I typically eat at the bar and have had only good experiences. Today, Fathers Day, I was hesitant to go in due to the crowds, but did it anyway. After waiting 40 minutes for a table, I asked the hostess how much longer it would be. I was told, I was not on the list. I had a pager, but had been marked off the list. Okay, not a big deal, except for the total disregard for the waisted time. There was zero sense of urgency in getting us seated, more of a let me see and I will let you know attitude. Not the first time the service has been less than acceptable. I do not expect this to sway anyones decision to try Chuy’s, more that I am very disappointed and want to share my experience. They are always busy on Sundays, so it must say something about the restaurant, but I will find a different place next time…

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wrinkled my nose when someone asks if I want to go to Chuy’s. I apologize to each and every one of them. If for nothing else, come for the salsa. I don’t know what they put in it, and frankly I don’t care, but it must be some sort of magical superfood. I got chicken enchiladas with tomatillo sauce. The waiter warned me it was a sour cream sauce. Do people not like sour cream sauces? Odd. Coming back. And I apologize again. Tex-Mex is fantastic.

The only reason I give it a 3 is because the service was fast(especially for a Saturday dinner) and the server was good. They had two young ladies at the front desk that were smiling and attentive. With the restaurant being packed we(2people) got sat within 10min. The guy that served us was Dylan and he seemed fun and you could tell he enjoyed his job. The food=Meh. I wasn’t feeling most of the food and the rice seemed dry to me. The chips and tortilla are made fresh so that’s a plus. The Queso dip is probably the best thing we ate. We had the Pressley combo and the Chicken big as your face burrito again just Meh.

Loved the chikachika boom Boom enchiladas. It was the first time for my family to go & they loved it too! & Cody is one of the best servers I’ve ever seen! It was unbelievably busy & he never missed a chance to check on our table. Great service !

Those tortilla chips — so thin, crispy, not oily. Those signature sauces — especially the jalapeño one.(I would even go so far to say that the signature sauces are even better than the queso and guacamole!) These items alone might warrant a 5 star review. But the food itself is also delicious, affordable, and hugely portioned. So far this is my favorite tex mex place. I would definitely come again.

Food is not all that … I usually only go for the nacho bar. But the service is good and the staff is very attentive

Great service, food, and atmosphere. Zero complaints. Food was delicious. As a vegetarian, I really liked that options were clearly marked(not common in Texas), and when I asked for another dish to substitute meat with charro beans, had no difficulties doing so. So enjoyed a very fresh salad in a taco bowl with beans. My husband and father-in-law split the chicken fajitas for one(with extra chicken added, a great suggestion by our waiter). It came out sizzling, with incredibly fresh, homemade flour tortillas, a decent sized portion for the fajita toppings(pico, guacamole, etc.), and a mid-sized portion of rice and beans. The atmosphere is very eclectic and chill. The walls divide it slightly into separate sections, which gives it a slightly higher sense of privacy, while still feeling open. Now, the main reason this clenched five stars is because of the great service. Willy(William) W was fantastic. He was incredibly friendly, efficient, and provided great suggestions(like adding additional chicken to the fajitas since they were splitting, or substituting beans for meat, and putting on the side). In addition to everything good mentioned, it’s also decently priced, costing only $ 32(+ tip) for 3 that included sodas, split chicken fajitas, taco salad, and the free chips and salsa.

I was very surprised by Chuys. Having lived in San Antonio for more than thirty five years I have had every variety of Mexican and Tex Mex food that San Antonio offers. I of course have my favorites that no Dallas area restaurant has been able to compete with. In my opinion the best here would not stay in business for more than a week back home.(In most cases) So imagine my pleasant surprise that I really liked this Austin based chain location. Okay Austin does have some outstanding Mexican restaurants. Food quality was very good. The bar did a fine job. Our party of six received excellent service. I will return knowing that a good meal, strong drink, and friendly faces will be found. Thank you so very much.

Went here on a Sunday with some friends, it was oddly very busy for a Sunday night!(though spring break did just start around here so it might explain it). Big winner here is the food. The salsa is unique in that it’s very finely diced tomato and spices, but really has an excellent flavor, chips are good too. I love everything green chile, and they have some awesome green chile sauce. I got the Sunday special, a «macho burrito» that had shredded pork smothered in green chile sauce, it was the bomb! just the right amount of heat and flavor. One thing that could have been improved is the rice, it was actually seasoned unevenly, I got a spoonful of bland rice, the next spoonful was so heavily salty that I almost spit it out! Other than the rice, place is generally great. Love the green chile sauce and options, service is good, will return.

Big fan of Chuys ever since I first had it in Austin. Large portion sizes! I recommend the chile rellenos and the chicka chicka boom boom. Well, everything is amazing here so you can’t really go wrong with ordering! Chuy’s also has the best chips and queso ever. So creamy and flavorful. Lastly, they have amazing service. It’s a good place to bring the whole family for good Tex Mex.

Ever since the BF introduced me to Chuy’s back in our college days… this has always been my first choice for tex mex. To this day I still haven’t found another tex mex place I enjoy more. The queso is excellent and definitely has flavor. It’s really creamy and doesn’t harden very fast. They also feature a bunch of other sauces you can sample or have with your meal. Creamy jalapeño is probably the most popular. It’s basically a spicy ranch that you can dip with your chips, tacos, flautas, etc. Honestly you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. They have daily specials which features a unique dish for the day or whatever is in season especially when it’s hatch chili season. They offer 2 different kinds of rice, mexican is the standard but if you like something a bit more spicy you can always try the hatch chili rice which doesn’t cost extra to substitute. My personal favorites are the cheese enchiladas with the tex mex sauce, the chicken flautas, and the steak fajitas. They have the best happy hour! Half priced margaritas and a free nacho buffet!

I have been a big fan of Chuy’s since I first walked into the location in Houston, during grad school. This location does not disappoint. Great menu. Great service. My favorites are Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and Comida Deluxe; the latter always leads to leftovers, because it’s freakin’ gigantic. During their happy hours, they have a nacho bar with the usual fixings to include taco meat. My favorite trick there is to mix the queso and meat for a delicious dip…*drools* Finally, be sure to check them out around August during the hatch green chile festival when they have all sorts of great chile dishes(that’s where the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom was born)!

Been passing up Chuy’s for over a year. Thought it was just another Tex Mex joint with not a lot of spice. Much to my surprise. The place is awesome! For starters, they have a nacho cart. Totally complementary during happy hour. The chicken enchiladas were spicy! Our server was right on! With great suggestions for drinks and food.

We have been here several times for lunch and dinner. It is consistently excellent. It starts at the front door where we are always greeted like family. The table service is very attentive and friendly. We have tried several dishes on the menu and all of them have been very good. My wife loves tortilla soup and she says their is the best she has had in Texas. Same for the crisp tortillas. We are CA transplants and are very used to good Mexican food but TexMex is a bit different. Of all the places we have tried in a year and a half, we like this as one of the best. Currently, they are offering Hatch chili special menu items. Today I had the Bang Bang Burrito. Holy burrito, bring a friend, this this is huge. I brought half of it home in a box. Excellent flavor if you like it spicey! Funny, we had a chain of Chuy’s in California that are pretty hurtin. The logo is very similar, so we thought this one was part of the same group. It turns out this Chuy’s is a completely different group — in a good way! Check it out, I think you will like it!

After living almost a year in Texas, I felt it was time to give«Tex-Mex» a try. Chuy’s is near where I live, so Sunday after church I went to Chuy’s. The reviews were good so I came in with high hopes. As I stepped inside I was expecting a typical Mexican food restaurant but for my surprise it was nothing like it. It’s like a came to a classic American diner; it had old school Americana ornaments which were really cool and the place had a great vibe. Well I was fortunate to have Joseph as my waiter. He was great and really made my experience at Chuy’s awesome. He was really knowledgable with their food and he even say down with us to give us a salsa sampling. The food was great! Just the hand tortillas and boom boom sauce alone had me, they’re delicious. The chica chica boom boom enchiladas were amazing! Chuy’s made a new customer today :) The only I didn’t like much but won’t really complain and still give this place a 5 star is the Mexican rice.

We’ve pretty much avoided Chuy’s since a cilantro overdose event in the late 80’s. They ‘ve fixed that, but went the other way just a bit too far. Average chips paired with a salsa consisting of finely chopped tomatoes … and that’s pretty much it. No salt, no flavor, no dice. The chile rellenos(2) were good, plated well, enough spice. Margarita was ok.

For whatever reason, I was never interested in coming to a Tex-Mex chain restaurant, but hubby wanted to give it a try. Went early evening on a Saturday. We were told 10 minute wait time, I was surprised it was that short considering the amount of other patrons waiting too. But I don’t think we even waited a full 5 minutes, so that was good. We were seated in a very snug booth for 2 near the back. The temperature was unbearably cold. The high was only 78 degrees that day, but they had the AC on full blast. Ordered the Queso Compuesto minus the guac to start. I had the crispy tacos with Mexican rice and charro beans. The entire meal was just okay for me, nothing special about any of the dishes. The rice actually tasted kind of old. Server was nice. She came by at one point and said she’d bring me a refill, but never did. A manager stopped by, so she was the one to get the refill. Décor is fun and vibrant. I would only come back to Chuy’s if someone I’m with wants to dine there. It’s not bad at all, but it’s just… okay.
