with all the politics. Well… i have to say that the food was really great but the hostess was not as friendly &; warm as she should be. And… our waitress… one of the worst services ive yet received. It was absolutely rediculous. There were 3 if us… We ordered 2 appetizers and 1 burger… she took our order at 7:15pm and we received our 2 apps at 8:20pm… our burger came out 25min later after I asked her to make sure they came together. She brought 3 drinks to the table at 7:20pm and came to ask about refills at 8:45pm. She did not give us silverware and I had to ask for them after she brought the 2 apps and walked away. I also had to ask for ketchup & mustard when our burger arrived. We spent approx 2hrs on a Tuesday night to eat a simple little dinner. It’s a work night and staff should be more efficient. To boot, I had left over chicken tenders and I asked her for some«to go sauce» and she had the nerve to charge me .50 cents for it after all her goof offs! It should have been given for free! Because I’m a nice person, and though I shouldn’t have tipped her, I still left her a $ 5.00 tip bc im sure she has kids to feed. She should not be a waitress. This place has a lot of room for training and improvement.

Served our beers right away. Totchos were delicious, first time ever having them! Beer cheese soup was perfect as well, will be back for more! ! Enjoyed the chicken melt and patio chicken wrap. The chicken melt was crispy and delicious. Great food, funny waitresses, and great selection of beers, will be back.

I love coming here when i can get the time, the job, wife and kids preclude me from getting the opportunity often. If you want a place to sample and experience tons of Micro beers, this is the place, and if you get hungry and aren’t into ‘bar food’ this is also the place.

Well, majority of the menu consists of items you cook in a deep fryer. Including bacon. Battered and deep fried bacon. IT’S GOOD. But I don’t know how much you can really eat of it without having to concern about your health. The beer menu looks awesome. Lots of TV’s. The restaurant is just a giant room with lots of TV’s around the perimeter. The place is OK if you like fried food but I can find cheaper and better fried food elsewhere.

There was a problem which is why a 3 star… Ashley our waitress forgot our food for 20 min. Yes 20 min I sat with an empty beer glass and no food. However it gets worse… The burgers we ordered were left under the warming area of the kitchen. So when we finally got them the lettuce was totally wilted and soft. The fries just warm and not hot and the bottom bun was soaked with meat juice because it sat so long. Such a disappointment because the burgers here are awesome! I brought someone and this was their first experience of tap house. I expect better service to go with the good food. So, yes food is always good here but service today with Ashley was terrible. I type this as I’m waiting now for 8 min with empty table and no bill has arrived yet… Common!!! Clock is still ticking… Did this chick take two breaks in the same hour? Edit — — - — update — — - Both me and my Co worker sick after 2hrs. Beware! 01÷07÷16 **** Here with my wife. She ordered fish tacos and picked out 11 fish bones. Yup! Another fail by Tap House
