Always amazingly fresh and excessively large portions. I took my mother for the first time and she was crazy with delight. She had the sandwiches and soup and I had the trio salad platter. Delicious.

The food is amazing! The only complaint I have is that the serving sizes are never the same. One day a trio is enough for three days and the next maybe a day and a half. Also depending on who is working the to go counter you may or may not get a muffin or roll when you order a side salad. It’s very frustrating.

The manager or guy that was there was awesome! Very friendly and pleasant to my boyfriend and I! We regularly visit café max in Richardson but live closer to this one, he let us know the hours and menu and was just a nice guy. Definitely will come back! My boyfriend LOVES the blackened chicken Caesar salad and I am and will always be obsessed with the trio; Caesar salad, pasta, and chicken or fruit!

It was like going to Tom Thumb deli and paying way to much. For lunch it was way over price. $ 10 for a small sandwich and a salad. Well it is in Plano. This would never make it in Dallas. Now the food. I was ok. I mean it’s not that hard to make a turkey sandwich. Was not offered a choice of bread did even know I had a choice till after the sandwich was made. The salad I had the pasta salad. The pasta was over cooked and had way to much mayonnaise in it. That’s why it’s made with olive oil and not mayonnaise. My drink well you can’t go wrong with water. Will I be back I would say no. I would rather go to Tom Thumbs deli.

Yummy to the yum-yum! Super friendly staff. Very clean. Amazing prices. Huge quantities served(yeah for leftovers). Definitely go with the salad sampler(gets you some of all 8 salads).

Had seafood salad and tortilla soup. Both are very good. Only thing is they are overpriced. Soup and salad for two rang up $ 25.

One of the best places for different types of salads I have ever been to date. The seafood, pasta and chicken salad is my typical salad trio. If I am feeling like a Caesar I really enjoy theirs with the chicken salad on top. Highly recommend this place to anyone wanting good salad options. PS…the portions are huge and a great value for the money!

I frequent the Richardson location quite a bit and was surprised/disappointed by the difference in taste/quality between the two. I ordered a blackened chicken Caesar salad, and the chicken was tasteless, very dry, and had an odd smell… as though it was grilled on a surface that wasn’t thoroughly cleaned? I can’t pinpoint it. All I know is that it was unappealing and I picked it out of my salad. I may give it another try, but it’ll be a while.

Best place for salads. I always get the salad sampler which consists of : 1.Chicken salad(they make it with no mayo, it has apples & pecans) YUMMY& low fat! 2.Pasta salad 3.Seafood salad 4.Fruit salad 5. Cucumber salad 6. Vegetable salad(carrots, squash & zucchini) 7. Caesar salad 8. Potato salad And a free carrot muffin. All for $ 8.35! This place makes most of their salads without mayo except pasta & seafood. Really unique. There’s also quiches & soups & sandwiches

If you’re craving for healthy food, I would suggest coming here. They have the trio sampler in which you can select 3 items on the menu to try. My ultimate favorite is the Chicken salad! They are known for this dish. It’s not just any regular chicken salad. Taste really good for leftovers. Left it in my fridge once and when I opened the fridge door, the smell of it was delicious. Their muffins are pretty good especially the zuchinni muffins. Liked it so much I made some at home. They do catering and also have a to-go ordering side. Just check their hours before arriving since they close pretty early.

Yeah… no! Verified they don’t use gloves when preparing sandwiches. Not cool! 2 stars for their portion size.

Huge portions! Wow! I couldn’t believe how much food the dude was piling up on the plate. I had the Trio, Ceasar Salad, Chicken Salad and fruit. I could not eat it all and I’m a big fat guy! The Chicken salad stole the show though, very nice light yet rich deep flavor. It had really nicely sliced chicken, red/green peppers, pears, cilantro and pecans. Very tasty. All the ingredients look very fresh

Went here cause of their 4-star Unilocal rating and was underwhelmed. First impression upon walking in was that of a a Hospital cafeteria. The décor is bland and there is no music or anything else to give it any sort of distinct ambiance. Ordering is also just like a cafeteria, you grab a tray and select from a bunch of pre-made salad options. I went with the salad sampler to try out the 8 different kinds of salad offered. One positive for this place was the man who served the salads, he was extremely friendly and upbeat. After grabbing some silverware and paying, we grabbed our seats and tried the food. Overall, I’d rate the food as mediocre. Six of the salads were just decent and the other two were not very good, to the point that I left both of them uneaten outside of a couple bites. The veggies and fruit in the salads were of decent quality, but the meat tasted similar to what you’d find in a frozen dinner. None of the salads stood out to me and I would be hard pressed to think of a reason that someone would come to this place over the many other sandwich/salad options in the Plano area.

I’ve been going to café Max for over 15 years. I know the portion size and exactly how salad should look. This time the chicken was soupy wet and the portion was significantly smaller. I called and asked what was up and was told, yes, they have changed portion to ‘normal’ amt because they were giving too much. He also said someone else complained chicken too dry… so maybe they overcompensated. Ok, I’m paying over ten dollars for salad… there better be enough. Also, if they aren’t consistent I won’t continue to go. I will go back one more time, and if portion smaller and food not consistent I won’t return. Btw in all these years I’ve only called one other time many years ago when the seafood salad tasted different/off. And neither occasion did they offer to make it right… the managers just say ok Thankyou for your info and we will look into it and that’s it. If a business can tell you are a faithful customer because you can remember back to when they had their first store all those years ago… offer to make it right for crying out loud. I have really become intolerant of businesses who are not customer first.

I went here today and got the sandwhich plate .It came with a side of your choice of salad.(I got pasta salad). Then I saw the lady make my ham and swiss sandwhich with her bare hands NOGLOVES. I immediately told her to put gloves on and she then re-made my sandwich . This place is so overrated. People must like eating dirty food with nasty employee hands

Café max is great! I went here on a whim one day when I was sitting at home wishing for something«fresh» for lunch. I picked up a chef salad for my hubs and a trio for me — I should have known by the weight of the bag this was going to be a crazy amount of food, but when I got home and we unpacked the bag. Oh my… gosh. SOMUCHFOOD. Seriously. The pasta salad is pretty much addicting. I’ve been back quite a few times since my first visit and the quality is always good and the staff is super nice. If you haven’t been here — what are you waiting for? Warning for my fellow cilantro haters: They put cilantro in the tomato cucumber salad AND in the chicken salad so be aware!

I love Café Max. I have a craving resistance of about two weeks, then I have to have it again. When I do, I usually get the Trio with seafood, chicken and pasta. I like to eat the pasta together with the seafood. The seafood is really just fake crab and mayo with a hint of dill. The pasta is the same way, very basic and mayo-y. The chicken has something in it that I can’t quite make out, but it is so addicting. The ingredients I can see are red apples, green bell peppers, pecans, pears and a bit of cilantro with a light, slightly sweet dressing. Because they give you so much for $ 10, I usually can only eat a small portion of it. You can help yourself to to-go boxes by the drinks. I always have enough for at least four more helpings, which means I am eating it for a few days. The service is always very courteous and the location is convenient, near the Tollway, with plenty of parking. Café Max is kinda chick food, but there are still plenty of dudes that go. If you’re a chick and you haven’t gone, then you’re missing out. If you’re a dude and you haven’t gone, then your chick is missing out. Go enjoy.

Trio! Where do I start? I’ve been coming to Café Max ever since I first discovered their location off Wiley Post and Midway. There’s so much food! You get a roll or a muffin with your order. I suggest the muffin – it’s like spice bread. They also have a spiced iced tea that is yummy! Key note-CASH or CHECK. They don’t take the plastic. They also have quiche and soups and sandwiches. I am such a fan of their salads – esp the Caesar, Fruit and Chicken… haven’t found a chicken salad like this anywhere. It’s like crack.
