Chicken Express

The chicken is juicy. Like it.

Love the chicken here. This was one of my favorite places to go back in college, so it’s nice to get some close by. They usually give you more than you ordered, so there’s some added value in that.

I was hungry for fish in cornmeal. My husband said he’d had some at Chicken Express in Allen recently and it was really good. What we got at this location was very mediocre. The okra was old tasting and the hushpuppies way over cooked. And they don’t have real lemon, only juice packets. Ah well. Lesson learned. Want fish, don’t go to a chicken place. Oh, the kids working the drive thru were very nice.

Each star goes for the huge and fresh chicken tenders, flavorful fries, and amazing glazed rolls. Disappointed by the lack of a kids menu including no drink offering but sodas, tea, fruit punch and lemonade. I have a feeling the constant «now hiring» sign on the marquee is due to the minimal training the 17 and 18 year olds staffing the place (many are/​were my students!). Lots of confusion at register with coupons, substitutions, etc. The interior is generic, but gets packed at lunch and only one bathroom per gender can cause a backup. The driver-​thru is always busy!

Have been to this location several times, but tonight was very disappointing.
I ordered fried chicken and livers. Instead if frying the liver fresh like they always do, they gave me old, dried, nasty ones that I had to throw away. They didnt told me to wait 6 minutes to wait for them to fry.
I just realized when I got home. I was so angry when got home. Too bad it was too long of a drive otherwise I would’ve made a big stink.
They just want to shove their old stuff to the customer at the end of the shift.

This is a great place to get some fabulous chicken strips. I ordered a 3 piece Chicken Strip meal with slaw, biscuit, and fries. When I ordered the 3 piece, they actually gave me 4 pieces. I was in HOG heaven.
The chicken was really, really hot and fresh. The whole meal was very good! I thought when I ordered the 3 piece meal that it was a bit pricey. When I received my order I noticed that they had given me a 4^th piece. This was great, and made me feel like I had gotten a better deal. Food was top notch!
Would I go again, Heck ya!

Staff doesn’t know their own menu. They will sit and argue with you over what you’re trying to order when you are reading word for word from THEIR menu. Instead of trying to work it out or ask someone who may possibly know what they’re talking about, they just keep arguing. I’d be surprised if they even realized they served chicken. And mediocre chicken at that.

This location is one the best ones I have been too. I live fairly close by and have stopped here in a quick pinch for lunch or dinner. The chicken is usually always fresh and if not you can always ask them for fresh. I have come literally near closing time and they cooked me fresh chicken. Nothing beats a chicken strip basket with gravy and mash potatoes.

My other go-​to place for some fried chicken. Wish there was one closer to west Plano so I wouldn’t have to drive 30 minutes for chicken though otherwise it’s great for when or if I’m ever in the east Plano area. Sweet tea was maybe TOO sweet?

If you are in the mood for some good fast chicken tenders this is the place! They are very generous with their portions! Order a 4 piece and get 7. If you are expecting a 5 course meal this place is not for you. It’s good fast food. Beware of the sweet tea, I always get half sweet, and half unsweet.

Food’s pretty good, but the inside of the store is unsettling. It smells like an old person’s house, that is, sort of weird and musty, with whiffs of cleaning solution. There are pictures of chickens hanging on the wall. The floor had a slightly sticky sensation as I walked across it. Otherwise it looks sanitary.
The portions are very generous for the price. The chicken is crispy on the outside and tender inside. The breading tends to be somewhat more breadlike than that of other chains like KFC or Cane’s. Their gravy is pretty bland (I speculate that the ingredients are nothing more than flour and water?) but there’s lots of great sides to choose from like corn nuggets and jalapenos.
The sweet tea is too sweet. It gave me diabetes.

Chicken tenders was great. If you like golden chick this place taste the same. They had teenagers working there, so i got lots of everything. 3 extra pieces of tenders, 3 rolls. I told the kid, the order was not mine, he said «You should go ahead take it, if we take it back we have to throw it away and remake your order.» There goes my diet! LOL!

Chicken was soooo good or I was just hungry. The chicken strips were of good size too. Didn’t have to deal with staff because it was brought it to the dealership we were buying a car.

A little pricey, I thought as I went thru the drive-​thru. I’ll give it a shot. I ordered a 4 piece strip meal with mashed potatoes and slaw. I paid and said,” this had better be worth it”. The pieces of chicken were Hot, Fresh, and Huge. Not only that they gave me an extra piece. They won my heart with that. KFC isn’t giving you a extra piece, EVER! The gravy was good, the chicken was excellent, and the slaw was good. Don’t have anything to say about the staff except (Thanks for the extra piece of chicken). Didn’t interact with them except for minimal drive-​thru experience.

food gets 5 stars for each time I’ve gone, but service gets 2 stars. I dunno if it’s just the Plano high school girls that are bitter their parents are making them work, but they are very stuck up. they have gotten new people recently, mostly guys, but I kindda wonder the last time they’ve showered. I only wonder this after the food has nicely settled in my tummy :)
as far as food goes, get extra rolls, they are to die for! eat them with the gravy & even some chipotle ranch sauce :)

Food gets 4 stars it’s always yummy! 2 stars comes from the staff. I think a requirement for working there is being rude & incompetent. There service is so bad I don’t want to even spend my money here. If you can tolerate people unnecessary attitudes & don’t mind being treated like someone’s problem then go for it, but for me the food isn’t worth the hassle with the morons who work there-​which I seem to encounter almost every time I try to give them another chance.

I had the fried chicken and it was excellent. Crispy on the outside, juicy and tender inside. Mashed potatoes and gravy not so hot. I like that you get to pick which pieces of chicken you get. I will be headed back to try the catfish.

I love this place. The chicken tenders and the chicken are fried to perfection. Their sweet tea is perfection. Nuff said! :)
