I cannot say enough positive things about event1013. They SERIOUSLY and MASSIVELY saved our wedding. Melissa is absolutely an answered prayer and we can’t be thankful enough for her. Brief rundown: Our original wedding venue, The Generator in Garland, was paid in full and reserved in February 2016 for a June 12 wedding date. We wanted an industrial-vintage-coffee-ish theme wedding(us both being previous baristas and whatnot during college). We had walked past event10138 – 9 months ago, but never even considered it was in our price range for a venue, even though it was gorgeous inside. Well, when the new owner of the Generator, Nir, decided to cancel our event 5 days before the wedding, we freaked. The new owner wanted more money, wanted to charge more for the items we were going to have them bake, and then flip flopped on all kinds of other small details and would become angry and hostile when we asked«why», and then walked off fuming saying he wouldn’t return our money nor have our ceremony unless we paid more. My(now) husband and I had no clue what to do, as we left The Generator, and went to a nearby lunch spot to recompose, eat, and pray. We took the rest of that Tuesday afternoon off, and contacted our moms and best friends to help us. My bff made a jillion calls, and ONE of them was to event1013. While some venues offered a small discount, others laughed at our hope for having the wedding on the same evening, at the same time. One, did not. Melissa, at event1013, heard out my bff, then offered to have us come by whenever we could, to see the venue. She had a shower that Sunday morning that she was working, but offered to tear it down and set up for ours right after, so we could keep our original wedding time. She understood the issues with our funds tied up in another venue(which we will be suing now) and contacted the director, Deborah, to see what they could do. They helped us above and beyond, with absolutely everything to allow us to use event1013 for our wedding. We were basically a nomadic wedding, just looking for a place to «land» and event1013 was that place. On the day of, we got there an hour before we were going to get in the venue for reveal photos. We took our photos outside, then it began to POUR down rain. Melissa invited us in to get our cakes and us in before the downpour. She was one of the sweetest, most helpful people ever that day. I was worried, ahead of time, that with all the changes, something would mess up. But our prayers were literally answered time and time again. God helped us get into event1013, a venue far grander and dreamier than our original one, and allowed us an opportunity to be blessed by her generous acts of service and compassion. We HIGHLY recommend event1013 and Melissa too. We also received our security deposit check back VERY quickly, within 2.5 weeks of our wedding, which was greatly appreciated too!

My fiancée(now my wife) and I held a wedding and reception at Event 1013 on September 5, 2015. We had an excellent experience with the staff and venue throughout the reservation process and during the event. The Event 1013 staff was engaged and helpful to us. The space is a recently renovated downtown Plano storefront. The aesthetic is exposed brick and nicely refurbished original hardwoods. A new professional kitchen and bathrooms round out the functionality. There are two rooms, the main hall in front and the«garden room,» in the back. The garden room features a large wall of decorative shelving, great for decorators. The space has a very classy feel to it. At the far end of the main hall is a large screen great for projecting video, slideshows, etc. The in house PA system is pretty good, and they support many different computer and AV inputs. At the time of this writing, they had completed an upgrade of the AV package. Basic access to the AV equipment is included. For our wedding, we did a slideshow and Instagram wall. It was a big hit. The house speakers were fine for general music, but they offer an upgrade to the package. We did hire an actual DJ for dancing and announcements. Included in your venue rental will be use of the antique hutch and bar/buffet. Event 1013 is great for folks who want a flexible space and an array of support services. The Event 1013 staff was really great about helping us execute our plan. So many other event spaces we reviewed wanted to lock us into their whole package. As in, «the venue rental is $X, but you have to rent our tables, chairs, use our caterer, use our bar service, etc., etc. no substitutions.» Event 1013’s approach was, «we can help you with that if you need it, but if you find a vendor you prefer, OK.» The venue does provide a list of preferred vendors, and they will want to meet your vendors, but overall the process was pretty easy. They will require all vendors to have minimum liability insurance. We really liked the ala carte possibilities because it gave us the ability to shop around while still having a back up service we could turn to if we did not find anything else we liked. We were able to put together a great wedding on our terms and not be totally eaten alive by the wedding-industrial-complex. Overall, a great experience.

The wedding tonight 3/20@Event1013 was beautiful-the spot was amended nicely with drapes, very cool ceiling lights, beautiful tables. Great event, nice lofty-brick style spot, which can be clearly done up beautifully-as long as you know what you want, it’s a very comfortable, cool, just dressy-enough space, flexible space I’d choose in a heartbeat!

As a soon-to-be bride, I searched high & low for the perfect venue for our wedding ceremony & reception. It took me a while, but then I came across event1013. It looked perfect online and I could not wait to see it in person, so I sent an inquiry about renting it for our day. Deborah Pierce, the director, was very friendly and informative in her response to me. And the venue was within our budget! I wrote back that I wanted to book our date, only to have Deborah tell me that the rental rate would more than double, because our date is the day AFTER a holiday. In all of my inquiries regarding rental spaces, event1013 is the only place that said they would double the rate for our date. When I wrote back that the newly doubled quote was out of our price range and I inquired about an alternate date, all I got in response was a short, curt, «that date is booked». Nevertheless, I thanked Deborah and complimented her space once more and received nothing back in reply. A simple, «thank you for your interest» would’ve been nice. I suppose the owners at event1013 don’t feel the need to be nice to would-be renters, since they are a brand new venue and probably have been booking up quickly. In time, the newness will fade and they will learn that they will get more«flies» with honey than vinegar. :)
