I spent more time looking for what I wanted. Something as simple as a cake board… I could have been pointed in the right direction but several employees walked right past me with no smiles and no offer of assistance.

Beware of framing scams…
We went to have a relatively small 10“x 20″ piece of art framed. The salesperson tried to jack-​up the price from the start by recommending triple matting. Then, watch out, some mats are in stock and others special order and are more. We settled on one 2″ white in-​stock mat. Next we selected a half inch standard basic black metal frame, but wait, that one isn’t on sale. We find one that is almost identical that is on sale.
Then we get our bill… $ 109, and that’s at 60% off plus 15% extra off. SO THIS SIMPLE BASIC FRAME WOULD HAVE NORMALLY BEEN $ 295. Really?
Oh wait, the salesperson crammed us by putting on the special UV filter anti-​glare glass. Back that out and we’re at $ 90.
Michael’s you should be ashamed of taking advantage of people with a deceptive sales team and sales that aren’t really sales at all.

If you don’t already know, never shop at Michael’s without a coupon because it’s all too easy to overspend on craft supplies for that Pinterest project you’ve been dying to finish. Coupons are plentiful and available via several mobile apps so just do your wallet a favor already and take the time to use one.
I’ve shopped this store multiple times and it is generally well-​maintained and stocked. Sure I get the occasional employee who isn’t certain where an item is located but the layout is very straightforward.
There’s usually a good selection of trendy and inexpensive items (similar to what Target does) near the checkout area that is always worth a peek. Clearance and marked down items are usually hiding on the end caps of aisles facing the outside walls of the store — this is always hit or miss. The store finally installed price checkers, so you’ll never have to be surprised at the register again.
