After going to Jerry’s Artarama in Hartford for years and tired of putting up with incompetent staff, I tried Dick Blick.
I arrived in a bit of a foul mood because of a project deadline. I was dismayed by the young staff behind the counter, thinking that he was too young and would not be able to help me. Boy, was I wrong. He was knowledgeable, helpful & made some suggestions which ended up saving me hours of time.
Today was my 5^th time back and I continue to be amazed and grateful for such great service. The staff is amazing! Every person who works there is knowledgeable and goes out of their way to be helpful. Prices are good & I appreciate the teacher discount.

My whole day was made at Blick’s today! A most patient and knowledgeable young salesman, Brian, made my shopping experience easy and so pleasant! I’m just beginning my acrylics studio and Brian’s guidance, bolstered by his own experience as a painter, led me to make wise choices in an easel, paints, brushes, etc. He was conscious of the cost: quality ratio in a very personable and professional manner.
When I completed my selections, another customer was gleaning information from Brian. The manager, Cassandra Baez, stepped in and helped me. She checked the just arrived order for an item because there were none on the shelf! Above and beyond! We chatted as she carried my easel out to my car, furthering my extremely pleasant experience.
Dick Blick carries an amazing amount of art supplies for all ages and levels of experience. Their prices are very reasonable, and I also caught a great sale on several of my items. My completed purchase came with a sweet coupon for a future visit. And there will be future visits! You can order online, but despite the half hour or do drive, I’ll go back to the store to benefit from the staff’s expert advice and super friendly service. I think this may be my new candy store!

Great selection and friendly, knowledgable staff. On my recent visit, I called with some questions before I went and the employee, Kelly, was very helpful and patient. When visited, the salesperson, Patrick, was very attentive. He spent probably 20 minutes helping explain products and find all the supplies I needed for my project. He even brought out a demo they happened to have of the airbrush gun I was considering. I’ve never airbrushed before and without his help I would have bought the wrong products for my needs. The art supplies are great! They are outstanding quality but are a little pricey. I wouldn’t recommend going here unless you have a lot lot of money to spend.

Bad customer service. Do not order large yardage paper. Measured approx 5 ft small. They can’t send me the missing amount. They also refuse to send me a roll and let me cut of what I am missing and return the rest. I have one student in class who is missing their paper. The only way to get supply’s needed is to order another roll at a discount. Still a $ 100.00 a roll !! That’s bad business Blick. You mess up and now all the extra work and cost is on me.

Art Heaven. Most items available for the novice or pro. Staff very helpful. Occasional sales and discount program. Very good selection of picture frames, reasonably priced.

Dick Blicks has everything you need to get crackin on your art projects. I stopped in to pick up some sketch pencils and a pad, and while browsing the isles I couldn’t believe the assortment of things Blicks had to offer. A room completely devoted to sketch pads and canvases is found toward the back of the store. Isles of paints, colored pencils, pens and other items to aid in your projects are stocked full of anything you could possibly need.
I think the most important part of this stores success is the awesome staff working at Blicks. I was immediately assisted upon entering the store, and all my questions were answered. Art supplies can be extremely expensive if you don’t know what you need. Not everyone needs top of the line stuff, so having someone there to guide you through the ins and outs of Blicks products was so helpful!
Added bonus: Blicks offers workshops on all kinds of artsy stuff, so call the store for a schedule!

Can be a bit tricky to find exactly what you’re looking for, but the staff is knowledgeable and willing to help you find exactly what you need, (only if you ask for help though, they’ll let you walk around like a little mouse in a maze just trying to find the cheese unless you ask for assistance). Good location and parking, some great coupons too.

Awesome store… inspiring actually. Was in a pinch with a school project. The guy there was really patient, knowledgeable and helpful.

Great art supply store. I love the vast array of painting supplies especially the starter painting kits. Water colors, acrylics, oils they have it. They even have supplies for tie dyeing. I would have liked someone to ask if I needed help, but at least the store is neat and organized.

Dick Blick, this place is great, but whatup with the name? Makes me giggle every time I say it. You can check out their website to see if they have what you need and get a price for it too. Very convenient place to buy all of your art supplies and things you didn’t even know you needed. They also give great advice over the phone.
