This is no longer Sankalp. It has a small menu and the service is not that good. I miss the Sankalp.

I have visited this restaurant a few times last year and been meaning to write a review, but for whatever reason just didn’t And then a couple of times when I went there this year, they were always closed. Wasn’t sure if the business closed for good or what. Then saw the flyer(see pic) and decided to go for lunch this week. The management got rid of the Sankalp Franchise and started their own. Now the restaurant serves Gujarati and Punjabi dishes. We ordered Lunch Special that comes with Rotis, Daal, 2 Subzis and Rice. A coworker ordered from their Punjabi menu with Roti and Paranthas. All of the food tasted really good and it was piping hot from the kitchen. Given that we were the only table occupied, it did take them about 15 – 20 minutes to get the food out. Overall, great food, but they need to do a better job advertising. Had I not seen the flyer at an Indian Grocery store over the weekend, I would not have known about their Grand Re-Opening. I hope this places runs well. Note: Its only Vegetarian food now.

I come here every other Sunday or so. I like their Chicken Dosa. I’m not Indian so i don’t know how authentic this is, but i liked what i had. I would review the other dishes but i can’t recall their names, someone else ordered for me ;) Overall, i like this place.

Clean restaurant. Excellent food and service. Portions are small for the price. Background music simply sucks! Restaurant managers are loud! Back office type work is performed in front of customers… kinda annoying to hear their loud discussions!

This place is full of very friendly staff. The menu can be slightly daunting if you aren’t already familiar with the food, but there are«definitions» of the items on each page, so that’s helpful. It did take QUITE a long time for our food to come out, and it wasn’t super crowded. Maybe the time was magnified because I was fasting for Ramadan all day, but we also didn’t get water refills on time. The food was AWESOME, though. I would definitely come back.

Food tasted great, echoing others statements. Portions and cost make this prohibitive from being a regular eatery for me.

It’s been long due for a review about Sankalp. already went there trice before finally writing this review. Initially, I was surprised to see that they have franchises all over the world. BUT the TASTE of food, shout out LOUD the reasons . ‘ Must go for all the Veggie /South Indian food Lovers. They have a coupon deal going on at this place. Buy a $ 25 booklet that provides $ 700 amount of saving. aint’ that Awesome . nyways coming back to the dishes that I loved. The list goes on and on. But to name the few«Pau Bhaji Dosa«& «Malabar Paneer» are the one’s I liked the most.

Authentic South-Indian food is a rarity that is hard to find in the US of A. DFW is no exception. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some curry and Tandoori chicken, but some times I crave the stuff from the south just as much. When I first moved to the Dallas area back in 2006, I searched high and low for a place that served decent dosa, idli vada, and the rest. No luck… until I ate here. This place has a wide variety of authentic South-Indian food; it’s a franchise that actually started in India and made its way into the States. They brag about having made the largest dosa ever at 30 ft(no joke… it’s in the Guiness Book of World Records). I would say that the food here is slightly overpriced(hence the 4 stars), but that’s ok cuz the taste and authenticity more than made up for it. I had a Chettinad Dosa and Idli Vada and both were very tasty and made fresh. The staff was friendly and service was quick. I live in central Dallas and I would still make the trek out to Plano to eat here again. Two thumbs up!

Recently we went to Sankalp for dinner. Its interior looks decent. Waiters were good. All the items on the menu are way too expensive!!! Just steam rice would cost you like $ 5. Many non-veg items were like $ 14 each! Food tastes OK. Portion size is definitely less. There were not many people in the restaurant(consider proximity to at least 3 indian temples, you would expect some indians!) Overall this indian restaurant is very expensive considering Dallas market and also its portion size! Will I go back? Hmmm… If only they reduce the prices by at least $ 2 across the board for all dishes while not reducing quality and quantity.

Very Bad Food and Very Bad Service. The first time i tried, food was ok, but very oily… and service was very bad… I just thought may be they have just opened thats the reason service and food is like this… so thought to give it another chance… and the second time: Both service and Food was«pathetic»

I had the chicken chettinadu with rice, it was dark meat chicken, which I like and it was delicious. The restaurant ambience is intriguing. The ginger tea is hot with milk and dried ginger.

Sankalp is a large franchise chain of Southern Indian food restaurants. This one in Plano is behind the Shipley Donuts on the South East corner of Alma and Parker. The interior looks very nice and clean. It is not a buffet. They have an extensive menu and it is available online. I went in for lunch on a weekday. The waitress could tell I was not that familiar with Southern Indian dishes and took the time to explain several items. I got the chicken chettinad(a bowl of curry with chicken pieces) with chapati bread(2 pieces per order) $ 14. Extra chapati is $ 2.25. I also got a masala chai $ 2.25; so, with tax $ 20 for lunch. I think that is a little steep for lunch, but it was very good and filled me up. Service was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. I plan to go back and try other items. They do have take out available.
